GENERAL INFORMATION
Neki Nurai (Pronounced: neh-key noo-rye) is not your typical adventurer for she is not in it for neither fame or fortune, she merely wants to help others from the kindness of her heart and to protect those in need. She chose this way of life early on as a little girl, from reading the stories about fanciful tales of heroes that made her want to join the Gods' Quiver to protect her forest homeland that lead her to pick up archery to pursue this fantasy. Though when the Calamity came it not only stolen her hopeful dreams in its fiery blaze but also took her parents. She and her grandfather left the forest to moved to the sea after that harrowing event yet several years later she returned to Gridania, not only to hone her skills in archery more so but to also pursue the aspiration she wished for all those years ago. As time passed Neki's name began to spread across the woodland, not only about her prowess with the bow nor her selfless acts towards others but of rumors returning from the past regarding her rare yet special "gift". All the hearsay lead a renowned yet secretive order named The Scions of the Seventh Dawn to recruit the young miqo'te and aid in their cause. Since joining the Scions she remains loyal to them, seeing their ideals as just and never did falter whether the association was lead into good or bad situations. Whether seen as a Scion or typical adventurer, Neki will do anything to ensure the safety of the thousands that call Eorzea home and to make sure another calamity, much akin to the one she experienced, will never happen again in the near future.

APPEARANCE
- Height:Standing at only four fulms and eight ilms, Neki is considerably short even for a Miqo'te. Most other races tower over her for the only ones who can match her short stature is female Au Ra.
- Weight: At one hundred and two ponze most of Neki's weight is proportionally in her chest, thighs and hips. She also has weight through muscle from many hours of training to keep her body in shape.
- Body: She may be petite but her figure is more a hourglass shape since her bust and hips are evenly proportioned while her waist is narrow, making her hips more defined and giving a slightly more curvy appearance compared to those around her age.
- Complexion: Neki's skin is pale, yet smooth and flawless like porcelain. Due to keeping her distance while fighting, she has little to no scars. She does however occasionally have blisters on her hands if she is using her bow for far too long without gloves. Her pale skin does have a flaw, for she is extremely prone to sunburn.
- Face: Due to her age Neki has a youthful appearance. Her face is more of a round shape with full cheeks and a small chin. On her cheeks and forehead she bears blue-grey striped marking. Since she wears heavy mascara Neki's large, ice blue eyes pop more so even though her pupils takes up most of her eyes. Her eyebrows are short and skinny, so if she has bangs or wears a hat it's hard to see them. She has a small nose and when seen on the side it doesn't protrude out much. Neither thick or thin for Neki's lips are perfectly in-between and always colored with light pink lipstick.
- Hair: Neki has beautiful wavy white hair, which she was born with. If her hair isn't kept in a ponytail, Neki prefers it to be shoulder length or shorter to avoid her hair getting tangled with the arrows in her quiver. Though she likes to change her hair constantly, she likes to keep her natural wavy look.
- Tail: Her tail matches the same color of her hair, a luminous white. It may not be wavy akin to her hair though it's long and fluffy, that is well over two fulms long. Neki takes great care of tail much like the hair atop her head, washing and brushing it to give it a nice shine.

- ♫ Pair of peach blossom earring worn on both ears, a gift from Zachary for joining the tavern staff; on the back of both earring is the engraving "N.N.".
With casual wear she prefers a more feminine appearance by wearing dresses, blouses, skirts, stockings and boots. While for combat attire she likes clothing that will allow her to move with ease, so it has to be light weight and flexible so cloth, leather or chainmail is preferred. She doesn't mind showing a bit of skin but wishes to be not far too much for she is old-fashioned. She is always seen wearing earring, rings and necklaces but rarely is with bracelets since she mostly wears long sleeved clothing. She loves jewelry adorned with flowers, hearts or gems held in silver or gold. She even likes her clothing embellished with some sort of gemstones. Either casual or combat she likes to wear clothing that is only in pink or at least has a touch of pink. |

She often talks with a stutter, either part-word repetitions, prolongations of sound, a series of interjections or blocked speech that is caused by her anxiety around others though once she feels comfortable around certain people Neki will talk more fluidly but still retaining some of her stuttering speech pattern. Her tone of voice is meek, quiet and gentle, which can make it hard to hear what she is saying. She rarely ever raises her voice but if she does her stuttering become far more apparent along with a bit of a Miqo'te accent consisting of rolling r's and hissing, which she tries to hide. When speaking she uses old english vocabulary but she doesn't speak in full old english and only uses several words such as: "'Tis", "Hither", "Mayhap", etc. |
PERSONALITY
Fragile and shy, Neki has difficuly letting others become close to her for she lives in a shell much like a crab to protect herself from the harsh world. It takes time for her to be-friend others for she truly doesn't wish to shun out everyone, even if she fears not being accepted by others but doesn't wish to be alone. Though don't assume that due to her distant nature she is cold-hearted when she is actually a kind and caring person. Once she becomes comfortable to those around her, Neki will begin to slowly draw out her shell and show her true self which is warm, affectionate, loving and giving to those close to her. Those who are dear to Neki will have her loyalty but those who she really cares for will gain her undying loyalty to the point where its hard for her to find fault with those who gained her extreme trust. Much like her loyalty Neki will protect her friends but her family and very dear friends will see her over-protective nature that Neki will do anything to ensure they are safe, even if it costs her life to do so. Even after becoming friends with Neki she will never reveal too much about herself for she doesn't want to burden others with her own problems even though she will always be there to hear out her friend's. Being a excessive worrier, she constantly worries about anything and everything which makes her awfully pessimistic, to the point where she will always see the worst of any situation. It should be noted that Neki can be terribly touchy and sensitive so its best to tread with caution for her feelings can be easily hurt even if it was never meant to be. Her sensitive side causes her to tear up easily from the smallest little thing that makes her feel happy or sad and Neki's sensitivities makes her a sentimental softie for anything can jar her memory whether good or bad from a particular scent, going through old pictures, to certain places. She can also be temperamental since her emotions are always running rampant due to she follows by what she feels at any given moment. Deep down inside, Neki wishes nothing more than to explore the world without her protective shell but her own timid and fearful attitude is what keeps her inside.

Growing up Neki was taught the teachings of both Azeyma, the Warden and Menphina, the Lover. Yet she prays more often to Menphina than Azeyma. She will also at times pray to her guardian, Oschorn, the Wanderer for safe travels and so his command of the wind can guide her arrows. |

Never having a formal education Neki isn't particularly academically smart although, she was taught about the world outside her forest home from her father, who even taught her how to read and write. However after the Calamity her lessons stopped which causes her to have difficulty understanding more complex words when reading and how to properly spell words she isn't familiar with. Neki is more known for her knowledge regarding how to react quickly in combat and being able to easily read others based on their emotions towards others. |
DISORDERS

From witnessing firsthand the destruction the Calamity caused from Bahamut's desire to see the world burn, she became deathly afraid of fire. For it stole her parents, her home and her joyful childhood. Since then she gained an irrational fear of fire, trying to stay full well away from any blaze and going too much out of her way to prevent ones. She is uncomfortable around all flames, from the smallest flicker to a wildfire. Though she is more petrified of being surrounded in a wall fire or witnessing a home burn for it can cause her to have serious panic attacks. Yet she can not stay away from all flames, she still needs fire for light, for warmth, to cook and because of this Neki is forced to try her best to avoid a fire by always checking anything that requires a flame to ensure one does not start. |
Throughout most of Neki's life she has dealt with the anxious feeling of not being accepted along with being judged by her peers, strangers and even friends. Heart racing, trembling and blushing when around others with the never ending fear of what negative thoughts people must think of her. She wasn't always this way, she was always shy but used be far more friendly to everyone instead of locking herself away by keeping her distance. At a young age she was subjected to heavy bullying both physical and verbal because of her being a half-breed. As a result of the bullying she became who she is today, forever worrying, nervous and distant when it comes to social situations. Though as time has passed she is slowly healing by making friends who love and accept her for who Neki truly is but the fear is will forever be there. |

Unlike most people who sleep normally throughout the day or night, Neki can not do this for she suffers from a rare sleep disorder. Her sleep pattern is out of alignment that causes her to only sleep on and off in a series of naps throughout the night and day, because of this she will appear exhausted due to too many naps during the day along with having insomnia at night when trying to slumber. At times she will doze off just about anywhere together with yawning often to try and stay awake. Due to her need to stay attentive for long hours at a time, she turned to caffeinated drinks such as brewed coffee along with black tea but as time passed she began to grow addicted to caffeine and will show signs of withdrawal symptoms if had not consumed any caffeine in long periods of time. It's unknown how she acquired this extremely rare disorder but she speculates that its due to her mixed blood since Seekers and Keepers have opposite sleeping patterns so as a result of her being mixed between the two her own body is unsure what her "normal"
sleep pattern would be. |

COMBAT ABILITIES

Ever since she could remember Neki had an interest in archery, for she saw beauty and grace when seeing arrows fly. She would often watch and learn from afar for she was much too young to hold a bow of her own until her ninth nameday when her grandfather gifted her a short bow along with a quiver and arrows made for a child. After that day she would practice diligently to hone her skills and later be considered a child prodigy. Now, ten years later her once hobby is now used for her way of life. |
One day Neki was singing in the Twelveswood when a moogle names Pukno Poki came to her from following her beautiful voice. Upon seeing a bow on her back Pukno Poki asked if Neki ever wished to become a bard and told her that he could teach her as long as Neki promised to return often to sing songs for him. Neki agreed to the moogle's proposition and Pukno Poki told her how ballads sung and played from the soul can become support that can strengthen the power of her allies. After showing much promise Pukno Poki exclaimed how he waited many moons for someone like Neki then gifting her a harp along with a special charm called a soulstone, which contained the memories of past bards. Since that day Neki still uses the harp Pukno Poki gave her and keeps the soulstone close to her heart. |
A few years before taking up archery Neki's grandfather, N'izem began to teach her pugilism after witnessing for himself the bullying Neki was succumbed to by the nearby Keeper children. Irritated he can't always be there to protect his precious granddaughter, N'izem began to show Neki how to defend herself with hand-to-hand combat. Over the years N'izem taught her more advanced techniques although she never truely mastered her grandfather's combat style for she became more dedicated to archery. Her training did stop however when she left her grandfather's home to pursue the life as an adventurer. Though from time to time she will practice the lesson's her grandfather showed her. |
While browsing the stalls at the Jeweled Crozier in Ishgard a young women approached her and asked if Neki would be interested in learning how to use a gun. Although Neki seemed unsure of such an odd request the women pressed on, telling her the benefits of using firearms and how Neki would be an amazing asset to the Skysteel Manufactory. She was surprised how quickly her name has spread around Ishgard and agreed to give it a shot. Upon entering the manufactory the women introduced herself as Joye along with Neki meeting the guildmaster, Stephanivien. Over the many moons she was taught how to: hold, aim, use and maintain a gun along with how to use a turret to not only help herself in battle but to also give allies support much like her songs. Although it did take her some time to understand how magitek worked, Neki did become quite fond of her new calling. Though she will never give up archery, for she chose to put the gun along with the generator on both her hips while keeping the bow on her back to allow easy access between the two. When Stephanivien felt she was ready he gifted her the first gun she will ever use along with a soulstone, to pass down all she will learn in battle to future generations. With gun and soulstone in hand Neki not only called herself a Bard but also a Machinist. |
At a young age Neki's father, N'mosi, tried to teach his daughter how to wield the power of magic because he spent years traveling across Eorzea to learn as much he could about the three different magicks native to his homeland, that being: thaumaturgy, conjurey and arcanima. With this knowledge N'mosi wished to pass on all he knew to her, so he spent everyday making her study and learn about how to weave the aether into powerful spells. Although when it came time for her to use the lessons she was taught it turned out it was all for naught. With thaumaturgy Neki was much too scared to use due it's focus on death and outright refused to learn it to her father's dismay. Whenever she tried to heal her own wounds with conjurey the spells never healed but caused even more pain than tending the wound. When it came to practicing arcanima she couldn't even cast a single spell due to the complexity with mathematics that Neki could never understand. Her father later gave up since she didn't seem to have the gift he had and later on saw her true calling was archery. Although years later the only spells she could cast were ones with song by weaving the aether with a harp to create music to assist her allies. |
THE ECHO
At two years of age she saw a vision of stars falling from the sky and after this ominous illusion she noticed a strange change, for she could understand what animals are saying along with being able to communicate with them. Although this isn't limited to animals for she can also understand any foreign language whether native to Hydaelyn or from a different plane of existence. She also gained another power, the ability to feel others emotions on a psychic level. Whenever around, touching or thinking of others she being to "feel" that they are feeling at that given moment. Even around certain places she will sense what had happen and her emotions will change to what had occurred in the past. For many years she never understood her "gift" until she joined the Scions of the Seventh Dawn where Minfillia explained that it was called "The Echo" and others like her possess the same rare gift.
