Appearance & Personality

Kyo is an Au Ra male of the Raen clan. He has a tanned complexion and a muscular build. A light-gold colour scale covers some parts of his body, including two curved, tusk-like horns and a long, spiked tail. He has narrow eyes of a light violet colour, and strawberry blonde hair tied back in a high ponytail that comes down to his lower back. He is fairly short among Au Ra, but Kyo has ended up with quite a muscular frame for his size. He often wears what makes him feel most comfortable, which often leaves his torso barely covered, if at all.

In terms of his personality, Kyo tries not to take anything too seriously, even in combat. He's a drunk, a bit of a joker and and a showoff. He isn't shy about flirting with guys that he wants. Even though he's more than comfortable with purely sexual encounters, Kyo would eventually like to settle down and possibly start his own family. His serious side comes from his father, who was a great leader among his village's people, and who he respected greatly. Kyo hopes one day he can be as strong as his father, Akagi, was.

Biography

Childhood

Kyo was a happy child, growing up in a small Doman village called Hakane. The village was nothing to shout about, but the families that lived there were peaceful, and there was a strong notion of community. Kyo looks back fondly on the memories he has of his childhood friends, and the fun they used to have. Kyo began to train his archery skills as a child in order to hunt monsters and help provide for the village.

Teenage

It was during Kyo's teenage years that a war erupted on the western edge of Doma, with a military force from Garlemald moving to expand their territory. The Domans tried to resist, but once they had started to push the Garleans back, they retaliated with an army the size of which Doma had never been able to predict. Doma was completely outnumbered, and after trying to hold several towns and failing, they agreed to a surrender and Garlemald occupied much of the Western Region. Kyo continued to train as an archer, until one day the wandering bard Jehantel came passing through, witnessing his talent with the bow. Jehantel stayed for a while, imparting Kyo with the knowledge of the Bards, and how they used to perform songs in battle to rally their allies.

Present

In the confusion and discord among the Garlean military following the defeat of Gaius van Baelsar by the Eorzean Scions of Light, the Doman people once again took arms against Garlemald, fighting for their freedom. Kyo took part in this revolution, leaving his village with the others to head West, and fight the Garlean forces. However, Doman warriors and magic were no match for the monstrous iron-clad creations the Garleans piloted. Magitek obliterated the Doman forces, and through some miraculous luck, Kyo was one of the few that survived. He joined up with a force headed by Yugiri Mistwalker, and they headed back east. Upon reaching Hakane, Kyo's heart sank as all he could see was ash. The magitek soldiers had made it there first, and his village was burned to the ground. Heartbroken at the loss of his parents and sister Yura, Kyo decided to follow Yugiri and the other refugees who fled to Eorzea. He hoped that in aiding the Eorzeans in their fight with the Garleans, he might finally see them defeated and avenge his family.
