Appearance & Personality

Orqina cuts a slight figure, being slim and not especially tall. Her hair is black with purple highlights, although the color of the highlights is known to change. It is usually cut in a men's style, or worn in dreadlocks. What stands out most about Orqina's appearance is her red skin, and that her left arm is missing at the elbow. This is concealed through the use of a mechanical arm. In terms of her style, Orqina displays fluidity, having a number of both masculine and feminine outfits that she changes between.

Orqina is slow and measured in her speech and mannerisms, but is known to become more lively when discussing research or new knowledge. She is easily flustered when it comes to romance, and suggestive comments leave her a brighter shade of red. She is known to be somewhat ill-tempered, and can have a ruthless, authoritarian streak when it comes to achieving her goals. She is fiercely loyal to her tribe and her friends, and has no qualms about putting herself in harm's way for their sake.

Biography

Childhood

The only daughter of four children to her family, Orqina was somewhat of a misfit as she never took to the martial traditions of her tribe. Though her mother encouraged her to take up the blade, Orqina instead occupied herself with her studies. Her father, a leatherworker, encouraged Orqina's studies, leading to the two developing a close relationship.

Adulthood

When her brother died in a border skirmish with the Qerel tribe, she become completely disillusioned with the Xaela's way of life, travelling to Eorzea in search of some knowledge of how to stop what she saw as senseless violence. In Eorzea, she found herself forced to work as a mercenary for nearly two years when she was tricked by a group of pirates into believing they were research assistants, handing them all of her gil. In this time she became a student of arcanistry, working with the guild, and attempting to record all she could about Eorzea. This continued until she joined the Amber Alyssum, and shortly after discovered a soul stone which taught her the secrets of black magic.

Present

Since that time, Orqina's focus in her research has shifted to military and political systems. Having avenged her brother, her next goal is to establish a single, unified Xaela nation. One which respects tribal differences so long as they are united in common cause, and one which ruthlessly crushes any who stray from that cause. She believes a strong leader is necessary to direct her people's martial traditions away from each other, and to ultimately save her people. Her father's death due to illness only reinforced this, and encouraged her to be more active in the tribe's decision making. Along the way Orqina has come to assume a role as tactician in the company, leading several missions including the one where she would lose her arm. She would later become engaged to a Miqo'te Dark Knight named Midnight Himitsu.

The two had a bitter falling out over how best to treat Midnight's condition, and when Orqina kissed Midnight. The two hold each other in some regard, but are on shaky terms. ● Ravenael Malfleuer : Orqina's friend. The two bonded over shared research and discussion of theories about aether. ● Yesugen Aether : Orqina's friend. Yesugen would gift Orqina her astrology deck after leaving the company. ● Anya Noire : Orqina's colleague. The two have a fierce rivalry, exacerbated by Anya's ability to get under Orqina's skin.
