CURRENT ALIAS: Shofie Mahowyn

BIRTH NAME: Currently Unknown

RACE: Mixed race Miqo'te (Seeker of the Moon)

GENDER: Female

HEIGHT: 4'9" ilms

WEIGHT: 135 ponz

NAMEDAY: 26th Day of Fifth Umbral Moon, 1553

OCCUPATION Treasure hunter/thief/muscle for The Dusk Wolves

MARITAL STATUS: Married to Rhen Maverick

Physical

Shofie is a short, very muscular, dark-skinned miqo'te woman. Her physique is like that of a weight-lifter. She is not svelte or thin, but most of her weight comes from the sheer amount of muscle she carries on her small frame. She has a somewhat stocky appearance, due to her muscle. Her shoulders and arms are notably very large. She frequently gets mistaken as male, something which does not really bother her. She carries herself with the casual, confident air of someone who is used to winning most of the fights she starts.

Shofie is mixed-race, her mother a Keeper of the Moon, and her father a Seeker of the Sun. This isn't usually immediately obvious to most people, but a fellow miqo'te might notice it pretty quickly.

Shofie has dark red hair, which she usually keeps cut very short, as she finds long hair annoying.

She has heterochromia--her left eye is blue, her right eye green. From a distance, they look very similar; it's not until one gets closer this difference is usually discernible.

She has noticeable freckles on her cheeks and across the bridge of her nose. Her nose is dark.

Shofie has a large, purple tattoo on her left shoulder of a crescent moon, and a series of approximately 30 stars of varying sizes that trail over the left side of her body. Some of the stars travel as high as her neck, down her left arm, and down her side, over onto her belly, and the top of her buttocks. Unless she is covered fully from neck to toe, at least a few of the stars or part of the moon will be visible on either her neck or her forearm.

Shofie is rarely found without some kind of armor that completely covers her body; she feels unsafe otherwise. Even when she is dressed down for a simple trip into town, she will still wear clothing that covers most of her body. Shofie nearly always wears a simple cloth or leather wrap around her tail, and it is sure to cover her tail at the base.

Despite being a brawler, Shofie's body is mostly free from all but the most minor of scars. The only notable exception is a large scar a few inches to the left of her navel. The scar is clearly a healed deep stab wound. If someone happens to see this scar and comment on it, she will immediately become sullen and withdrawn, or outright hostile. She will not talk about it.

Personality and Behavior

Shofie is fun-loving and adventurous often to the point of recklessness. She will often dive into something without thinking. She thinks and acts with her heart, and is exceptionally passionate in anything she decides to commit herself to, and incredibly difficult to drag into something she's not interested in. She is a very sharp individual, however, her personality lends itself more to apathy in most things that don't directly concern or interest her. This can lend the impression to some that she is a bit of an airhead. When it's time to get down to business, she becomes very focused and serious.

She is an expressive individual, very animated when talking, very messy when she eats. She lacks manners and tact, and is often blunt when talking to people.

Shofie tends to dress herself in autumn colors; reds, browns, oranges.

Combat

Her fighting style is that of a berserker, a burst of barely-controlled aether that magically enhances her rage. This stems from her training with magic when she was younger, but the way she uses the aether is not something she was taught formally. It's a cobbled together self-taught manipulation of aether to suit her purposes.

She will fight rationally and even calmly until she becomes injured, or more specifically, has her blood drawn or is angered. Then she is unrelenting. Once angered, she fights much more aggressively, wildly, and becomes incredibly dangerous in this state for both friend and foe. She may outright frenzy and become completely uncontrollable. Her anger is both her greatest strength and her greatest weakness. Her efforts to control it have been met with failure. After much practice, she is able to safely spar with others.

People close to her know to stay clear of her in her frenzied state, as she may strike friends just as easily as foe. She is exceptionally dangerous, but at a cost. She can't keep up her frenzied combat style for more than a few minutes. So far, the only person able to safely approach her in this state is Rhen. She breaks down completely if he attempts to stop her or restrain her, because her fear of hurting her only loved one overrides her otherwise blind anger.

She has been used in the past a few times as something akin to a grenade; intentionally set into a frenzy, and flung into the thick of enemies to cut them down.

She finds immense pleasure from combat with a skilled opponent, caring little for physical pain.

She is skilled in fist-fighting and axes, and has some minor ability with a bow and a gun, though she does not favor ranged combat, so she never excelled with bows or guns. She basically knows how to not shoot herself in the foot, and that's about it.

Shofie's Halberd

Shofie’s clan put incredibly heavy emphasis on spearwork.

Spears were used in hunting, fishing, and less obviously in things like dance displays. Shofie is actually an astonishingly accomplished dancer as a result of relentless training since she was about four. This lends her an edge in combat situations, as she weaves in and out easily among multiple opponents easily.

Girls were taught how to make their spears at a very young age, and modified them constantly as they grew.

Frequently, they’d tie special cloth to them, and add small sets of beads. The most accomplished hunters had more beads and ribbons; and their spears made more noise as a result. It was a sign of how amazing a hunter was if their spear was laden with extra beads, because it took skill to make the beads quiet enough on the hunt, and yet be effective enough to kill anything with it.

When Shofie left her clan, she abandoned her spear, and her mother broke it in a symbol of disowning her. Attempting to distance herself from her kin, she made herself a new weapon, one unlike anything she had personally seen before, while still making use of techniques she was familiar with.

It is intentionally devoid of colorful cloth and beads, and shaped far differently than anything she would’ve learned to make back home. It’s heavier, and she uses the blade as a shield as much as a striking weapon.

She hobbled it together herself, purposeful and raw, functional above all else.

Her combat style is unrelenting, but light on her feet. Her halberd is constantly in motion, making a personal “bubble” around herself that makes it difficult to get close to her. She does not fight fair, and will resort to any tactic to fell an opponent. She has been known to throw her halberd at people, shove it violently at them, swing it similarly to a baseball bat, stab people, and so forth.

Every time she manages to break it, she repairs it, occasionally reinventing the look of the thing when she has to fully replace the shaft or the axehead, but she always keeps it fairly simple. The size of the axehead has grown as Shofie grew stronger over the years, making the thing weigh so much it is beyond practical for most others to wield, but for her, it is an extension of herself, as much a part of her as her own arm.

Despite her penchant for naming things (Shofie is responsible for naming most of Rhen’s devices and weapons), she has never deigned to give her halberd a formal name, perhaps due to the fact she never keeps any incarnation of it around for very long before destroying it.

History

AUTHOR NOTE: THIS INFORMATION WOULD NOT BE KNOWN TO YOU UNLESS SHOFIE ACTUALLY TOLD YOU. IT IS INCLUDED HERE FOR THE SAKE OF BEING THOROUGH.

Shofie's father was unable to become a Nunh, so he decided to take to a life of wandering, and happened to encounter an interested female Keeper. A brief affair ensued, the product of which was Shofie. Shofie's father left well before she was born however, and he is entirely unaware of her existence. Her mother had hoped she could hide the secret of her love affair with the Seeker from her racist, xenophobic clan, but was dismayed when Shofie ended up looking nearly identical to her father, and nothing like the rest of the clan. Shofie grew up lonely, enduring bullying from nearly everyone in her clan.

Despite all this, her mother tried to teach her the family's magicks, which Shofie picked up on easily, much as a prodigy would. She was a strong caster, and had much potential. When she was 17, was sent to Gridania to further her study, as well as to socialize and integrate with cityfolk.

Instead, Shofie decided to take the opportunity to distance herself from her clan as much as possible, and joined the Adventurer's Guild, fulfilling odd jobs for a few years, striving to find independence. During this time, she sustained a rather severe injury that had her laid up for nearly a month. The injury has since left her unable to conceive.

After her recovery, Shofie decided to join the Twin Adders. She thrived in the military's structured environment for a few years, even earning herself a decent rank, as well as a home of her own.

In 1572, her squadron is sent to the Carteneau Flats. Shofie balks due to her extreme increasing discomfort of the current events, and decides to desert, fleeing to Limsa Lominsa. The Calamity roared across the land, and stranded Shofie in Limsa with no coin or means home. Upon a chance encounter with a pirate named Rhen Maverick, she agrees to work for safe passage back to Gridania. Upon arriving finally, however, she learns she's been declared dead, and all her things have been sold and her home being auctioned off. Her superiors believed her to have perished in the Flats along with the rest of her squadron. Shofie learns she is her squadron's sole survivor, but only because she deserted.

Shofie is deemed a war hero, as her superiors believe she survived due to heroic acts, and not desertion. She is returned her modest home in the Lavender Beds, as well as given her own chocobo, a feisty white bird named Butz.

Shofie decides to quit the military, disillusioned and unhappy with the guilt of surviving as a result of cowardice, and contacts the pirate Rhen once again, looking for more permanent work with the Dusk Wolves.

The Dusk Wolves start fixing chocobo races, and Shofie's small stature and astonishing strength gives her an edge as a ringer in races as a jockey. She becomes a top tier chocobo jockey, earning The Dusk Wolves a lot of gil. Eventually, after Shofie wins many races, they decide to pull out of the operation, but Shofie had grown fond of her race bird, Buttons, deciding to keep him. Buttons now serves as her much more well-behaved steed than Butz ever did. As a result, Shofie gives Butz to Rhen, since Rhen seems to be able to deal with him better. Using their wealth and resources, the Dusk Wolves now operate mainly as moneylenders and couriers, willing to hold and ferry items for anyone with enough coin.

Shofie and Rhen grew close during the years, Shofie serving as Rhen's second-in-command, and the relationship that started as strictly a business association blossomed into love. They married, and Rhen, having no family or formal ties of his own, takes Shofie's last name.

Shofie makes the decision to stop running.

The Dusk Wolves

Shofie and her husband Rhen manage a small company of treasure hunters, called The Dusk Wolves, exploring Eorzea and finding rare valuables to sell to the highest bidders. These items are not always obtained in the most legal of ways, and as such, they have ties to the Black Market, and many of Eorzea's criminals. Despite her often less-than-serious personality, with Rhen's guidance, Shofie is a shrewd business woman. Where Rhen is the brains of The Dusk Wolves, thinking and analytical; Shofie is it's heart--passionate and raw.

On missions, Shofie serves as the brute force while the others are a bit more adept at finesse.

Rhen acquired a small tavern in The Goblet and spent time fixing it up. Naming it The Coeurl's Whisker, he uses it as a means of laundering money they obtain in less-than-legal ways. Most people, including much of The Whisker's staff, have no idea the small bar is used for this purpose. The average person would have no knowledge of this. The Coeurl's Whisker is, for all intents and purposes to the average outsider, just a normal tavern/inn.

Behind closed doors, Shofie and Rhen manage a lot of contacts, have black market dealings, and traffic goods to the highest bidders, all while making sure their own pockets are lined nicely in the process. Shofie has a room in The Whisker dedicated to keeping the weird sundries she finds on some of their forays. Rare books, unusual artifacts, magical tokens, things of that nature. She keeps this room strictly off limits to people in the Whisker. She stores goods here that she deems too dangerous to store in the house proper in the Lavender Beds.

Relationships

Shofie and Rhen

Rhen Maverick: (Rhen Mahowyn) It was through sheer random chance she was thrown together with Rhen Maverick, and the pair became close. The friendship blossomed into more, with the two eventually pledging themselves together, and Rhen taking Shofie's last name as an expression of his love for her. Shofie is utterly devoted to him, and loves him more than anything in life. She goes to great lengths to try to protect him (though he does not need it). Shofie is unflinchingly loyal to Rhen, and as a result, to The Dusk Wolves. If anything causes problems for either, Shofie will not hesitate to deal with it in a swift, sometimes brutal, fashion.

Due to Rhen's desire to never speak unless absolutely necessary, Shofie has become something of a translator for him, particularly when handling business involving The Dusk Wolves. She can read his intent and meaning so well, that when the pair are talking to people, she will often look to Rhen for his answer, before giving it for him, so he doesn't have to actually talk. Subtle nods, eye and ear movements convey more than enough information for Shofie to give accurate answers. She has gotten so good at this, people sometimes joke that the pair might be telepathic.

U'ratuo Feya: (U'ratuo Caedis) U'ratuo is someone Shofie considers a friend, and Shofie is actually a little protective of her. U'ratuo is The Coeurl Whisker's loyal (if not somewhat beleaguered) waitress, often having to serve Shofie's burnt offerings and placating customers. She is paid rather nicely, though. Occasionally tends the bar if Rhen is absent, as Shofie is prohibited by Rhen from handling anything glass.

A'rihnn Tia: Employed by The Coeurl's Whisker, offering sarcastic commentary on lots of goings-on in the tavern. No one seems to actually know what he was hired to do. Has recently taken over at The Whisker's cook, much to Shofie's relief, as he as far better at it than she ever was. Shofie is currently attempting to entice him into working for them in a more illegal capacity.

Butz: Shofie's snowy white chocobo, Butz, who is hostile and outright nasty to everyone. Shofie feeds him by throwing his food into the stall. She has a healthy fear of the bird. Rhen seems to manage him well enough, however, so Shofie gifted him to Rhen.

Buttons: Shofie's 'actual' chocobo, one she obtained during her stint as a chocobo jockey to fix races. Buttons and Shofie raced very well together, and Shofie was so fond of the bird, she decided to keep him, and he now serves as a much more manageable steed than Butz did for her.

Info about the roleplayer

Age: 39

GENDER: Sometimes

PLOT: I prefer to discuss plot beforehand, but for one-shot RPs this is less important.

ROLEPLAYING STYLE: Rapid-fire conversational style, or long paragraph style, depending on the roleplaying medium and who I am interacting with.

What I will RP: Violence, criminal activity, foul language, darker themes.

What I won't RP: Anything involving incest, underage sex, bestiality, pregnancy plots, etc. I do not ERP. If you have a character with these sorts of themes, please do not approach me for roleplay. If in doubt, send me a message first. Do not spring any of these sorts of things on me without warning in an RP scene, or I will blacklist you.

TRIGGERS: Rape, incest, home invasion. These will make me nope out.

IC =/= OOC: While I am ultimately always in control of my character and making the decisions, I am not my character. Anything my character may say or do is not necessarily a reflection of what I myself would say or do.

COMMUNICATION: I have mild dyslexia, and reading "thick accents" is difficult for me. Simply telling me beforehand your character has an accent works better for me than you phonetically typing it out all the time.

AVAILABILITY: I have a part-time job and do art on the side in addition to that. Sometimes, I am less available than others, and my responses might be slow.

METHOD: I am okay with in-game roleplay, or Discord.
