==History==
There are plenty of miserable folk in the Jewel of the Desert. Be it the merchant seeking one last chance at striking it big, the Ala Mhigan refugees looking upon the Gladiators' Guild as the only possible employment they may get, the exoticism of their kind having waned off over the years, or even working-class Lalafells' who take up a trade and refine it in the hopes of becoming as good as Godbert Manderville one day.
+
A former Sultansworn who, after the twofold humiliating incidents of the Traders' Spurn, the loss of Oathkeeper and the general sentiment in Ul'dah towards authority, chose to leave the organization, enlisting as a Free Paladin instead once the opportunity arose. From there, she wandered the land in the defense of the people. Those who were not important enough in the mind of the Brass Blades would find a sword and shield willing to put her life on the line for them. Be it in the Desert or the Shroud, the little lady made her way protecting those who could not protect themselves.

Sasati Sati was none of these - she was born in a devout family that served Nald'thal in the Arrzaneth Ossuary. Her mother, Nanamu Namu, and her father, Reredaha Tetedaha, had met while "servicing" (read : throwing onto a pile of corpses) yet another poor soul who hadn't paid the toll to Nald'thal in order to secure a proper burial. This task was not a noble one - yet it had to be done, and they were nothing if not devout in their service to the god of the dead. Each day, her parents would go to work and take care of whomever had landed on their doorstep with a knife in the back. They were thaumaturges as well, just ones who felt that service to Nald'thal was more important than their thirst for knowledge.
+
Perhaps it is why she chanced upon a group of Ala Mhigan refugees fleeing Quarrymill through Snakemolt, chased by a Voidsent that had escaped from Amdapor Keep. Perhaps it is why she slew the creature with no hesitation, and noticed a curious white stone, a cane etched on its face. In Eorzea, fate often has designs for the Spoken Races that transcends barriers. She escorted the group to Highbridge, keeping to herself the cynic thought that no one in Ul'dah would lift a single finger to help them.

Which is probably why they never rose to prominence in the guild, and why Sasati often found herself at odds with the other thauaturges' children. They sought to follow in their parents' footsteps, but she always felt like there could be more - Thaumaturgy was merely the path to the endless void of knowledge. She often looked to the palace to see the Sultansworn, but they'd been shamed several times, and only kept to their jobs as guardians of the Sultana and her treasury at the Sultana's behest.
+
Camping outside in the desert, a flame merely present to cook meat she'd valiantly hunted, she began to hear a voice from the tiny stone, laying the foundation to a bigger understanding of what she should seek to do. As she listened to the voice more and more, she found herself attracted to the conjurer's arts she had learned in her time at the Palace. Sword and shield may be efficient, but there are issues that cannot be solved merely by smashing the hell out of them. A staff of dried wood in hand, she almost discarded her previous weapons right then and there. Only nostalgia prevented her from making that terrible mistake.

Still, she felt more of a connection with the sword and shield than the magical arts. Her parents, seeing her interest in these matters, encouraged her to see what actual combat was like by watching gladiators fight at the arena. She was enthralled, but not by the savage beasts the gladiators slew, nor by their crude, yet effective techniques. She was not taken by the narratives' spun by those who would make coin upon others' fights. She would see the techniques, the way the bodies move, the way their personal Aether reacted to their techniques. This was fascinating! She always thought that only the Thaumaturges wielded Aether, and that the Gladiators did it, albeit unconsciously, as well fascinated her.
+
Not being naive as to what exactly she was doing, she started wearing a cloak to hide most of her armor and face. Even with trying to claim this was merely conjury, anyone from Stillglade Fane would immediately recognize what she was doing as the domain of the Padjals. She even suspected they would send someone after her. After all, she'd overheard they did the same to people who claimed they could perform Black Magic - why not its polar opposite?

As such, she was taken on as an aide to the gladiators, and grew up among them rather than her parents, who hoped that she would one day do as Raubahn did - Rise to the top of the Bloodsands and become chief of the Immortal Flames. Even if she did not worship Nald'thal as they did, they knew that their lives were sacrificed to Nald'thal's needs, and hers need not be if she was not ready to make that sacrifice.
+
Still, she wanders, trying not to stay long in one area, healing the land and the people, defending them as much as possible. There are many wrongs what need to be righted in Eorzea, but Eorzea doesn't need another hero.

The more she learned of sword techniques and shield techniques, the less she thought of the gladiators - Far from noble like the Sultansworn, they were more the same kind of people as the Brass Blades. Did they defend Ul'dah? Perhaps, but she'd heard the rumors about how it was easy to bribe them, how they broke the law themselves without regard to their example. She still looked to the palace, in the hopes that one day, the Sultansworn would regain their honor.

The day came where she stood on the Bloodsands - the opening fight to a stacked card, and with sword and shield in hand, she fought hard. Both were promising rookies, but only one could come out victorious. And it was not Sasati. Taking every advantage possible, the Highlander gladiator kicked sand in her eyes and forced her to yield after a well-placed shield strike. This was not a blow to her confidence, but rather, a blow to her esteem of gladiatorship. She did not have the same fire for victory as someone who needed the fights to live. She did not quit the guild, but quit being an active gladiator almost on the spot. She knew she did not have the kind of drive that would lead her to do such a thing, but did not fault others from doing that. Her destiny lied elsewhere - She eventually mastered the sword and shield, soon being scouted out for possible candidacy as a Sultansworn.

Still, even as she served, she felt she was not yet ready. If none could restore the prestige of the Sultansworn from within Ul'dah, then she would do so from outside, enough that all should know the men and women serving the Sultana directly are of honor and virtue.

A girl raised in religious reverence of Nald'thal, she opens her heart to the Twelve, and with this perspective, gains a larger understanding of her place on Eorzea and that her oath to the Sultanate is no longer enough to protect the people.

Appearance

Knowing that many in the city place importance on looks, she makes sure to take care of herself and her equipment. Her hair is long and thoroughly washed. Her hair is two-toned, lighter at the ends than the roots. She has a fair face, and the characteristic deep pupils of the Dunesfolk. Of course, if she has her druthers, none will see her face, nor remember much about it.

History

A former Sultansworn who, after the twofold humiliating incidents of the Traders' Spurn, the loss of Oathkeeper and the general sentiment in Ul'dah towards authority, chose to leave the organization, enlisting as a Free Paladin instead once the opportunity arose. From there, she wandered the land in the defense of the people. Those who were not important enough in the mind of the Brass Blades would find a sword and shield willing to put her life on the line for them. Be it in the Desert or the Shroud, the little lady made her way protecting those who could not protect themselves.

Personality

She embodies the values that the Sultansworn used to have. By sword and shield, she seeks to right the wrongs of the world, and while she may be unable to do so in her own city, she will gladly lend her arms. A true knight in shining armor that could only come out of a den of corruption.

However, she is host to a power she should not possess, and she knows fully well how and why she has it. She is quick to dismiss her deeds, and to deflect credit onto others. The less people know of the power she possesses, the more she will be able to push forth and help those in need.
