General

Hyur

While the world was full of adventurers of all races and classes, exploring the wilderness and building grand exploits; Lio remained secluded neither advancing his mind nor body. As a child he slept as much as anyone would allow before his parents or sister would force him to get out of bed. It seemed as though his entire goal was to simply rest until his life ended.

It was not as though there was anything great awaiting him in slumber, Lio actually didn't dream often. But in the confines of a bed and in the dark, the world didn't feel like it could touch him. Hyur, lalafell, Miqo'te non of it mattered. This world was one in which there were no passions to pursue and so he allowed himself the ever constant dark.

At school he tried to remain as invisible as possible, not being particularly attractive or approachable, this was mostly easily obtained. Even bullies glanced over him as seeming just too lifeless, corpses after-all were not all that fun to torment.

The only real talent he possessed was understanding everyone's perfect angle. By looking at their balance, structure and behavior it allowed Lio to find the right perspective that they would be best viewed from. Understanding these two elements along with lightning and foreshortening made his art quality work.

But this was not an ability he could openly display, most species (or rather, people in general) found it disturbing being asked to remain still to be drawn by a stranger. Notably a particular elezen threw threatening glares in his direction if Lio even touched his sketch book near the girl he'd decided was to be his. For that reason he tended to keep his pen focused on scenery instead. But there was no joy in it, no person or environment brought him any kind of satisfaction. It was more or less just something to pass the time until the world allowed him sleep once more.

Without passion the soul dies, suffocating as it is denied its only source of life.

Her

Then he saw... her.

Yes her, always her, never anyone else again... her... her... HER! Eyes that pierced through all that stood before her and saw to their true selves. She broke them with a simple glance, the air about this... this magnificent woman strangled any about into obscurity. She became the center of a star that was at the final stages of bursting, but never released that climax all were so anxious for.

Fear was the only emotion any could give her, all other offerings were cast aside. Adults of any race or standing in society could feel their existence reduced to nothing. This was not a simple teenage girl, she was a goddess that tolerated a hyur shell.

Lio was desperately waiting for "the end" and this girl with the chest-nut hair down to her shoulders was that end. He had to know everything there was to know about her, this was indeed love at first sight. She was the only one in this world capable of delivering to him the one thing he desired most...

His souls absolute end.

Trees, buildings, brush, night, all became allies in his new objective. Her eyes that saw all could not see him, for he had reduced himself to nothing. That was the purpose behind this undesired talent, by becoming insignificant he became able to pursue the only passion he'd ever know.

Malls, class, park, even the windows of her very home he prowled and observed her in public. No one got near her save for her family, she caste anyone aside that even attempted to get close. Shiki was an island and the waters about her were too treacherous to cross, nay; they were impossible to cross.

His room became a form of shrine to the one known as Shiki Ryougi. Moment after moment his mind would create images of her in which he'd feel inspired to draw. Eventually the walls of his room were completely out of view and only Shiki remained. She was more than a obsession, her existence became vital to his own survival.

...- so imagine his surprise when one of the nights that he pursued her, he found this immaculate angel standing over a shredded corpse, a knife in her hand. He'd been following her before though, she'd never had the chance to kill the mangled man that was below her. But that didn't stop her from staring and running her fresh knife around in the already deceased mans body. Covered in blood, it was the very first time Lio ever seen his beloved Shiki smile.

She wants to kill.

IT WAS PERFECT!

Lio had finally found someone that could destroy his soul and best of all, IT'S WHAT SHE WANTED! Maybe she hadn't been the cause of the mans death, but the smile on her face was clear enough. Shiki wanted to kill and something, something was holding her back from it.

But now... now Lio had the courage to confront her.

"I love you."

He stood before her for the first time at school, this was more than likely the initial time she'd ever noticed him. Her eyes met his with that same look she gave all others, like she could cause their death with a final absolution. But she also saw the obvious truth, that's exactly what he wanted.

Then a look foreign to her face presented itself, one that could only be described as disappointment. Gone was the austere exterior, she would not give anyone what they actually wanted and that included allowing Lio to have the murderous glance he seemed to nourish himself on.

"You're too weak to be my first."

With those words spoken, she brushed right passed him. The boy was deemed unworthy and disregarded the same as anything else that presented itself to Shiki to be considered. He was the only one that knew what she was and what she wanted and it still wasn't enough, Lio Shirazumi was simply too weak.

Him

That day a new emotion presented itself to Lio as well, one of an unbridled fury. But he had no outlet for it, there was nothing or no one to attack. He was too much of a coward to simply attack someone without having motivation to defend himself. Lio needed an excuse to unleash the raging storm that had coiled and compressed into his mind. He needed a reason...

Retrieving his sketchbook from its case, he found a certain girl to which another certain elezen was quite protective and territorial of. Lio began to draw her picture openly and she in turned as a means to reward his bravery (or perhaps make her pseudo boy-friend upset) posed for the portrait. The elezen tried to stay calm and chase him off a few times, but Lio simply stated that she didn't mind the situation so it wasn't really his business. In out right defiance, he continued the drawing until Lio saw the proper reaction in the elezen's eyes to know he had resolved to take action.

As expected, on his way home from school a coerl belonging to the elezen cut him off in the street. The creature caught Lio by the throat and dragged him off into one of the secluded Limsa alley ways. There, it released him and the boy rolled to the ground before the elezen.

What followed next was 2 minutes of words and blows, using punches as a way to emphasize words as if stamping them into Lio's very body. However, eat time he was hit Lio got back to his feet.

"This isn't yours, it's mine. We're here for me..."

Those words slightly shocked the elezen, he didn't understand their meaning. If translated properly, it would mean that all of this was happening by the hyur's design; that the elezen wasn't playing his part properly. Perhaps it did make sense though, Lio had always shrunk away when he'd glared at him before, so why would he purposely commit the act that put him in so much danger?

"You? You wanted a chance at me hyur? THAT IT?! Seven hells if that's all you wanted, lets see what you got behemoth tosh. Come on, come on!"

After swallowing down some blood from his lip, Lio engaged in the very first fight ever in his life. The anger that had been born from Shiki's rejection allowed him to strike much harder than he normally would have, but at best the giant elezen only slightly twitched from the impact. After a couple free hits, he was decidedly unimpressed and threw Lio into a stack of garbage bags.

"That's where you belong Shirazumi, the weak should stay in the trash."

Amused thoroughly on not only his clever word play, but also on the fact that he'd made Lio's purpose for being out here completely backfire. Laughing loudly, he started to walk away and leave his assumed destroyed victim to wallow in misery and disgrace.

Weak

That word, that damn word!

Weak

It was all that stood between him and Shiki, everyone saw it though. Everyone knew how weak he was.

Damn it, damn it, damn it! "WE'RE HERE FOR ME!"

The elezen didn't even turn around, he was sending a message that Lio was not worth anymore of his attention. Which is why he didn't notice that when Lio ran toward him this time, he wasn't unarmed. His hand had found a hard club of wood within the mounds of trash. Amplified by all the unleashing hatred that transformed into malice, the weapon was swung and struck for all Lio's arms and its durability was worth.

When the moment passed, the hyur regained focused on the world enough to bring himself back to the moment. Looking down upon his victim now laying upon the ground, noticing the gathering pool of red that seemed to keep accumulating more and more as moments passed.

Realizing the only logical conclusion one could draw from the scene, distraught started to cross his features. Panic and unyielding terror set in as he hurled the weapon aside. Lio sunk down to the ground watching as the puddle of blood increases in volume by the second crawling gradually toward Shirazumi himself. Shaking his head violently in disbelief, he now knew that his life was over. He'd be imprisoned forever and die a normal death, with his soul able to burn in the hells below.

Miqo'te

There was no place to hide the body, his prints were all over this scene. He couldn't burn it and several students had seen him with the elezen today. Running was pointless, he had no where to hide. There was no means in which to make this body disappear.

Or... was there? What if he could eat it? Then this scene wouldn't even be thought to be searched. Sure they'd been seen together at the school, but no one saw them come in this alley. With no body, there would be no case! So, Lio began biting into the body; grinding bones apart with his teeth and drinking down blood. All of it, he didn't think about the taste he only considered what it meant to lose Shiki.

But his stomach had limits, it couldn't hold as much as he'd need to make the entire body disappear. Once full, he had to abandon the body with patches of skin and bone eaten away. This was his limit, he could do no more. Sitting back against the brick wall, he simply sat their soaked in the blood of his victim waiting to be taken away.

A man entered the alley an hour or so later, clad in a dark purple robe with heavy armor visible underneath; he observed what Lio had done.

"Why did you try to eat him?"

"It seemed like the natural thing to do."

The reply garnered an amused smile from his face. The natural thing to do? Truly this was quite the unique boy, one in which would go to waste if he faced the fate that awaited him in his current circumstance.

"Why did you stop?"

"My stomach wont let me continue."

"I can give you an unquenchable hunger, is that what you want?"

"It is."

When Lio blinked next, he was no longer in that dark alley way. Rather he was now before a surging crystal that radiated lurid and ebony shades all at once. His very aura matched the tint of their glow and the darkness its shadow cast swallowed him whole.

"You have been awakened, feed forever more."

When his lids opened next, his appetite had returned in full. Staring at the body, he became almost enthralled by its gruesome display and swiftly darted forward scooping it into his arms. Now he tor into it easily, teeth meeting no hindrance from bone and stomach no longer having a limit to its capacity. 5 minutes was all that was needed before every trace that the tall elezen ever existed had disappeared. Even after his body was consumed, Lio was still starving and knew that nothing would ever satisfy. This was the price for his new power, the endless desire to feed.

Lio set out to find Shiki with his new found power, with this strength she would surely love him. No other would be able to stand against his strength again, this was the power of his Awakening. But she was gone, neither at school or home Shiki Ryougi was now anywhere in Eorzea.

Leaving his own home behind, Shirazumi developed his new power while trying to track Ryougi down. His body began to mutate the more he used this abnormal gift, but with the mutation came new gifts. His speed, strength and senses all heightened greatly. Smells especially were potent enough to almost be physical. This became the means in which he tried to pursue Ryougi, but her power was in her ability to deny existence... and thus she left no traces behind in the wind or ground.

His body was constricting on itself, becoming more lithe, feline and compacted. Hyur eyes became much more demonesque switching to a deep scarlet with a slitted cat like center. Skin and bone all contorted in order to suit the type of hunt that Lio was pushing it for. The excessive use of his enhanced hearing lead to the development of miqo'te ears. About those the hair altered from sandy brown to a brightening blond.

Realizing how effeminate his body was starting to appear, Lio resigned himself to crossdressing and playing the part of a female Miqo'te. Since he had to look like a girl, he chose to mimic Shiki's appearance as best possible; using her hair style as his own.

Still having failed so long in trying to find Ryougi on his own, hes decided to join a guild in hopes that their numbers might assist him in reaching his beloved.

Abilities

First and foremost is the source of Lio's power, this is called his "Awakening." By being brought before a crystal that pulls to the surface the root of ones soul; they inherit the most potent traits of the souls journey. In Lio's case, his soul's initial state was one of massive hunger. It was first created as a lion and each reincarnation afterword developed this carnivore like feral state. Once awakened, the soul can reincarnate no longer; this becomes its final life.

Consumption-
  • A power or curse to never know the limitations of hunger. The soul is placed in a constant state of starvation and can eat endlessly without limitation. This is because the food never stays in the stomach long. It is almost instantly broken down to the necessary proteins and sent out to rejuvenate the body. This power in itself burns into that energy, so the host can never be fully sated and the stomach always empty. The longer Lio uses his enhanced gifts, the stronger the urge to feed grows.
Bite-
  • His teeth are his greatest weapon, even if a sword blade stays in his mouth for a prolonged amount of time; the steel will break far before his teeth will. Bone is as soft as bread for him and wood hardly different from a soft fruits peel.
Senses-
  • By far his greatest among the five is smell, he uses his nose to track down targets from half a mile back. Combined with hearing, sight, feel and even taste he can track down almost any target and stand against them in a physical confrontation despite his lack of battle experience.
Instinct-
  • Like any animal he can sense danger and it also makes him aware of what targets are beyond his ability to handle.
Claws-
  • Lio's mutation has given him sharp talons which he uses as a scalpel while eating in order to make clean slices. These aren't nearly as durable as his teeth and a few sword swings from the right person could doubtless cut through them.
Strength and Agility-
  • The lions great power and speed are also circulating in Lio's sleek lithe form. Despite how his muscle capacity would appear, he has might enough to go blow to blow with your average Roegadyn and speed burst that can allow him to dart around his target like a blur.
Regeneration-
  • Healing begins moments after a blow is struck. The greater the damage the more time it takes, but even his organs can recover from serious hits. This is because his soul is on its final life and desperately tries to prolong its last existence as long as possible.
Ageless-
  • Due to regeneration and rapid protein break downs; Lio's physical state in age wont be changing anytime soon. The heart never grows weaker and nothing inside deteriorates. The only option is one final absolute death via decapitation or soul destruction magic.
