Basic Info

• Original Name: A'rihan Tia

Appearance

Height: 5 fulms, 11 ilms.

• Weight: 165 ponzes.

• Complexion: Well-tanned, warm orange.

• Hair: Blonde with reddish-orange highlights.

• Eyes: Amber.

• Particular Traits: Nyx has a light scar that runs the length of his face on the right side. Thankfully it left his eye completely unmarred. Along his entire left arm and chest is a full sleeve tribal inking that eventually melds into a series of geometric shapes. He also has a single piercing in his left ear and two industrial piercings in the other. There's a hint of a tattoo that wraps around the back of his neck and caresses his left cheek. It seems to be similar to the one that covers his entire left arm and just might give someone the impression that a tattoo covers his back.

• Voice:  Charming Tenor with a bit of a thick lilt.

• Clothing Style: Tight leathers, topless if he can get away with it. Mails and plate leather for battle. Anything that allows him movement. He has a deep-seated love for belts, buckles, and pretty much anything that jingles while he moves, but a shameless love for anything that shows off his body in such a way that doesn't make him completely naked. Gotta keep something to make them keep coming.

• Laterality: Left-handed.

Nyx is a tall, well-toned mass of both male and lean muscle. At 5'11" he is above the average for most Miqo'te men, and even some Hyur men, but he has had to peer up at many an Elezen or Roegadyn. With skin that is as rich as the clays of the deserts, his original origins from the Sagolii might be obvious to some. His entire left arm is engulfed in a sleeve of tribal tattoos and the ink creeps to his left pectoral. Along his spine is an odd series of inkings that look similar to a stylized spinal cord that eventually emerges as some sort of wings towards his shoulders and continues up towards his neck.

Blonde hair licks at his face, hanging in pin-straight chunks that are usually held back with a bandana so that the fierce red highlights face against his cheeks and neck. A patch of hair covers the center of his chin and is sometimes allowed to grow further up his jawline to compliment lazy days where he doesn't shave. If someone should have the great fortune of catching Nyx in a moment of undress, which wouldn't be all that hard, the same wispy hair crawls from between his legs and up towards his belly button. Sometimes he dyes bits of this for the Hells of it. If made to stay away from civilization for extended periods of time, some might note that the blonde fades into an almost pale, bone color. It is speculated that his hair may be something other than blonde, naturally. Amber eyes are often seen peering out from under messy bangs and rarely is his visage not twisted into a big brotherly type smile.

Religion

The Miqo'te isn't very religious, only praying to Llymlaen, the Navigator if he prays at all. He will sometimes make offerings if there is a shrine he passes in Limsa, believing that if he doesn't pay at least some small token that his speed will be taken from him or he would be swept into the ocean. A feared God (or goddess!) is a happy one!

Of course, that's not to say that he doesn't pray to whoever will listen if he's in a tight spot. If there's a problem, it's likely he can be heard muttering "By the Gods...".

Alignment

Nyx is very neutral-chaotic, caring very little about what happens between factions and countries for the most part. He will help just about anyone, for the right price.

Personality

Quirks

• Gets a bit cheeky when people doubt his level of fitness.
• Loves to smile, despite the situation. Sometimes done on purpose to piss people off.
• Runs his hands through his hair when he's either thinking, frustrated, or flirting.
• Also likes to play with the bits of hair on his chin for the same reasons.
• When angered, he will twitch his tail, pin his ears back, and his expression is serious.

• Far too trusting of women when they're in bed with him.

Talents

Other than his skils in bed, ladies, Nyx is a skilled lancer in his own rights. The male is lithe, athletic, and has the ability to run circles around his opponents with ease. His fighting style involves many spins, rolls, and swings to dismember his foes, but he does like to keep them at arm's length due to his penchant for using longer, poled weapons. He is also the son of a skilled blacksmith (now deceased) who also played a large role as a weapon master in Gridania when his family moved. This was passed down to Nyx so he has a decent knowledge of weapons and different forms of fighting. Mind you, this is also due to his penchant to read a great deal of books on anatomy and weapon history.

Having lived in various places as a mercenary, Nyx traveled to Limsa and Ul'dah and worked a second job as a bartender. He has extensive knowledge in all things drinks and likes to showboat his skills whenever he can.

Nyx also has a pretty amazing singing voice, but that's a well-kept secret unless it's behind closed doors with a woman.

Intelligence

Nyx is highly intelligent, though moslty in a street-smarts regard. He has trained under several high ranking lancers and he has a keen eye for beating opponents many have thought would overwhelm the Miqo'te. As an information broker, he must also maintain something of a sixth sense for detecting lies and picking up on hints. An intuition for liars if you will.

As odd as it would seem for someone who very clearly likes most things physical, Nyx has been known to lock himself away in his room and skim through books all night. This is usually played off as him having company in his room and he places a hat on his door to thwart someone barging in.

Abilities and Skills

Personal

• Plays the guitar.
• Fantastic singer, but will deny it fully.
• Has an impressive vertical and horizontal jump/reach.
• Can dance quite well, however, this is due to his fighting style, which resembles graceful movements.

Weapons

Nyx is proficient with almost any type of long-handled weapon, such as spears, polearms, etc. He prefers top-heavy items since the downswing allow him to vault his body in such a way that he can use movement to escape attacks. Since his mass is often less than that of his opponent's, it also allows him an easier time with pressing his body weight into forward attacks.

Magic

• Nyx detests magic and has never tried to use it in any capacity. He feels that magic is simply ones way of hiding their physical weaknesses and considers it the easy way out of a situation. He'd rather beat someone with his fists than scorch them with borrowed magic.

Crafting

• This Miqo'te is a diligent miner and blacksmith. The reasons for these crafts are mostly selfish in that he seeks the best ore to make the best weapons. Nyx, when not hitting on women or off doing something alone, is usually scouring the countryside for newer, better ore or trying to meld new combinations...testing them on trees and various things near the Harbinger estate.

Relatives

A'ria Ashkala (Sister) - Nyx lived in Gridania with his sister for a time when he and their family made refuge there. Due to the male's lifestyle choices, he decided to leave A'ria to pursue 'other' options. Being the selfish creature that he is, he expected her to perish because of her gentle and trusting nature and believes her to be dead.

Affiliations

Nyx is a Martial Archon in the Harbingers of Dawn at current. He has sworn his allegiance to Lady Faye Covington's cause. However, this was not always the case.

Originally, Nyx's family was a small group of Tias that belonged to the Antelope clan which they divested from when Nyx's father refused to fight to be heard.

Later in life, Nyx joined an organization called the Brotherhood of Five. In essence, the Brotherhood was originally geared towards employing skilled mercenaries to carry out harder bounties than the city-states could handle. Thes days, Nyx isn't sure WHAT the aim of the Brotherhood is....Time will tell.

History

Name and Lifestyle

Name Etimology

Nyx means "night" which is a bit of a slap-in-the-face nickname given to him by a pirate aboard one of the many ships docked in Limsa. The crew would often put him on patrol at night to endanger him because of his fair hair. Because of the constant teasing and attempts to off him in this manner, Nyx eventually ended up killing the crew and adopting the alias as something of an ironic nickname.
