Yululu was not a woman born from riches. But as the eldest sister out of two siblings she’d always been considered as spoiled; which came as a perk from how obedient she was to her family’s ways. Even as a child, Yululu was not afraid to admit it. Her parents were nothing but lowly thieves and scam artists, inventing different ways to build off from the small fortune they had. And it became clear that her younger brother, Sky (previously known as Nojin) did not approve of their actions.

Yululu, however, welcomed them learning the trades to receive luxury at an incredibly early age.

Because the blood that ran inside her parents did not differ fro the blood of her own, holding that slimy feeling with pride as it trickled under her skin. Yululu understood her kin wasn’t the wealthiest of Ul’dah, albeit she knew others were - taking advantage of the dimwits and loners of the city. Her innocent face and natural intuitive mind were like daggers to the ones caught off guard. The lalafell was fully aware of what she was doing. And she had no intention to stop her pathetic lifestyle.

Unloved is the term that could best describe Nojin’s childhood. The younger child of two scamming merchants, the Lalafellian knew he was meant for better things the minute he realised his family’s purpose.

Despite not necessarily having fair morals himself, Nojin refused the “trades” and “business” his Mother and Father ran. Whether it be acting like some helpless Lalafell in the streets or selling items that were either obviously overpriced and/or fake, he had always seen their methods as weak; a trait he denied seeing himself as. This, expectantly, made him the least favorite child out of the two. And while Nojin followed doing things through logic and wit with pride, it was nothing compared to the willingness of his sister, Yululu,, had with taking the same steps as their ‘beloved’ parents.

In hindsight Nojin believed hating his kin was an unhealthy choice, but there was no other option he had. Most of his childhood he had watched his blood gain fortune through false names and backstories, through deceit, and the core what he had considered cowardice.

And he swore to himself that he’d never end up like them.

That is, until the inevitable hit. The chaos that razed down Ul’dah caused turmoil for Yululu, and especially for her parents. Before the tragedy they were finally caught and intimidated by a group of people her Mother and Father scammed, her parents now desperately sobbing. They even offered Yululu herself, which enraged her. She had always been their favorite child - and yet it was easy for them to trade her affection for a quick getaway?
+
The promise he had to himself was ironic too, considering what the Calamity came and stole from his kin. It was clear as day that his family name was slandered with lies. His parents had, yet again, fooled another helpless civilian into handing them their wallet, however, what they didn’t expect was a group of Hyurs returning seeking vengeance — Nojin’s parents’ celebration being cut short.

Nojin saw his parents gutlessness firsthand. They begged, and they pleaded, they even threw their children out to pay their debt. But of course, none of their “negotiations” worked. His Mother and Father were ready to run, and while Nojin would’ve been the person to jump in anger, an even more destructive force hit; the ‘golden’ city he once knew crashing and tearing down in flames.

Typical.

There were no signs of his parents or even his sister when he awakened from the chaos. The only thing he was welcomed with were the eyes of a Hellsguard, stretching out their meaty hand in welcome.

However, their cries were unmatched by the Calamity’s merciless tide. When Ul’dah crashed and burned, unsurprisingly, Yululu’s parents were nowhere to be seen nor was her brother. And while Yululu would eventually learn that her sibling estranged himself for a group of Roegadyn, the lalafellian woman scurried to find comfort among someone else. Which she found as she latched up a family of Hyurs that still had their future standing for them. Yululu did not hesitate to grovel with a sob story amongst their only daughter, receiving the sympathy she wanted as she lied about her deadbeat parents in hopes to yet again, build the throne she would rest on.

When Ul’dah was reborn, so was Nojin. Left as a “orphan” at age seventeen, he did not let the ‘grief’ of his missing family move him, running off and do whatever he could to have his name be known with fear rather than pity. And funnily enough, Nojin eventually learned that his sibling was also doing the same, leaving a taste of disgust running under his tongue. She threw herself without shame with a sob story to a rich Hyurs’ home after the Calamity. Nojin barely pays mind to it, however. He has a higher goal in mind aside from giving attention to his wretched sister, despite damn well knowing they both want the same thing.

There were no signs of his parents or even his sister when he awakened from the chaos. The only thing he was welcomed with were the eyes of a Hellsguard, stretching out their meaty hand in welcome.
