Damien Takayama

GENERAL • APPEARANCE & PERSONALITY • RELATIONSHIPS • RUMORS • OOC NOTES • CREDIT General Damien Takayama, originally born of the Tumet tribe, was born a "cursed" child. Sharpened teeth, slit eyes, and a face which showed no emotion, not even to cry earned him the nickname, "Cursed One." From then on, he was ostracized from the tribe's children, and even looked down with disgust by some of the adult's, due to his lack of expression, and for the fact he seemed to feel no pain. Up until the trial where the children were given a chance to receive their name and enter the tribe, he was constantly beaten, abused, and mistreated. When time came to escape the bonds of the tree, he was the first to escape, but the only one not to return to the tribe. He began to travel the Steppes alone at the age of ten, encountering countless dangers and trials, finding three years slowly passing by. It was when he reached the age of thirteen that he was found by an old, retired Sharlayan researcher, Damien Caelcator. The researcher took him in, a nameless child, and brought him back to his home in Kugane. It was there that the silent and reserved child learned of true love and affection, the researcher having taken him in as his own son. The years quickly passed, and once 18, the child, though he could no longer truly be called so, had to see his father figure pass away from old age. Before he passed, he bid the child to take his name, and to live a new life as Damien. Damien soon found a new home in the arms of a small Yakuza gang in Kugane, where he quickly climbed the ranks with enormous strength, a numbness to pain, and an extremely large metal club. He continued this life for seven years, and was given the surname by the gang's boss of, "Takayama." Soon after he turned twenty-five, the small gang was struck by a much greater foe, and was forced to disband, else face death. It was then that Damien Takayama boarded a ship to Eorzea, becoming a wanderer in search of something more. Damien Portrait Appearance & Personality Damien, like many Xaela, is large in stature, nearing seven feet in height, with a bulky frame from years of swinging his large metal clubs. His eyes are heterochromatic slits, his mouth filled with sharpened teeth, and the top of his hair dyed white. He is quite unexpressive, though most would not know if since he tends to wear a face mask, regardless of occasion. Like his face, Damien tends not to express any emotion, his voice always even in the most pressing of circumstances. It is only when he has become close to someone that he allows himself to show even the slightest bit of emotion. He will usually not involve himself with people of situations unless they for some reason catch his reason, as he has always been one not to unnecessarily involve himself with others. He can almost always be spotted with a giant metal club slinged over his back, a collection of different colors that has been gathered over the years. Relationships There are few people who Damien could say he has had close relationships with, being able to count them on his hand. The father figure who took him in, Damien Caelcator, remains the person most cherished in his heart. After that is the Yakuza boss, Kazuo Takenaka is the second most cherished person to him. Though much tougher, and with a tendency for violence, he still thought Damien in the ways of the world, and was also the one who instilled a different form of survival into him. As for his old tribe, the day he walked away from the tree he renounced his association with them. Though his memories are awful, he does not resent them nor the Xaela people, as he truly believes himself to be cursed in some form. Rumors Though not the most famous of the underworld of Kugane's gangs, rumor of Damien's vicious and ruthless nature permeated among even the top of Kugane's sordid leaders. Rumor has it that he was even sought out among some of these top gang's, but continually refused, in favor of the smaller gang he was a part of. The face mask he wears has aroused many rumors in itself. Some say under it, is a face scarred by countless battles, while others say his face was burned beyond recognition. There are countless rumors of his indomitable nature, able to take knives to the ribs without even flinching. Some people say he has the power of an Oni, his strength and weapon bestowed by one after deeming him worthy. OOC Notes Hey there, I am Cris! I have been RPing for a while, and recently took a break from the game for a couple of months, and have decided to get back into it. Damien is my new character who I have been working with, and essentially my main focus right now! I am up for most RP, preferring more mature, possibly dark RP, though I do also enjoy more light hearted, slice of life RP as well! I am based out of Texas on the CST timezone, and am usually in game in the evening into late into the night. I RP both in game and on discord, but know I can sometimes take a bit on discord!
