Ashenne 'Ashe' Hacin is a Duskwight Elezen hunter originally hailing from the Twelveswood.
Personality
Although Ashe comes across as rather calm and unflappable, she's rather cynical and quite a bit jaded. She dislikes talking about her past, shutting down the conversation if it comes up – particularly if the topic of the father of her two sons comes into play. Despite that, she's quite friendly and more than willing to help others, should the situation call for it. Though she can come across as somewhat aloof, she has a painful history with the Twelveswood and will avoid it whenever possible.
History
Born in Gridania's Twelveswood, Ashenne was the third child of seven born to her parents, Eaulette and Shaivent. Her childhood was fairly typical of nomadic Duskwight Elezen, with her being trained in hunting and gathering by her parents. As such, Ashenne is a talented hunter and tracker of both game and people, and excellent at disguising her presence in the forests of the Twelveswood. However, while her childhood was fairly unremarkable, she did eventually come to resent her parents and their way of life.
At the age of eighteen, Ashenne was betrothed to another Duskwight, Dochax Riesibeur. Although the engagement was not her choice, Ashe decided to honour her parents' wishes and proceed with the marriage, despite her reservations about her intended fiancé. Unfortunately, the marriage did not work out. Dochax proved to be both cruel and a traitor – acting as a spy and scout for Garlean forces in exchange for money and the promise of power and eventual imperial citizenship. Ashe ended up pregnant by Dochax out of wedlock and fled the Twelveswood. In the process of her escape, she was badly wounded and miscarried the child she was carrying – nearly dying as a result. Her life was saved by a Mi'qote by the name of Arikane Kurogane, an adopted Doman living in the Twelveswood and member of the Conjurer's Guild.
Subsequently, Ashe left the Twelveswood for nearly ten years. She spent that decade wandering Eorzea as an adventurer, taking up mercenary work whenever funds were short. Given her background and skillset, she also took work as a hunter and tracker, looking into the disappearances of people and hunting down dangerous beasts. She stayed in contacted with the man who saved her life, Arikane Kurogane, throughout this time, deepening their friendship; despite their vastly different upbringings, the two of them think of each other very highly and Ashe has said that the only reason she would return to the Twelveswood is if Arikane needed her.
It was during her wanderings as an adventurer and mercenary, Ashe began a relationship with a Garlean defector. The relationship did not last, however, with Ashe being abandoned shortly before she gave birth to twin sons, whom she named Cassian and Valens. Although the relationship ended on a sour note, Ashe does not hold this against her children and loves them fiercely; she would gladly give her life to protect them. At present, her focus is on raising her two children as best she can – hoping to give them a better life than her own, with the chance to make their own choices.
