His job was always closely monitored, but one day as the foreman was inspecting his work on a steel bracing for a mast the man was struck by freak lightning that targeted the metal, killing him and splitting the mast at the base. The mast's subsequent collapse caused further grievous injuries. Gold remained unscathed. |

The ship's doctor was killed in the subsequent fight for succession, and the rest of the crew perished from their own poisoned weapons afterwards having no idea on how to administer the cure. Gold was hiding in the kitchen the whole time. The only survivor. |

He called individual meetings for his servants to give them praise and gifts of great wealth. In Gold's meeting he handed over a priceless statuette, but the old man suffered a heart attack as he handed the object over. When the daughter arrived and saw what had transpired she declared all the servants thieves and seized the rewards. Gold had escaped, but now was on the run. | ||

A work in progress! Just trying to find out how templates are edited properly.
A sell-sword, a shipwright, a thug, a cook on a pirate vessel, a merchant bodyguard, a thief, a prisoner, a smithy, a machinist. The number of titles that flow from mouths that know Gold Shade describe an individual seemingly free of any goal or strict morality, with people speaking both ill and praise for him depending on the who and where. The reason for his history may be a case of cosmic interference, or just plain bad luck.
Aspects That Stand Out:
Gold Shade, or Guldiskaet in Roegadyn, descended from the mountains of Abalathia's Spine to Eorzea to find work as a mercenary, much like many of his kin. He currently bears no sworn allegiance to any one Grand Company, House or Free Company, and he seemingly enjoys this freedom as it has allowed him to pursue his wandering tumbleweed of a lifestyle. The truth of the matter however is that, through repeated events in his life, he is utterly convinced that he is blessed to stand in the shadow of Rhalgr, in that destructive bad luck follows him no matter where he tread. This idea has forced him to move locations and change professions often due to the superstition that by staying still, whether physically or mentally, he will invite disastrous misfortune to everyone around him. Examples of this:
Notes:
His constant vigilance and downright paranoia of the goings on around him deprives him of rest and this affects his mood greatly. Impatient, irritable, short-tempered and vulnerable to stress, he is a walking powderkeg of emotions just waiting for a loose spark to set him off. But if you were to ignore these sleep-deprived factors of his day to day personality (if he somehow found peace for a few hours), Gold can be quite amiable. He is often prone to anxiety attacks when he feels something is going to go wrong (which is fairly often). To cope he has developed tics where he tries to work on something with his hands. This includes crafting, balancing things, stacking objects or checking and rechecking his gear. This is to do with his belief surrounding his birth month being that of Nymeia, the Spinner, the Goddess of Fate who happens to be Rhalgr's master. By doing things himself and observing the result he believes he can control his fate a little better.

Weapons of Choice
Below is useful tidbits should you ever be interested in trying to attack/spar with Kiri. Please note that I am very open to gore and violence and am not beyond having my character sport an injury for days to weeks on end. However! Dismemberment, permanent damage, and even death needs to be spoken about prior in vivid detail/discussion before anything will ever occur IC.
