A work in progress! Just trying to find out how templates are edited properly.
A sell-sword, a shipwright, a thug, a merchant bodyguard, a thief, a cook on a pirate vessel, a prisoner, a smithy, a wanderer. The number of titles that flow from mouths that know Gold Shade describe an individual seemingly free of any goal or strict morality, with people speaking both ill and praise for him depending on the who and where. The one thing that remains constant however is his ever-present 'bad luck'.
Aspects That Stand Out:
Gold Shade, or Guldiskaet in Roegadyn, descended from the mountains of Abalathia's Spine to Eorzea to find work as a mercenary, while utilizing his skills in metalworking to be the band's mender. He currently bears no sworn allegiance to any one Grand Company, House or Free Company, and he seemingly enjoys this freedom as it has allowed him to pursue his wandering tumbleweed of a lifestyle. The truth of the matter however is that, through repeated events in his life, he is utterly convinced that he is blessed to stand in the shadow of Rhalgr, in that destructive 'luck' follows him no matter where he tread. This idea has forced him to move locations and change professions often due to the superstition that by staying still, whether physically or mentally, he will invite disastrous misfortune to everyone around him. Examples of this:
Variations of this and others have befell Gold throughout his life. He can see no obvious solution to this bar being superstitious of every crack in the floor, weather phenomenon and stray animals crossing his path. He hopes one day to accumulate enough wealth to live comfortably alone in solitude. Away from anything and anyone that may come to harm from his presence and his 'blessing'. Despite these series of events however, he is still utterly devoted to the Twelve in their entirety, and not to any one particular deity.
Notes:
His constant vigilance and downright paranoia of the goings on around him deprives him of rest and this affects his mood greatly. Impatient, irritable, short-tempered and vulnerable to stress, he is a walking powderkeg of emotions just waiting for a loose spark to set him off. But if you were to ignore these sleep-deprived factors of his day to day personality (if he somehow found peace for a few hours), Gold can be quite amiable. He is often prone to stress when he feels something is going to go wrong (which is fairly often). He has developed tics where he tries to work on something with his hands. This includes crafting, balancing things, stacking objects, rolling his dice or checking and rechecking his gear. By creating things, however temporary at times, he hopes to invoke the blessings of Industry (Byregot's realm) to offset the influence of Destruction (Rhalgr's realm).
While his history may indicate a dedicated brawler Gold himself prefers a more cautious approach. Rarely jumping into conflicts where the odds don't appear to be in his favor, he found his calling in the form of Magitech armaments upon an encounter with an Ishgardian Machinist, who opened his eyes to another approach outside of raw steel, fists or magic. Using a safe range, various gadgetry and a powerful handgun, Gold is much more comfortable surveying combat at a distance where he can easily avoid possible pitfalls while have easier access to a safer retreat if necessary. Since acquiring this method of combat his infighting skills have gotten rusty, but overall, he is still a Hellsguard Roegadyn with a powerful frame, albeit now more clumsy.
