General

Meriell Bell, but usually going simply as Mell, is a Lominsan barmaid employed at the Bismarck but recently moved to Thanalan to perfect her skills, but due to location issues and not finding the job she had expected, she travelled to the Shroud and found employment in the Alder Springs in their inn called the Bobbing Cork where she can be found on a daily basis.

Cheery and kind to everyone, she is the soul and life of any party or gathering, genuinely wanting to make sure that everyone has a good time and that no one gets ignored or bored. She can be found everywhere at the same time as she just cannot stay put and will be moving nonstop. Due to her hyper activity, it’s not uncommon to see her switching topics at random, as if unable to just stay on one or focus on a single thing. She is fully aware of that but doesn’t seem to be bothered, although not the same can be said about others.

Hard worker and dedicated she is often seen working afterhours and just making sure the customers are all tended to and satisfied with the service which earned her a very good reputation in her community.

Anyone can tell that Meriell is a bundle of joy and limitless energy that just never runs out.

Cheery and out-going, she has an easy time befriending anyone that crosses her path, unless they simply refuse to be friends with her. To her, everyone is a friend and an ally, and she’d never turn anyone down. Too quick to trust however, she often gets into trouble for trusting such individuals too quick but it never put her off or made her learn her lesson; she still continues talking to strangers despite getting burnt in the past.

She is a very energetic girl who appears to never run out of fuel and will be all over the place, needing to know everything and be everywhere at the same time. Talking in one spot and then suddenly found on the other side engaging in conversation with other people. She enjoys talking and meeting new people and her open personality allows her that easily. A fan of fun and games, she’d always find some way to get peoples’ interest and keep them entertained, feeling as if it is almost her duty to be certain all people are engaged somehow.

Perhaps seen as naïve, and young, but there is more than meets the eye with the woman. She is definitely not thoughtless and can analyze a situation very well and by casual talk, she gets out information from people easily without them even noticing. They often don’t see her as a threat or anyone of great matter that can cause them issues. Her smile and cheery nature seem to easily fool many.

Appearance

Meriell is one of the highest of her kind, standing at a full 170cm. She is of a slender build and doesn’t have much muscle to show for apart from her lean figure which is clearly healthy. She does have, however, a very good endurance and powerful legs thanks to being an entertainer for a few years. She does enjoy creative activities and sports and it helps her build up her stamina.

Thick chocolate covered hair reaching her shoulders in a convenient and comfortable length, she does give off the image of a young girl with a playful attitude; and big sky blue eyes that stand out and appear to have a spark of mischief. She has a very slightly sun-kissed complexion thanks to working outdoors for extended periods of time. On her chin, she sports a small beauty mark. However, she isn’t one for makeup and wears absolutely none of it.

For clothing, she enjoys bright and warm colours, going from sunny oranges to deep reds and even vibrant pinks. Not shy to show skin but still rather modest, she often wears skirts but accompanied by very high thigh boots and long sleeve shirts. She does enjoy jewelry and often wears earrings or some pendants just to adorn her plain clothes and add more flare to them.

When speaking, she speaks perfect Eorzean however, when very relaxed, it is not uncommon to hear her thick Lominsan accent. She would forget to pronounce correctly as expected and just go back to her roots and speak much more casual with her close ones when she is truly at ease.

Occupation

Meriell worked at the Bismarck back in Limsa Lominsa for a few years as a waitress and wannabe cook, very often observing the cooks in the kitchen and offering help whenever they were short on staff. She was very helpful and always available to come in whenever help was needed and she gladly offered it.

Truly liked by other employees and customers, she was the apple in the eye for many and she appeared to enjoy being able to give people a pleasant stay while they dinned out. However, despite her popularity, she was moved to Thanalan by her employer, saying that it was for her to gain more experience in a more unfriendly environment. Things did not go too smoothly and with some help, she travelled to the Shroud where she found work in an inn and restaurant, called The Bobbing Cork, in Alder Springs. Overjoyed, she works every single day there and was offered a room to stay in during her employment there.

Every now and then she enjoys hosting some small events to gather more potential customers as well as just adding more life to the place. She’d often host small dances or even more grand spectacles including magic or other tricks just to keep people interested. Often, she’d be one of the entertainers, usually that being dancing or some small help to the actual performers.

Recently, she joined Club Lustre which is an establishment within the Mists with the goal to please the most demanding and the higher class of Eorzea with great food and entertainment as well as offer an amazing environment. She was the very first waitress to join and quickly became a trusted employee, swiftly inspiring a cheerful mood within the walls and lifting everyone's spirits.

The Hyur is not a fighter from what it may seem, but having a good look at her, she definitely appears to be able to handle her own in a fight. Powerful legs and strong arms, she could definitely pack up a punch and she wouldn’t hesitate to get aggressive if required, especially if it meant helping her loved ones.

She is more of a physical person than magic, and it is still unclear and unknown if she can use magic. Agile and quick, she can keep up with any combatant and is quite good at analyzing a situation and will take advantage of any weak points she may find.

A shy and timid Lalafell that Meriell met the moment she landed in Ul'dah and approached him by asking for directions. Although shy, he did help her out and the two quickly became good friends over the length of the day. Offering her advice and having her back, she quickly grew to appreciate his kind, although few, words. He showed her Gridania, explaining that it was a much better place than Thanalan and she took his words to heart and started to seek employment there, which she did find and on the next day they met again. After a nice evening and some bonding, the Lalafell asked her out. Shocked but not disapproving at all, she accepted immediately and the two started dating despite the few days that they knew each other. Meriell adores him and almost sees it as her duty to protect him and to put a smile on his face every day, wanting to help him vanquish the shyness. . She had never met anyone as kind as him and genuinely cares for the lad. Many would say that he is too shy and impossible to deal with due to that, but she sees it as something endearing and charming, a trait found in very few people.

The woman inspired Meriell greatly with her almost noble-like air, and she immediately agreed to the offer and joined the staff to become a trusted employee of hers. Meriell respects Madam Vonne immensely and sees her as an icon, as her idol, and will do anything to please her. The woman almost has a motherly figure to the Midlander and Meriell follows whatever guidance she is given by her.

● Naoh'to Maimhov (32)

A dark-skinned Keeper Miqo'te Meriell ran into on the streets of Ul'dah while he was engaging in some suspicious business. However, he quickly warmed up to her and mere chat turned to flirts from his side, while she did not appear to notice it, at least at first. The two mingled briefly and they found a mutual respect for each other as well as a trust. She promised not to tell anyone of his business and ever since the two would meet up and talk more and each time she'd enjoy the conversations even more.

Red-head Seeker that always appears to have everything under control in Club Lustre. A kind man that Meriell quickly called her friend the moment she met him. He helped her out within the Club and made sure everything was in order at all times and she was always grateful for his help and guidance.

● Sabeline Willow

A fellow Midlander that also works at Club Luste and appears to be a close trustee of Madam Vonne. Meriell and Sabeline quickly bonded over some book chatter and Meriell sees her as a sisterly figure as the woman often offered her advice and also would make her be aware of many things to which, otherwise, she was oblivious. Meriell does enjoy teasing her but it's only meant to show how comfortable she feels around her.

Keeper man with white hair and violet eyes that is also a fellow employee at Club Luste. After a meeting at the Club, she approached him and the two talked into the late night. It was quickly evident that the man was pushing for much more and she briefly appeared to go along with it and dropped her guard. She cannot deny she enjoys his company as he is a rather captivating man.

A newly hired cook at the Club; Shinya joined together with his partner and immediately took up the job in the kitchen. Meriell was thrilled by his dishes and was most happy to know she'd be serving all the magnificent things he made. He appeared to be rather flattered by her words and the two would work nicely together with Meriell showering him with compliments.

Meriell met this Miqo'te on her first day at Club Lustre but only a week in the place did she even engage in conversation. However, she does not have yet a clear opinion about the woman although she sees her as very pleasant.

Upbringing (0-18)

Meriell’s childhood was a peaceful one and with little thrills. Born to a simple Lominsan family with an older sister and younger brother, she was the middle child that somehow ended up being the one to wear the pants among the siblings. Her mother was a housewife and her father a well-respected Lieutenant in the Maelstrom. She lead a comfortable life with a loving family but despite the peaceful and easy-going lifestyle, it was also demanding due to her father. He wanted to introduce his children into the Grand Company and would train them each every single day once they were old enough to wield a sword, which was rather young.

The Maelstrom (18-21)

Once reaching eighteen, Meriell joined the Maelstrom where her sister, Agnes, was already in and was holding a high rank just as her father; thus, Meriell had a lot to live up to, the bar set very high. However, despite the high expectations, training rigorously every day and making sure to serve the Grand Company with every task that was assigned to her, she made her way up the ladder despite her young age, attaining the rank of Sergeant. She enjoyed being out in the field and making a difference by helping others but quickly she became bound by paperwork behind a desk and it did not sit well with her. After a year, her younger brother, Randal, joined the Maelstrom too as a mere private and he remained there as he had no ambitions to remain in the Grand Company and he wanted to leave and make his own life. This did not please their father at all who was ready to disown him even but after some talking, it was appeased and Randal left the Grand Company to travel the world as he had always wanted to. Meriell kept contact with constant letters and she always loved hearing about his travels. Agnes kept her high rank and remained a well-respected member until she finally married a fellow Corporal and retired to settle down and establish her own family.

Meriell, left alone in the Maelstrom part from her father, found little reasons for joy and would just sink deeper and deeper into depression. She needed to socialize and be out of the office instead of rotting away behind piles of paperwork. Wanting to also leave the Maelstrom, she confronted her father who forbid her to leave as she was the only one left to continue his legacy within the Grand Company once he’d retire. Not wanting to cross him, she remained still for a year but reaching boiling point she confronted him yet once again. The discussion turned violent as she ended up running away from the Grand Company that very same night and decided to take up a new identity to have her own freedom. She kept the same family name and first name but changed her hair colour from a brilliant golden blond to a dark chocolate brown to hide herself.

She found employment in the Bismarck, a place where the Maelstrom rarely ever went to as it was peaceful and they never had the time for such pleasantries. She remained close to her family and her mother and her siblings knew where she was and what had happened, and they kept it secret from her father. They told him that she was reported missing and most likely dead after she had ran away, which filled the man with great guilt but Meriell refused to reveal herself to him and continued living her life as a simple waitress, allowing him to believe that she was dead.

Employment Relocation (21-24)

Meriell arrived in Ul’dah at the Airship Landing and all she had was a piece of paper with unclear instructions to where to go. Her boss from the Bismarck had sent her to Thanalan to perfect her skills and try to serve a different crowd to help her build up character. She was to work at the The Coffer & Coffin but she had no idea how to reach the place, and so, she walked up to a Lalafell to ask for directions. The Lalafell’s name was Ririan Ruruan. He was a shy fellow of very few words but with a sweet disposition and he helped her out and lead her to the place just outside of Blackbrush.

Once there, she was baffled by the state of the tavern and refused to work there and he agreed that it did not seem like the best place at all. They did enter however to have a look around and they met a Miqo’te man and a Roegadyn woman who exchanged some words with them and offered Meriell more insight into the entirety. All of their words were well noted and she decided to find some other place to work at. After exchanging some words with the Lalafell, he proposed her to go to Gridania and she took him up on the offer as he brought her there.

Gridania itself was gorgeous to her but she wanted something even more low key. The two parted ways and over the next few days, Meriell found employment in the inn in the Alder Springs as a waitress and at times cleaning lady for the rooms.

In the days to come, she worked there hard and made herself already a good name with the community, immediately liked by all. When coming back with some groceries for the kitchen, she ran into Ririan Ruruan. He was shocked to see her but she was overjoyed and showered him with attention and invited him to eat at the new place where she worked at. The two met some odd people that day but Meriell quickly made many new friends during some meeting they ended up in but they quickly separated afterwards to have some alone time. After some heart to heart talks and a nice bonding moment, the Lalafell suddenly asked her out and said he wanted to date her. Shocked but not negative, she gladly agreed and the two became an official couple.
