Her hairstyle is simple and quick, and if it doesn't require any effort then it's perfect. Complexion: She wouldn't be a proper redhead if she wasn't extraordinarily fair, with a dash of freckles speckling her nose and cheek bones. Dark, seafoam green eyes complete the somewhat cliché complexion palette. Physique: Like any adventurer she's fit, hunting things down and running the occasional incredibly useless errand keeps most in her occupation pretty svelte. Her height is average for a Highlander, maybe even on the short side, but she still towers over the majority of Eorzea's inhabitants. Attire: Everything from holiday costumes to cocktail dresses, Juliana's wardrobe is extensive and eclectic. She believes every occasion should warrant a special and unique ensemble, complete with immaculately lacquered nails. The Past: Juliana has a habit of keeping her past to herself, unless directly questioned about it then there isn't much she won't share. She was raised by her grandmother until she was fifteen, then she struck out on her own and did some things, and then some other things, which led to another thing, then she disappeared for six years. Currently, she's settled into the little cottage her grandmother left to her. The Present: She makes a tidy sum hunting bounties for the Twin Adders. Quite honestly, she's more than happy for any excuse to vanish for a day or two. Not that she doesn't love her cottage; a soft bed, warm food, marble bath and all are fabulous, but sometimes domestic life can prove a bit overwhelming, and you just need to go out and kill something. The Inside: Secretive and introverted, there are just some things not everyone needs to know. In fact, there are some things no one needs to know. Like everyone who survived the Seventh Umbral Era, she has her demons. The Outside: Charming and sweet are words that have been used to describe Miss Vale. Her good-humour and easy conversational skills make her ever-welcome company; she can wile away the evening with tales of adventure or a tuneful ditty depending on the audience, or she can be reclusive and shut herself away with a good book in her study for hours on end. (✝♥) Character's Thoughts: "Her surefire remedy for a bad day always included a kitten and pastries." Juliana was raised by her grandmother, as her parents were adventurers who just couldn’t find the time to raise her. And it never even occurred to her to begrudge them their selfishness, because her grandmother was her everything. She had traveled from Sharlay decades before, lucratively selling her star-scrying and alchemical talents and found herself quite comfortable by she accepted the burden of her only granddaughter. She died when Juliana was fifteen. Pippa and Patsu, housekeepers. (♥♥) Character's Thoughts: "Busybodies with the best intentions." Pippa and Patsu have been the keepers of the little cottage in The Goblet since before Juliana was born, having been hired by her grandmother when they were a young, newlywed couple intent on proving their domestic skills. On a good day, she considers them something along the lines of her foster parents. On a bad day, she considers them someone else's furniture they left behind when she took ownership of the house. It's complicated. Egilhard, paternal grandfather. (♥✔) Character's Thoughts: "As long as he has a fishing pole and a bottle of booze, you'd be hard pressed to find a happier man." Egilhard moved from Ala Mhigo to Limsa Lominsa many, many years ago. Mostly for the fishing. He taught his granddaughter everything she knows about the art of catching one's own supper, and oftentimes when Juliana finds her life to be overwhelming she can be found behind Brewer's Beacon, sharing a story and a drink with her dear old granddad. ASSOCIATES Alainoix, bodyguard. (♥♦) Character's Thoughts: "Most of the time I want to kill him, but he'd definitely kill me first...so I don’t." Alainoix was hired by Juliana's grandmother when she was knee-high to a goobbue after displaying a proclivity for finding herself in dangerous situations. Such as proving she was, indeed, knee-high to a goobbue. Alain taught her everything she knows about being a bard, which is why she lovingly refers to him as her bardyguard. And though she complains about his intrusiveness, and his uncanny knack for being exactly where she doesn't want him, he's the only person alive who knows all of her secrets. Riobard, associate. (★✔) Character's Thoughts: "Wouldn't you like to know." It feels like Juliana's known Riobard forever, they met during her adventures at some point. She keeps most other details regarding him to herself, and isn't likely to share them. The Sea Snakes, former associates. (✖) Character's Thoughts: "The less said about them, the better." Some things happened resulting in this band of pirates considering Juliana in a less-than-amiable light. She left, they didn't like it, and as far as she cares that's the end of that story. They have yet to make their appearance at her modest little cottage, and so much the better. As a small child Seraphine took Juliana to the stalls at Bentbranch Meadows, and there she chose the runtiest looking chocobo she could find. Her grandmother tried to dissuade her but it was love at first sight. For months she fed and nurtured the little bird until it began to flourish and take on a lovely pink hue, and they've been the best of friends ever since. ■ Blue - The direwolf was actually a former bounty mark of Juliana's and when she found him injured and frightened in a glade in the Black Shroud she couldn't possibly kill him. So she took him home and mended his wounds and he decided to stay. ■ Kukuru - It is common knowledge that drake mothers will roll their eggs into a canyon and only claim those that crawl their ways back to the top as their own. It is also common knowledge that Juliana studied the hatching seasons of drakes so she could claim the ones that didn't make it back to the top as her own. Over the course of many seasons it only happened once, and that is the story of how she found Kukuru. ■ Nas Vesh - Juliana met Nas Vesh during her travels in Dravania. No one, except maybe Alainoix, knows why or how the wyvern and the Hyur are friends, but they occasionally condescend to be traveling companions just the same. Minions ■ Lewphon - The small red panda has been seen with Juliana for as long as most can remember, and even she can't exactly recall how he made his way into her life. ■ Louis - A largish weasel Juliana took in on her travels. Really, it's a fairly common theme amongst most of her animal companions. ■ Lark - Juliana's hunting falcon.
