The horn slid back into the man's stomach, only to be snapped off and left inside. "They will worship the endurance of Rhino, Miqo'te." The God commanded, vanishing in back into the clouds from which he came.

Long ago, deep in the Sagolii Desert, a male seeker was exiled from his tribe along with his pregnant mate. The lovers committed sin by sharing a heart and a bed, an act only the tribe's breeding male could only perform. The Tia was removed immediately to pay for his grave offense. This wouldn't cripple them for too long, however, as the lovers also shared a longing to forge a path of their own--to discover their true god and calling in life. Of course, karma refused to turn forturne in their favor. Their price was having no resources to survive; no support, shelter, or weapons. They only had each other.
The sands ate away at the two, and third to come. Every sun Azeyma tortured them with her radiant glow, while every moon Menphina offered little warmth in her veil of darkness.

Their days would've remained uneventful until death, had it not been for that one day. A year into their pilgrimage, his sweet passed away, leaving behind a small, nameless babe. She was birthed in exchange of her mother's life. Now the man was alone in the sands, burdened with heartbreak and the responsibility of a new soul.

That night, the mourning man was visited by a giant, monstrous, horned beast. Its structure was impossibly large, spanning larger than a descended Zu, but just short of a mighty Behemoth. The beast's powerful desire for blood lust was evident, more so when it rushed them like rolls of silent storm clouds; ominous and destructive. The father jumped into action by blocking his child, and yelled, "Oh, great demon! Have you a heart, you will leave us! Leave us to the cruelty of the sands, great demon!"

The demon banished his words, rushing its powerful horn tip clean through the man's gut. His ragdoll body was high to the sky. The horn gleaming and sleek with blood of the man, the hide guarding its face accepting the offering of blood splattering from above. And yet, still, the father moved.

The impaled man used his claws to gouge the eye of the beast out and consume it. The beast released high pitched, prolonged screams and cries of agony. In a frenzy of pain, it slung the man off his crimson horn. It toppled over defenselessly, squirming its powerful thighs to distract from the nauseating cruelty it was given.

There they lay, bloodied and near death. A beast cried for the mercy he refused to give, mourning his lost eye. "Sunchild," he wailed, "my sight! I cannot see! Please, I will grant you one wish, warrior, in exchange for my vision."

After a moment, the man obliged his offer with one of his own. "Stick your mighty horn in my stomach, Beast. I will have my people worship you, then. Only then will you grow your eye back." The monster did just that. The horn slid back into the man's stomach, only to be snapped off and left inside.

"I will tell Azeyma of your promise. You will be granted peace. However, this is so long as they will worship the endurance of Rhino and the forgiveness of Azeyma, Miqo'te." The God commanded, then vanished in back into the clouds from which he came.

Rhino was founded by Rh'etki Nunh, father of Rh'uaza Etki and three sons. The presumably fictitious tale of how Rhino came to be is the only record about the subject that happens to be known by few. Unfortunately, the original story has long since been erased and forgotten from present history. During the period they were being studied, many scholars believed this folk-lore was told by the very leader himself; Rh'etki Nunh. Because of his powerful story-telling, his quickly assembled, devoted tribe of only 13 was always inspired to last longer in combat than any other. Interestingly, their culture preferred story-telling over keeping records. They also pride themselves in collecting Rhino horns from deceased elders, and displaying it on their heads or on their stomachs.
Rhino is a very peculiar tribe because of how secluded they kept themselves. Even though they're a two letter tribe, they refused to make many lasting connections to neighboring tribes in Sagolii. They're commonly known for talking in a different tongue when around each other. It was normal for their children to not speak Eorzean until mastering their own tribe's tongue.

Rhino is now a dead tribe, as they fell victim to a viscous genocide. Their homes were raided, burned to the ground, and his people were slaughtered. The cause is still unknown to this day. Everything about the Rhino tribe is forgotten in the sands, and there's nothing to remember them by due to their absence of written documentation. Just like the mighty Rhino, their existence rolled back into the clouds...

A P P E A R A N C E

The Rhino Tribe were all light-skinned people of color; often ranging from a light mocha to a milky hazelnut brown. They adorned themselves in bones of Rhinos that passed away by old age or other means of death--never by hunting. The jewelry and head pieces are remarkably crafted with skill and care. The headdresses were sex-specific by tradition. A beautiful ivory horn poked from the side of the male's heads, while females traditionally wore bleach white horns in the middle of their heads.

A C C E P T E D

Wearing Horns. Rhino horns are held at upmost respect,
as they viewed the animal as a religious figure. This showed pride,
power, and endurance .
White Magic. This energy is channeled by singing in
their native tongue. As the story goes, healing played a major role in
their history. Using magic to mend wounds was not unusual.
Brawling. Rhino pride themselves in endurance. If they
fail, they'll persist until they succeed. Sparring is a
mandatory practice that takes place every sun.

T A B O O

Singing. If a tribe member is not trained in healing
and sings, that's considered a disrespect..
Hunting Rhinos. An offense not taken lightly. This
could result in immediate exile, or worse, death.
Sharing Tribal Tongue. Teaching outsiders about
their language is considered 'unholying' their tongue.
Same as above, they will be exiled or killed.

Q U I R K S

Combative. People of the Rhino tribe were, simply
put, always looking for a fight. They hungered to
grow in strength.
Prideful. When communticating with other tribes,
they demanded respect be received to be given. They
were trained to never back down from their beliefs.

Some of these rumors are untrue, speculation, or are greatly exaggerated. Please feel free to add your own rumors under the Player Character category!
◢ Common Rumors - Easily overheard. Use these freely!
"Prideful arseholes, is what they were. They probably had it coming to them; with the amount of people they snubbed. Bastards."
"Rhuaza Kasa. Do you know her? I heard she's last of them."

◢ Uncommon Rumors - A little more difficult to hear. Use sparingly or ask first!
"They say Amal'ja soldiers occupy their land now. Maybe they had something to do with it?"
"If you go to their land at night, you can hear a ghostly voice of a man echoing a story. It's true, I heard it!"

◢ Rare Rumors - Very rarely overheard. Please ask before using!
"When the tribe died, so too did the Rhinos in the Sagolii desert. I swear, how creepy would it be if they depended on the Rh Tribe?"
“I remember doing an investigation on the genocide. Don't tell anyone, but...whoever killed those people wasn't human. ”

OOC INFORMATION

Personal RP Limits
Rhino Tribe is a concept that has mature content and themes (violence, sexuality, drug / alcohol use). This is for my character Rhuaza Kasa. Lore-bending is a given.
