Unloved is the term that could best describe Nojin’s childhood. The younger child of two scamming merchants, the Lalafellian knew he was meant for better things the minute he realised his family’s purpose. Despite not necessarily having fair morals himself, Nojin refused the “trades” and “business” his Mother and Father ran. Whether it be acting like some helpless Lalafell in the streets or selling items that were either obviously overpriced and/or fake, he had always seen their methods as weak; a trait he denied seeing himself as. This, expectantly, made him the least favorite child out of the two. And while Nojin followed doing things through logic and wit with pride, it was nothing compared to the willingness of his sister, Yululu,, had with taking the same steps as their ‘beloved’ parents.

In hindsight Nojin believed hating his kin was an unhealthy choice, but there was no other option he had. Most of his childhood he had watched his blood gain fortune through false names and backstories, through deceit, and the core what he had considered cowardice.

And he swore to himself that he’d never end up like them.

The promise he had to himself was ironic too, considering what the Calamity came and stole from his kin. It was clear as day that his family name was slandered with lies. His parents had, yet again, fooled another helpless civilian into handing them their wallet, however, what they didn’t expect was a group of Hyurs returning seeking vengeance — Nojin’s parents’ celebration being cut short. Nojin saw his parents gutlessness firsthand. They begged, and they pleaded, they even threw their children out to pay their debt. But of course, none of their “negotiations” worked. His Mother and Father were ready to run, and while Nojin would’ve been the person to jump in anger, an even more destructive force hit; the ‘golden’ city he once knew crashing and tearing down in flames.

There were no signs of his parents or even his sister when he awakened from the chaos. The only thing he was welcomed with were the eyes of a Hellsguard, stretching out their meaty hand in welcome.

When Ul’dah was reborn, so was Nojin. Left as a “orphan” at age seventeen, he did not let the ‘grief’ of his missing family move him, running off and do whatever he could to have his name be known with fear rather than pity. And funnily enough, Nojin eventually learned that his sibling was also doing the same, leaving a taste of disgust running under his tongue. She threw herself without shame with a sob story to a rich Hyurs’ home after the Calamity. Nojin barely pays mind to it, however. He has a higher goal in mind aside from giving attention to his wretched sister, despite damn well knowing they both want the same thing.
