Klair Gawain - A young traveling bard who was once a hyur and is now stuck in the body of a handsome Seeker through an accident that transformed him. Also suffering some amnesia after taking a blow to the head and nearly drowning.

Biography

Born to Cosmos and Luka Dratahr twelve years after their first son in the Land of Garyuu, Klair lived a rather blessed existence. A prince to the Dratahr family, descendants of the line of Bahamut and Tiamat, so they claim, Klair (birth name Klye Ahm, meaning A Clear Song) is essentially a dragonborn from among a small line of humans that successfully mated- and reproduced with dragons. As such, they have longer lives, but not so long as to surpass human lifespans at their oldest. Cherishing the tale of Shiva and her love with Hraesvelgr, the land of Garyuu honors and draws from the love between dragons and humans, and all are welcome- even those in whose veins flows the blood of those that partook in eating Ratatoskr's eyes.

When Klair was around 5, Cosmos had a vision where Bahamut and Tiamat warned her about the influence growing in the heart of her older son Krise, the next Brood-lord of Garyuu- and sure enough, she awakened to a terrified retainer and friend of Klair's, bringing news of Klair having fallen off a mountainside while playing and every bone in his body broken. Miraculously, he survived long enough to be transported to the healers of Utakata, traveling Hingan miqo'te in the service of the Land of Sawa, and playmates of Princess Kitsuno Ishida. Over there, the Matriarch, Ouka Yukimura, somehow managed to restore Klair with the surprising aid of her youngest son, Gareki Yukimura who had until then, shown no affinity for aetherial abilities. Completely healed, Klair recovered with them together with his best friend and confidante Jhi'a Feng, and spent the happiest parts of his years as a child with them, supporting them even after the untimely deaths of Ouka and Ibuki.

Krise, on the other hand, was passed over for his ascension to the throne of Garyuu for Klair, who had been chosen by Tiamat, and in his rage, he swore a promise to regain everything he'd lost, the same way Nidhogg tormented the Ishgardians for generations. It was then revealed, though unable to be proven, that he had pushed Klair off the mountainside, and his son, Wen Liu, would be taken from him and sent to Sawa to be adopted by the royal family there. Klair's own memories of the incident were affected by his condition. This would later prove fruitful to Kiraito, as with Klair's mind shaken, he'd attempt to take full advantage of manipulating him as he pleased. Having craved his older brother's love and respect, Klair admired him and tried to learn what he could from him, never once suspecting his brother meant him harm.

Klair grew into a noble, curious and kind young man- to protect him, his mother allowed him to travel with Jhi'a at his side by the age of 10, and they visited Eorzea where Klair happened upon a little miqo'te baby, named Nayel, living with the Dravanians. Bright-eyed and adorable, Klair returned to visit Utakata with him at the age of 14- bringing Nayel to stay with the tribe. Megumi Yukimura, who had recently become tribe matriarch despite her young age, took Nayel in, together with another young male miqo'te named Ryuh'a they'd found lost around the area, and Klair become something of a surrogate father/older brother to who he would later learn, was actually his own son from an alternate existence- a fact he wouldn't learn of until Nayel was to return to his rightful time.

In this time, Klair explored the world around him, showing a talent for music and creativity- his voice was beautiful and melodious, enough to calm even the most rampant beast. He'd return regularly to visit Gareki and Utakata, bringing him presents from afar- though as Gareki and him grew as companions, so did Klair's love for him. Gareki's own feelings for Klair were strong, and they both consummated their relationship at last- though they were only mildly hindered when Jhi'a accidentally cheated on Megumi due to a misunderstanding, and Gareki withdrew into himself out of solidarity for his sister.

Undeterred, Klair continued to pursue Gareki and displayed his own loyalty to him- all the while balancing he responsibilities he would later carry as a Dragon Prince, and his desire to sing. They both eventually bonded, much to Megumi's chagrin, but she supported them all the same, wanting her brother's happiness above all. Supportive and caring, Klair wanted to give Gareki everything his heart desired, and not wanting him to feel at all pressured by the responsibilities he himself would carry. He encouraged Gareki to pursue his dreams and ideas, while he grew his own skill in weaving and crafting- and of course, performing on his precious lute and lyre. Learning further about the world around them, things couldn't have seemed better, until they unconsciously formed the Flower of the Stars- a sign of their compatibility, and the potential for them to have a child. Shocked by this, Gareki refused to want to have children- and Klair agreed to send the flower to Sawa for safekeeping- Gareki was too young, only nineteen, and they'd barely gotten their way in the world to raise a child now.

They eventually did decide to go ahead and have their child, when they discovered that Nayel- who had been part of their tribe all that time, was actually their blood-born son. Sent to this time for his own protection, they learnt that by not having a child, they'd be placing Nayel at risk. Gareki, who had been learning of time displacement through the core of Alexander, began to understand how this was possible- and saw a future where Klair and him would be separated and destroyed without Nayel's birth. Nayel promised that he wouldn't let anything happen to them, and taking Ryuh'a, who had also been from his original time- returned to their rightful time period, now that they'd been able to avoid the calamity that would follow should Klair and Gareki lose each other.

Things weren't that simple, however- Krise, who had so far been unsuccessful in trying to gain Klair's confidence and trust, realized that he'd have to break his network of support and protection if he ever wanted to regain his place as king. He began with stealing some of Gareki's aether, corrupting it to create a distance between Gareki and Klair through their scent of compatibility and casting doubt on their bond. Klair and Gareki overcame it, after which he attempted to corrupt Nayel- which also failed, with Nayel's intense affinity for aether and his powerful blood between both parents. When everything he attempted failed, he finally turned to stealing the Alexander Core Gareki had used to send Nayel and Ryuh'a back to their rightful time.

And that one fateful night, everything changed, unraveling years of love and trust, and dissolving it into nothing.

♥♥ Gareki Yukimura - There is literally no one in the world Klair respects or loves more. Having known Gareki for nearly all his life, Gareki is his mate in every sense- though they're complete opposites in personality, Gareki is precious to him in the way he needs air to breathe. Someone he can be himself around completely, and someone who loves him sincerely without ever demanding he maintain his charm, Klair would pluck the stars from the sky for him simply to see him smile.

As of now, Klair has no memories of ever meeting Gareki save vague ones of his past. At most, he's a fond memory of a childhood he barely recalls, and has no opinion on him of any sort.

Platonic Love
