This character article or section of a character article is a stub -- a small, but growing, work in progress. If you're the creator of this character, why not consider expanding it?

Going by the name of Silent more often than not, this young one appears to be in his late teens at the most (judging by appearance and actions alone). There isn't much known about him simply due to his inability to speak. He can often be seen wandering in and around Ul'dah, either hunting for food or watching passersby. He can most often be seen wandering between the Gold Court and Central Thanalan. His clothes are quite obviously worn out in nature, and he doesn't appear to have any well-maintained weapons beyond a hunting knife and a pair of fist cuffs.

Character

Appearance

Physique — He's slightly shorter than the average male, though that doesn't seem to stop him. It remains as both his greatest advantage and biggest disadvantage. While his baggy clothes appear not to fit him quite so well, anyone attempting to to touch or feel him up would immediately notice his toned muscles (or just catch him shirtless and stare)!
Scars and Marks — On his neck is a set of jagged scars, obviously once deep, and extending across his throat. On the left side of his neck are four puncture scars, marking the beginning of the slashes. Across his chest is a particularly large scar, fairly new and running from right shoulder to his left hip. On both his arms, starting from his hands and extending up just past his elbows, are a set of tribal-like tattoos. These are usually hidden by both gloves and bandages for an inexplicable reason.

Personality

At first glance he seems a little strange, but he’ll easily start up a conversation in any environment he feels comfortable in. He tries very hard to stay cheery and connected. It’s only recently that he started making new friends, since he doesn’t know where to start while he can’t talk. He also gets frustrated, easily. The number one factor being his inability to talk, or make any kind of sound, to the point where he’ll try for the sake of trying and end up curling up in a little hole for a few days. Finally, like any normal person, he has a terrible inability to not talk about his problems, something that really only got worse since he can’t talk.
Despite his cheery, excited demeanour, his confidence seems to be severely lacking in certain situations. It often takes him several minutes of skulking before he's approaching anyone, whether by himself or because he's been invited. However, if he thinks he's not making any kind of good or given no reason to doubt that he's in the way, he'll likely end up just slipping away from a group without any notice.

Combat

General

Strengths: He’s pretty nimble, like an opo-opo. He can climb most anything, often using his scorpion wire for assistance if he needs to, and he’s not afraid of heights. He appears to be quite skilled, using his small stature to get under his opponent’s guard. Finally, he’s something of an silent acrobat, able to keep his balance under most circumstances, and even using an opponent’s body against them.
Weapons: The only weapons he's been observed using, in combat, are his fists cuffs and a knife. He also uses what appears to be a thin wire made of a strong metal, which he uses to reach heights he needs to or simply to tie up an opponent. He'll often infuse it with his own aether to strengthen it when needed.
Weaknesses: Because of his profession and his choice of fighting style, He doesn’t wear any metal armour. This leaves him vulnerable to a lot of serious damage. His shortness also makes it hard for him to reach things on the third shelf of most pantries.

Relationships

Family

[Mother] — (Unknown)
Having run away from his tribe, in a sense, at such a young age, K'washi doesn't remember much, if anything, about his mother. What he does remember is how proud she would be whenever he was successful at his lessons, and he remembers their fight. He does not, however, remember what it was they even fought about in the first place.
[Father] — (Unknown)
Right from a young age, K'washi never knew much about his father, as he would simply be busy with the other females of the tribe.
Jarrion Vishar — (Adopted Brother; Indebted)
Jarrion is practically the one who raised K'washi, at least during the time they spent together on the boat. The pirate honed the miqo'te's skills with knives, teaching him how to wield them properly, while also giving him some much-needed company. He's also usually the only one that would ever give K'washi some kind of liquor voluntarily! Together they're beginning to work on a sign language between the two of them, a task proving difficult.
Tahni'sae Farreihm — (Adopted Brother; Grateful)
Tahni'sae is, for all intents and purposes, a part of K'washi's family. While the entire concept is still incredibly foreign to him, he's ecstatic to know the Keeper sees him as a younger brother. From mischief and pranks to just generally having a good time, these two have a rather deep bond. This only further fuels his desire to ensure Sae stays safe and sane; and indirectly, his desire to get stronger so he can protect those that he cares for.

Friends

Leah Carsen — (Close Friend)
K'washi met Leah through Tahni'sae. Their first interaction was through a game of 'Truth & Dare,' and following their teamwork against Sae's crazy mother, he's grown to become quite fond of her. He considers her as kind, sweet, and certainly delicate... though that won't stop him from trying to throw her in some body of water. With her becoming Sae's mate, he's somewhat obligated to get to know her better. Between that and overhearing one too many conversations between her and his teacher, Tesla, he's marking her as a good friend.
Zana'to Molkot — (Curious; Love Interest)
A fellow Pride member and resident of Tahni'sae's home, Zana'to is someone K'washi would call... interesting. In truth, he doesn't know much about the odd Keeper beyond mannerisms and his tendency to sleep naked. Zana'to has, also, been a big help in regards to K'washi's teachings... at least as far as grammar goes. He's become quite comfortable around Zana, and may have even developed something of a crush on him. He's curious enough to see where their potential feelings for one another may go.

Acquaintances

X'khai Tia — (Conflicted)
K'washi met X'khai through Leah. A fellow Seeker, he was rather fond of the man from Day 1 when he seemed entirely okay with letting him "steal his hat." Following the fall-out between X'Khai, Sae, and Leah, however, he's unsure of just where he stands in the older Seeker's eyes... and unsure of how he, himself, would react if he crossed paths with him.
Tesla Amorette — (Friendly, but cautious)
A mercenary hired by the Lynxfang Pride, K'washi met Tesla by pure coincidence as the Pride's meeting place also happens to be Tahni'sae's home. She's offered to teach him how to read and write properly, a skill of his that is improving at a much more improved rate, and even allows him to use her home. After a recent revelation, however, he's unsure of what to think.
Aeylis Bloodbinder - (Friendly)
The first time K'washi met Aeylis, he had just been given his very own bottle of rum (courtesy of a certain adopted brother). Since then, they've really not done much more than exchange casual greetings and light topics, though he's happy to be in her presence and isn't shy. He's taking rather good care of the new notebook she gave him too!
Avalyn Piper — (Grateful)
Their first encounter resulted in his ability to learn how to spell and recognize his own name! Eager as always to make friends, he's unlikely to forget how she helped him and her offer to continue helping him in his quest for communication!

Enemies

Tahni Farreihm — (On-Guard and Cautious)
Tahni is Sae's mother, of that much he knows. His first encounter with her resulted in his friends being severely wounded, and his second resulted in quiet a shattering experience. While he knows she's up to no good, he has no way to prove it nor does he believe he'd be of any use — a belief instilled largely due to her successful psychological attacks. As such, he's building up a plan of his own to bring her down, no matter the cost, to ensure Sae's sanity and freedom.
Naois Faller — (Hiss-worthy)
If he had to pick between jumping off a cliff or standing next to Naois, he'd most likely jump off the cliff. Due to their past, K'washi's instinct concerning Naois involves getting as far away from her as he possibly can in as little time as possible. He considers her a serious threat to his well-being, largely in part due to her almost-constant kidnappings in their earlier days in order to get Jarrion to do whatever it is the mad woman wanted at the time. He fails to understand why it is she insists on using him as a bargaining chip, and usually can't do anything about it since she's so much bigger than he is. While he's much older now, he still very much fears her and cringes in her presence. At the very least, he's become quite skilled in escaping rope bonds thanks to her.

History/Timeline

(Backstory under Construction due to Plot Holes)

Age: 0 - 12

Born in the Hipparion Tribe, K'washi was taught to hunt at a young age as per tradition. Growing up he was small, and often times got into scuffles with those around him. Despite this, he was easily one of the sneakier hunters and performed well, receiving his name at the proper age and even the affection of his mother at the time. He never spent much time with either of his birth parents, and so often has trouble remembering what they look like.

Age: 12 - 16

By age 12, it was quite obvious that he had no intention of becoming a Nunh, let alone remaining as a Tia. <Under Construction>
Once properly healed, he travels with a merchant back to Ul'dah. He has a tough time scraping by, like most, but easily fits in with the refugees pouring in due to the Calamity and loss of Ala Mhigo. It quickly becomes apparent that he's no longer able to speak, and being unable to properly read and write, he has an incredibly difficult time communicating. Using what little skills he'd learned through watching, he manages to hunt and sell enough to buy himself a ticket for an airship to Limsa Lominsa, where he subsequently stows away on a pirate ship. He spends three years on the boat, learning much more about the sea, combat, and other techniques.

Age: 17 - Present

Tired of life on the sea, K'washi returned to Ul'dah, where he's so far taken to simply relaxing and enjoying each day that goes by, and watching as the citizens move about. He's only recently started to interact more with others around him once again.

Sightings

  • Quicksand (Ul'dah)
  • The Gold Court (Ul'dah)
  • Any source of water (Central Thanalan near Ul'dah's gates or New Gridania)
  • Outside the Coffer & Coffin (Central Thanalan)

Tidbits

Quotes

  • "Seeng." — in response to being asked "If you could do anything you wanted, what would you do?"

Trivia

  • K'washi happens to be the world's best charades player (or, at the very least, is just good at getting his point across).
  • He is mute. Sometimes he still tries to 'say' words, though there is no record of him being able to make use of any voice.
  • He's bisexual
  • K'washi knows next-to-nothing about any happenings with his tribe. He also doubts he'd be accepted back, or even recognized, at this point.
  • He was given his last name by one of his former pirate friends.
  • He's rather fond of his new alias, Silent.
