♦ At A Glance

Push aside the Garlean's platinum white hair and gaze upon the Pureblood's third eye, a reminder that even those born in lavishes are subject to the same dangers of life itself. Once a Centurion for the Garlean Empire, Nero found himself stumbling and walking through the sands of Thanalan following an attack upon the Castrum Marinum. Despite his escape from death's clutches, he soon found himself at the mercy of a squad of Immortal Blades, who after kept him held down and taunted briefly did the Garlean beseech the four to spare him, in exchange for servitude and Garlean plans. When it had worked, he was dragged off to Ul'dah. Now stripped of his weapons - A gunspear and a single revolver, his armour and the man's left eye.

Years later, the Garlean found himself at the rank of Sergeant within the Immortal Blades. While many did seem to distrust him - and for good reason - he was priceless in the war effort itself. His expertise in Magitek and the training he received in the Garlean army proved to be one of the most worthwhile and tactically-sound methods in fighting back. Reunited with some of his old gear - his specially crafted boots and gunspear - the Garlean was soon approved to develop Magitek items for Eorzea's citizens.

Under the banner of the Ebonbrand Teknoworks, he soon found a few partners to work with. The goal of the Ebonbrand was to create Magitek which could be sold to the Grand Companies and citizens alike, under the pretense that if Garlemald has it, then so should Eorzea. The Ebonbrand hunts, maims and tests out their magitek products out on various monsters that plague Eorzea and it's people. However, beneath the shroud of noble goals does something more sinister fester.

Despite the Garlean promising himself and those he meets that his loyalty lays in Eorzea and the Immortal Flames, it seems as if most cannot drop the distrust towards the Pureblood. For good reason as well. Those golden eyes of his beneath a light veil of white hair certainly hide something less than pleasant, as if the Ghost of Garlemald lingers within him still.

♦ Appearance

To look like a ghost was the least of the Garlean's worries. White hair upon a paler complexion, the most piercing features that came from the Garlean was his third eye and piercing golden eyes. However, his once lion-like gaze was taken from him with his left eye. Now, he dons a simple black eyepatch over his eye, giving him the appearance of a hardened veteran. Smooth lips hid his pearly whites beneath, straightened and perfect like a well-carved statue.

Moving further down his form, one could clearly see that his favorite colour was the absence of it. Nicely fitted to his body, the Garlean wore a long white coat most of the time, decorated with various pins and medals that he's earned while in service to the Immortal Flames. Long black gloves stretched over his arms, covering them a few ilms beneath his shoulders to give him a more engineer-like feel. He seemed to have no qualms with hiding his Garlean heritage, however. Insisting upon two glowing streaks down his arms, they seemed to be filled with liquid ceruleum. Finally, he wore a simple pair of black trousers and a pair of long white boots. Aerodynamic purposes, he claims.

Beneath his clothing did a different tale spin. While he certainly was one to claim to only work in fields of engineering, his body was toned and scarred from various battles. Akin to the build of a lean swimmer, there seemed to be no fat beneath the flesh and instead decorated with muscle. Certainly a body type to strive for, it seemed ruined with the scars that riddled his body and the lack of a real left arm. If it weren't for his ability to create various magitek wonders, he'd have a simple stump there instead of the wonderfully sleeked-over and masterfully crafted Magitek arm he had now.

♦ Behaviour

If there's one thing that could be said about Nero, it's the fact that the man seems to always be two steps ahead of someone. That said, there's no denying he doesn't enjoy it. Every single moment that the Garlean lives, it's filled with the desire to see those he knows find themselves at his heels. While certainly possessing the qualities of a leader, he constantly finds himself finding ways to manipulate others into serving him - either of their own free will or otherwise.

Manipulating and calculating, everything the Garlean does seems to be pre-planned. Never one to simply rush into a situation, he'll go out of his way to linger and observe before making a decision. This, of course, goes hand in hand with his leader-like qualities. His ability to inspire confidence in even the most dreary of situations could be his most impressive quality. No matter what he says or does, it's always made with the backdrop of being confident - through words or actions.

His downfall seems to be his lack of empathy. Years and years of working for the Garlean Empire seems to have eradicated any sense of remorse or sorrow he could possibly ever hold for someone born in Eorzea. His views simply shift to the focus of 'overcome or step aside', making him certainly one person to never talk to if emotions are a topic of discussion. Enthusiasm, interest or concern will only hold if it is a topic that the Garlean needs.

Combat

Since the Garlean's days of living within his parents home in Garlemald, Nero was always obsessed with Ishgard and it's various Dragoons. Such an obsession and wonderment has transformed into the Garlean's preferred method of combat.

Armed with a lance at eight fulms of length, it seems custom made in the fact that the standard Garlean gun mechanism is attached to the end, making it a gunspear. Able to be loaded with five shots before it has to be reloaded, the Garlean can make the object a deadly piece of weaponry. Made of hardened Garlean steel and wrapped in a dyed black leather, the weapon is a result of his own effort and made of his own design.

Having trained with the weapon for years, his obsession with Dragoons went even further - shown with how he had created boots that have small ceruleum-powered rockets upon it, allowing for him to mimic the movements of a dragoon. While unable to leap quite as high as Ishgardian dragoons, he can propel himself up into the air and control his movements rather effectively, all a result of Garlean technology and years of practice.
