Appearance

At full height Selthrana stands at 5'7", weighing around 125 lbs. She has generally Mediterranean features with olive skin, long, dark straight hair, dark blue eyes, thick eyebrows and a snub nose. Her face is often devoid of much expression, except for the sharpness in her eyes which can seem intimidating. Her jawline is a little too angular to have what one could describe as conventional beauty, but she is not particularly ugly either. On the rare occasion when she smiles, her features can be rather appealing.

Her body language is often closed-off, standing straight with frequently folded arms.

Currently, she has allied herself with Aethertide Ventures, helping them...do whatever they do.

Friends

When she finds a place to settle down for long enough, and the right people come along, maybe one day.

The person she is closest to now is Khyran Oisin.

She has also become close to Connor Tavarin, Defiant Bride, Sokhatai and T'zeitel Qalli. There are a few people around that she would likely want to know better, as the whole "making friends" thing is starting to catch on.

Abilities

Selthrana is an arcanist who uses an extensive knowledge of alchemy to combine formulas from both disciplines to enhance both. Much of her research is independent, exploring unconventional uses of aether and alchemical recipies, especially in the field of biochemistry. Her current abilities are as follows (list subject to change as I gather more lore to work with/come up with ideas that work within given boundaries):

Illusion: can use her aether to manipulate surroundings to appear different. Conversely, she can inject someone with a potion that will create an illusion only in their mind. The first is more draining, but she doesn’t have to get close to her target and affects everyone within the manipulated area. The second is less draining but can only affect one person per injection, and she has to get close enough.

Drain: She can tap directly into someone’s aether and can use it to replenish her own, but the net gain is relatively small. The other option is that she can inject someone with a potion that will drain and store their aetherial energy which can then be used herself or for someone else. Net gain obviously larger.

She carries several inscribed gems that summon unique carbuncles:

Work in progress, will revise once I have the particulars settled. Suffice to say for now that the reason she has atypical carbuncles is that she was trained in an isolated area where they had to make do with what gems were available, often having to mine them themselves.

Potions she can make:

Healing (limited, mostly patches up injuries slightly faster, disinfects, etc.)

Specialized inks that enhance her arcanima.

Poisons (neurotoxins, muscle relaxants, sleep, silencing, etc.)

Hallucinogens (from full on visual/audio hallucination, to simple openness to suggestion.)

Explosives (Fire and lightning aspected, distractionary "flash bomb" types)

Aether diversion (small amount can direct flow of aether in a given direction, large amounts can drain one almost entirely)

She almost constantly carries around a satchel filled with potions and other useful items

3 Potions for healing injuries (can take a while, merely speed up the body's natural mending processes)

3 Potions for killing bacteria and viruses

2 Potions for enhancing mental clarity

2 Potions for aiding relaxation/sleep

2 Potions for increased energy (tend to have bad crashes after wearing off)

3 Separate vials for specialized inks to enhance arcanima (one for healing factors, one for damaging organic matter, one for manipulation of matter)

1 Vial for storing drained aether

1 Roll of bandages

Background

You'll have to extract the details of Selthrana's past on your own, but here are a few things that aren't as juicy to get you started:

When she was seventeen years old, she lived among the Sylphs around the East Shroud. This was where she began her pursuit of alchemy and has studied it voraciously ever since. After spending about six or seven years there, she moved on and traveled across various parts of Eorzea working where she could and learning in any library she could find or any friendly beast tribe.

One might understand that having not lived in many places with established law or strict enforcement (she ducks in and out of the city-states on occasion, but otherwise stuck to outskirts), she's not always used to the idea. She rather keeps to a personal code and values that more than anything else, though she's learned enough surface level customs to abide by them. At least in public.
