Appearance

Rahferu is an extremely effeminate, youthful visage with a visibly diminutive build and lissome carriage. He has a number of unnatural traits that offer strong and obvious dispute to him being an Au Ra--particular his ears. Unlike the Au Ra who have their horns as an equivalent of ears, Rahferu's two smaller and lighter-colored horns are located slightly higher upon his head than a normal Au Ra, and his hairstyle usually does a job of concealing a pair of webbed, elfin ears (In appearance, they're similar to bat wings or 'merfolk' ears, and they transition from his normal skin color to a pale gold color at the tips. Unlike the Elezen, his ears don't stick out at the same angle, they're closer to be being parallel to his head.)

An example that loosely portrays the shape of Rahferu's teeth--minus the gaps and jaw shown. His form one consistent row in the front, followed by a few rows in the back that are generally harder to see.

Others among the aforementioned traits are arguably more desirable than others--including a remarkably voluptuous lower half, and the metallic qualities of his complexion. His hips are wide and unusually curvy for a male; and undeniably fall under that 'thick thighs' category. His legs are long, slender and shapely with oddly small, delicate ankles (it can be noted as well that his wrists are also quite small.) Rah's eyes are rather large and have an exotic almond-shape, with irises of a corsucating red-violet color, birdlike pupils that rest under an array of dark feathery lashes and heavy lids that bear faint traces of gold. There are red lines under his eyes that appear to emulate exotic eyeliner, but a closer look and perhaps touch would reveal that there are sub-dermal impressions there. It can be noted that the gold symbol etched upon his forehead is similar with that sort of engraved appearance--an intricate dragonlike creature partially enveloped by coiling shapes--likely an emblematic dreadwyrm reference, that also seems to have a sub-dermal impression like an engraving upon metal. He does not wear eyeliner or makeup of any sort, but it certainly seems like he does as first glance. Those who have a roving, perhaps more perverse eye may note that his rounded, soft backside is likely something any high-paid burlesque dancer or voyeur would readily covet as their own. His hands are rather small and well-kept; featuring very long, elegant fingers that are tipped with curved golden talons which taper into dangerously sharp points. Rah's immaculate features look as if they could just easily belong to a woman--that is, until he grins. His smile is lent by a pair of full, somewhat doll-like lips that seem to perpetually glisten with a faint pearly tinge are the only barrier between a set of massive, serrated teeth that are far too large and ominous to suggest normality---and upon second glance, once may be able to faintly discern sharklike rows behind the first set. His tongue is also pierced rarely-witnessed spherical stud of clear red crystal.

A representation loosely portraying the appearance of Rahferu's unglamoured eyes.

Rahferu generally tries not to show teeth when smiling on account of this, as the dentalia serve as a sinister hint toward his origin. The scale plating that runs down his back hosts a line of jagged, vertebrae-like protrusions that become larger and more pronounced around the middle of his spine. The majority of Rahferu's scales seem to have a faint golden-grey shine, but there are a few patches that seem to have more of a slate grey color with darker linework about their ridges. His barbed, plated tail is also extraordinarily long. This, in addition to manner in which his scales are patterned and the direction the plating seems to face toward strongly nuance traits found in many voidsent creatures. There are faint indications of golden swirl patterns that are also sub-dermal impressions which mark his left shoulder and extend nearly to the elbow. In the past, Rah's hair was known to cascade nearly to the floor in length, and is a stunning platinum blonde or a shimmering off-white depending on how the light hits it. It looks to be shiny, soft, especially well-cared for. Recently, his tresses have taken a raven black color. His complexion is pure; unmarred and unblemished with a discernible metallic sheen. The color roughly equates to a blood red under the Ul'dahn sun, as professed by some. Rah is almost always seen walking around with a slightly sad, sort of downtrodden angelic expression. Most who have keen aetherical senses might note that his presence bears obvious amounts of void energy, which seems to have had a significant impact on his physical and overall development. He often speaks cryptically in a melodic voice with somewhat stiff, melancholy and mechanical responses that are usually laden with a great deal of noteworthy information.

  • His 'true' form is rather seldom-witnessed and rumored to be an unusual creature; something cross between a Voidsent Gargoyle and and an avian (birdlike) creature in appearance.

*NOTE: There are discrepancies between the character model's appearance and what he looks like in RP. The details are below. Rah's hair is extremely long--in fact, it nears the floor. His scales and plating are pretty inconsistent--different patches have different patterning and dissimilarities that are fairly obvious, such as deviations in their color, shape and direction in which they lay all around his body. Despite the frequent misconnection people make between Rah's appearance and a dragon's, the aspects of his appearance are really supposed to obviously nuance a voidsent's far moreso than a dragon's. No two patches of scales or plating appear to be exactly the same, offering a bit of a patchwork effect. His tail is also supposed to be much longer than shown on the character model, and it falls a bit past the floor and otherwise drags across the ground unless it is lifted and moved. His tongue is pierced with a clear, spherical stud of red crystal. He's also a bit less muscular and more toward the slender side of the spectrum, especially around his arms. Similarly, it can be noted that his wrists and ankles are somewhat small in circumference as well. The lower half of Rah's overall body shape is also a great deal more full-figured and long-legged. When he is equipped in his Allagan (or dreadwyrm) gear, there is a braided, golden metallic equivalent of an ancient Egyptian chin-wig(beard) that becomes more pronounced in appearance on his face.

History

NOTE: If you want to be involved or feel your character might be a good fit to wiggle into Rahferu's backstory somewhere, please let me know and we can work something out!

Azys Lla is home to a number of creatures who were created very similarly how Rah himself was.

Rahferu hails from a complex background, of which he knows only the most minor and ambiguous of detail. His origins date back to a time before the ultimate fall of the Allagan empire in the Third Astral Era when the field of experimentation with voidsent and void matter experienced its heights. A unique, top-secret endeavor involving the experimentation and culturing of a being that could display humanoid intelligence while combating foes of great merit. The project was funded by an enterprising young man by the name of Cersei Achilles, who was a member of high nobility (and actually, it is strongly suggested his house was of royal blood and merely settled for a smaller set of titles and responsibilities.) By the time Project Osiris was under way, many of Allag's top chimerics workers had yet to learn of it ever happening. The creature was fated to be a bioweapon whose chief purpose was to pacify and weaken greater creatures in order for the Allagans to harvest their power. The goals were for it to be assigned it a cast capability of reasoning abilities if at all possible; in addition to appearing to have a more compact form as a trait which was merely a convenient ruse to lure its opponents into thinking it was smaller and therefore weaker. A group of experienced Allagan summoners, scientists and researchers with additional assistance from the nodes and golems-not to mention Cersei and his entire coffer--were set to work on this project immediately. They started by summoning and essentially capturing two relatively high-ranking void entities by subjugating them, and tethering them to the laboratory's holding units, near which the project would take place. The she-demon and her partner were kept in confinement for the duration of the process. Every day or so, the researchers sent golems and automatons in to those areas to pacify the two demons, particularly the female. Each time this happened, she was forced to 'donate' portions of her body and her power, ere they be harvested by force. Never far from grace, she was then left to regenerate whatever parts of her they had so cruelly chosen to pluck from her. The gathered components would then be taken back to the tank where the creation existed in suspended animation, and were likely contributed to efforts toward the growing aberration's development. What can be accessed of encrypted files rumor that essence of a pseudo-eikonic creature from another star was added during the creature's culturing, but the validity of such suspicions remains yet to be confirmed--and the answers rest with Cersei. After the creature's completion and awakening, the researchers involved with Project Osiris well anticipated the high possibility of its lack of compliance. By taking parts from the voidsent 'mother', the Allagans had hoped to potentially form a backup system or control device in order to keep the creation in check. Since there was a great deal of her own existence in him, it was suggested that the two shared a link. The link could be used to communicate basic emotions, convey ideas in a sort of telepathic manner. The greater of the two (the "mother"), would be used to control or even stifle the creation, should the circumstances ever cause it to enter a berserk state. The creature's form changed many times before it began to adopt a humanoid form, and some of its morphing was thought to have been caused by forces ranging from mere emotion to tangible or aetherical materials that the researchers would physically add (usually via the use of many tubes, which were hooked up to the being floating in the tank.) All involved would remain puzzled, however, for the creature showed no imminent signs of life--but there was nothing to indicate that it dead, either. It simply seemed to be stuck in its stasis; which to Cersei, meant it had yet to be completed. What were they missing? What had they done wrong, or right? The project was so close to completion, yet there seemed to be one thing missing, keeping the weapon from awakening... Unfortunately, the question remain unanswered, even as Allag began to crumble and taper into but a plethora of relics and a haunting memory that echoed for centuries to come across the face of Hydaelyn. The dwindling few involved with Project Osiris who remain knew things were going south--and quickly at that. They knew full well by this point that given the situation, Emperor Xande and his legions certainly wasn't about to burst in and demand they turn over the unfinished creature in their folly. In a moment that served to be a mixture of cunning and perhaps fear, they had prepared vessels in which to slumber in a preserved state. They hoped that one day, they too would be stirred from their stasis and finish the work that lie still ahead. Meanwhile, a small host of watchful golems and vigilant nodes guarded the containment unit in their masters' absence. They would wait, and perform basic maintenance every day so that the creature in the tank had just enough nutrients and energy rationed out to supplement its survival over the long centuries to come. Among these watchful guardians was Neve Firn, a tall humanoid golem with a lovely female likeness. For thousand of years, she watched the Osiris creature float languidly in his tank, silently crying out for his creators to awaken, so that he might be awakened in turn... The somber silence was at last interrupted, at a time just before the event known as the present day Calamity. The demoness's binding to the area had loosened a little, and she was allowed to roam the area somewhat, and reflect on all that had happened to her. Initially, she had hated the creature, and the Allagans for shaving little bits off of her existence to create it to suit their Project Osiris. With five thousand years of reflection in quiet yet inescapable prison of solitude, the vengeful edges of her mind and heart frayed as she felt the first few pangs of maternal warmth. The creature's heart was beating--loudly. It was alive, and it was not. It cried out silently for help, for freedom; for whatever it could get, as long as it was outside that dusty chamber and tank--the demoness waited until she could wait no longer. She would sneakily enter the area in which the small number of remaining Allagan researchers slumbered in their separate units, and roused them from their own inactivity. They would wake, with little time to lament or think about what happened. They were determined to finish this task, even if it was five thousand years too late. Then was as now in the chamber in their eyes--the only true difference was provided by the considerable layer of dust and silence that had enveloped the area long ago. Things had changed, and the remaining few allowed the demoness to move more freely in exchange for her fetching components from other beings in order to find the key thing that had been missing for so long. A brief encounter with a dragon kin would ensue shortly thereafter--and she would claim the man's eyes, and his affection for a short time. Through seduction and deceit, she robbed the dragon kin Akasha of his eyes--for all who know of dragons and their ilk know that the bulk of their power is conveyed by their great eyes, and she planted within him the false belief that she was carrying his child. In reality, she carted the dragon kin's eyes back to the run in which the once-slumbering inhabitants buzzed as busily as a small hive of bees at work. With these additional infusions complete, the creature still seemed unresponsive.... It had taken many long years for creature to show signs of functionality and life, given that he had existed in a very crude, unformatted state. Centuries later, the she-demon would again call upon the preserved, slumbering summoners and researchers and stir them from their slumbering state as well. Upon re-awakening, the few remaining Allagans and the demon would at last gather the final components to bring this creature reasoning abilities and his own intelligence. With the last few 'ingredients' compatibly applied, the small creature within the suspended tank began to show life at long last. A day or two had passed, until the crestfallen few heard the tapping of tiny, clawed fingers against the surface of the tank. At long last, the creature had indeed awakened! He was moving, breathing, and making facial expression and sounds! All who bore witness were overjoyed. Things had changed, after all. Allag was no more, and the small being did not have to suffer the fate of being weaponized. The completed creature was given a more sensible, non-numerical catalyst phrase by its creators--'RAHFEL'. Rather than being immediately subjected to brutal training and combat as a weaponized creature would have known, Rah was greeted with the regard of a few lonely parents and grandparents suddenly happening upon a small, adorable child that would be dubbed their own.

"He is going to be perfect, you know..."

However, the demoness ended up adopting a fiercely maternal approach to the child. Even the five thousand years or so that had passed did not mend the boiling vat of hatred she felt toward Allag as a whole--especially those who had treated her so cruelly. Despite the fact that she had initially hated the creature too, the change of heart had brought in a wave of wickedly fierce affection. She did not trust the others, and there was so much of her in that creature, after all. Wakening suspicion filled her mind, reminding her of their treachery of old. She managed to break the ancient tether completely, freeing herself of ever having to return to that miserable ruin. Upon busting into the laboratory area, she snatched the child up, declaring that a bunch of golems and once-crazed researchers were unfit to even be around Rahfel. Scooping him and essentially chucking anybody who got in her way into a nearby wall, she fled with the tiny being in tow and would take up residence in places far from where common men fear to delve--or so the demoness had thought. They would be soon separated by a band of bawdy but well-trained adventurers bent on hunting voidsent. After being badly beaten, she gathered her bearings once more after glamouring herself as something very akin to a Xaela in appearance. The decidedly matriarchal voidsent set out to search for the small, newly-awakened creature that she claimed as her son. Rah himself has only recently chosen to come out and integrate with society--a choice that he both regrets and takes pride in on a daily basis. He did not adopt a direct approach toward society--seeing as he had been stored in a tank for most of his life, or was hidden out in the wilderness for a very long time after the fear and confusion upon being rather violently separated from the being that mothered him. Over time, it eventually became obvious that he couldn't keep avoiding these other people, even if their strange languages and blunt, alien behavior perturbed and frightened him Rah has more recently been seen taking up residence in Ishgard, though his advents to Ul'dah are not uncommon. He finds increased comfort in the frozen, war-torn city both because of his newfound fascination with snow, and because Ishgard seems to lack a substantial amount of Raen, who seem abhor the thought of an Allagan monstrosity that is frequently mislabeled as one of their own. Subsequently, he is more often than not scorned, mistreated or shunned by most, and happily excluded from social circles. By nature, Rahferu is a bit of a chimera in his own respect, in a bit of a contrast to the Allagan naga because his existence bears obvious traces of other elements. Rah's feelings and future have never truly known true stability; for the Au Ra do not want him, nor do the dragons, or the voidsent--to say the least of the other part of him that is stirring. With a worried demoness looking over his shoulder in secret every now and then, an overprotective and blind de facto dragonkin guardian and an accompaniment and observation node with tracking capabilities, Rah knows he still has a long way to go...

Personality

I am here. Always. Waiting...

Despite the fact that he was created to be everything but, Rahferu is a sweet yet complex and vulnerable person who is prone to being painfully shy and sensitive. There is little to nothing in his orthodox behavior that can be called cruel, self-righteous or even remotely uppity. It can also be noted that he appears to have minimal (but slowly waxing) concept of sexuality and public displays of affection currently, and more often than not misses the punchlines in dirty humor. Rah relates to non-transcendent creatures' mating processes about as much as a science textbook--and this his made apparent through his dialogue and demeanor when faced with potentially sexual situations. This is often viewed as childish or naive by those interact with him seldom, or on a purely superficial basis. He tends to become frustrated things that he can't wrap his head around. When people he cares about getting hurt is ever a possibility, you may be sure to expect a bad reaction from him. His own bad things do not appear to stick to him nearly as much as anyone else's--making him out to be one of those people who 'cares too much'. He generally observes sad or passive aggressive behavior rather than reverting to a violent and volatile state when upset or angered, in strong contrast to the nature of his original purpose and creation. On the other side of the coin, Rahferu's strange beauty is matched only with a fatal temper when he is at last pushed too far. The few incidents that have occurred when Rah's cruel temper and loss of tolerance at last were forced to rear their violent heads would probably make his voidsent propers proud. Thankfully, it is very hard to make him extremely angry--but undeniably something that will birth a violent and regretful circumstance for most (if not all) parties involved. Tolerant and uncannily observant, Rah is able to mimic many things he sees other people do--usually in order for him to cautiously forge and don a 'mask' when interacting with people he does not know how to approach. His initially passive and shy nature might seem endearing or 'cute', but that lack of social understanding is but another perk of the status quo belonging to a genetically-engineered abomination--to say the least, it has likely cost him many open friendship opportunities in the social setting. It is strongly suggested that Rahferu has a split personality, presumably resulting from years of ignoring his inherent drive to cause harm, as well as mounted and long-disregarded bloodthirst. When feeling threatened or insulted to too great a degree, Rahferu will almost immediately begin to exhibit traits of the personality that would wholly earn his creators' approval--more of then than not, resulting in condescending, cold behavior paired with what sounds like mechanically-prompted dialogue. Needless to say, if his buttons are pressed and one begins to hear the words 'inferior' or 'savage' repeatedly as commonly-used phrases in his dialogue, it is likely best to vacate the surrounding area--quickly.

It's been a while, since I've had my switch flipped...

  • Rian Pendergast: ❀ Rahferu met Rian as an enthusatic audience member who expressed strong appreciation for his dancing skills during one of his performances at the Gilded Pony, and the two have been friends ever since.
  • Neve Firn: ♡ Neve is the watchful Allagan golem who exhibits the shape of a tall humanoid female. Dhe is responsible for teaching Rahferu how to speak, behave and articulate thought processes. She kept a quiet and vigilant watch over him for many centuries as he lay stagnant and unfinished in suspended animation.
  • Iyo'a Nelhah: ❦ The two originally met when Rahferu opted to perform at the Tradecraft Festival. Iyo'a happened upon Rahferu again in an unlikely second encounter around Azys Lla. He had been effectively ditched by his expedition group during their quest for adamantine, and he caught and engaged Rahferu in conversation near Helix.
  • K'oga Tia: ❦ Rahferu greeted and immediately tried to comfort an unhappy K'oga in the Quicksand one evening. While K'oga initially seemed suspicious of Rah's intent, the two ended up having a heart-to-heart discussion about life and its struggles in a quiet evening at the Gold Court in Ul'dah afterward.
  • Kazuki Kanagawa: ❀ The Raen mercenary was attracted to Rahferu after witnessing one of his burlesque performances, at the Gilded Pony decided to pursue friendship and conversation. Rah currently boards with him from time to time in his vast manor, and they currently have a blossoming friendship. Due to Rahferu's vast and inherent naivety, he has yet to grasp any romantic implications.
  • Vincent Delacroix: ❀ Rahferu met Vincent briefly at the Quicksand in the company of Mholi'a Jawantal. Later, he happened upon his friend Valliment Liautroix near the Culinarian's Guild in Limsa alongside Vincent, and the two appeared to engage in what ended up being an extremely whirlwind courtship and date. After Valliment proceeded to irritate and disgust Vincent, Rah comforted him and coaxed into giving Valliment a second chance, despite the heated words that had been exchanged between the two of them.
  • Mholi'a Jawantal: ❦ Like many others, Rah met Mho in the Quicksand rather shortly after he began making social appearances. Mho noticed Rahferu's knack for drawing and lack of flirtatious initiative, inviting him to his house for a commissioned sketch, where they had a pleasant conversation.
  • Trembling Release: ❀ Rahferu met Trembling (who was accompanied by Edwin Avery) in Ul'dah, and the two became friends as they discussed their pasts and went out to get some fresh air in the midday Thanalan sun.
  • Orha Duren: ❀ Rah met the witty and otherwise dashing Raen pirate in the Quicksand, and felt awkward and at a loss for trying to grasp Orha's way of thinking in order to better communicate with him. Orha voiced playful doubts about Rahferu's physical strength...a remark which Rah will be only too happy to disprove the next time they meet.
  • A'xun Enocan:❀ A'xun and his significant other approached Rah in the Quicksand, and more or less lifted Rah's feeling of being useless by employing his support for their business.
  • Soho Tia:? Soho and A'xun happened upon a crestfallen Rah in the Quicksand one evening and more or less recruited his support for their business. Needless to say, Rahferu will at least be managing to dance for any upcoming establishments or events they may have.
  • Alupia Enocan: A pregnant Alupia was escorted around the icy slopes of Coerthas by Rah--courtesy of A'xun volunteering Rah for that mission, initially without Rah's knowledge.
  • Valliment Liautroix: ❀ Valliment and Rah met in the midst of a semi-domestic disagreement that broke out on the streets in front of the Quicksand. Though he was mostly removed from the situation and had no idea what was going on, Rahferu lingered near the scene and made it subtly clear that he was not going to let Valliment or Soren (the man who accompanied Valliment at the time) meet any sort of harm.
  • L'khora Dawnseeker: ❦ Rah was approached by L'khora, who displayed academic curiosity about the Allagan nod that followed Rah around, as well as Rah's origins. They had a quiet, very academically-oriented conversation in the Gold Court.
  • Shiemi Kihara: ♡ Friends Rah get this wily, good-humored if not slightly shady Doman girl on Pearl Lane. Curious about her albinism and the strange plants and substances she was peddling, the two had a long discussion about various Eorzean drugs and recreational substances. The two are friends, and sometimes can be seen attending public events together or barhopping as a pair of siblings might.
  • Akasha Daitou: ♡ The dragon-kin whose eyes were stolen by a demoness to ensure Rah's completion and survival has taken an extremely paternal approach to Rahferu's well-being, and has been officially dubbed and accepted as Rah's father, and will allow no dispute on the matter.
  • Aedh Duskhawk: ❦ Aedh approached Rah while he was curled up in a corner and sketching the inhabitants of Pearl Lane. Noting his strong preference to converse in the Doman tongue, Rahferu carried out a short but pleasant conversation with him, and was pointed in the direction of the Gilded Pony, where he now performs.
  • Savant Ameyalli: ❀ S'avant managed to catch an awkward Rah after one of his performances. Rah would later visit Savant at his residence, where they spoke of self-positivity and plotted to hold a potluck with unique foods and invite all their friends.
  • Tsuki Crimson: ❀ Rahferu met Tsuki through Savant, and admires the Miqo'te for his kindness and incredible culinary skills.
  • S'vashi Kayo: ❀ The vibrant and unassuming Miqo'te dancer remains an unsolvable mystery to Rah, who strongly feels as though his presence upsets her and ends up being crestfallen every time he tries to befriend her or get to know her more closely. Maybe he's cursed, but Rah will inevitably keep trying...
  • A'mun Guhn: ❦ Rah met A'mun through Neve briefly, and A'mun managed to teach him much about the mechanics behind romantic interaction--more than anyone else has before, which came up in a discussion shortly after a drunken passerby mistook Rahferu for a woman.
  • Viola Seville: ❀ The fiery-haired Miqo'te bard is responsible for managing the Gilded Pony's performances and performers--Rah among them. He is still uncertain of what to make of her, but knows that Viola is both a very good dance instructor and a friendly, enthusiastic face. In her honor, Rahferu cultivates viola flowers of various colour right out of his apartment.
  • L'yon Tia: ❀ The prompt, timely, witty and friendly Miqo'te works at the Gilded Pony, and he is responsible for Rah's recruitment and intake into the Pony as a performer. To this day, L'yon is likely yet unaware that he has either made a grievous error or the best decision ever in doing so...
  • Oghulqaimish Hotgo: ❦ Rah gathered his courage one day to approach the amazing man who always wore such lovely and varying shades of pink and violet--and he was not disappointed. Both an expert at flattery and genuinely a kind person who has no qualms with dishing out compliments, Qaimish found himself showered by Rah's admiration...and bathe in it, he did.
  • Khortani Himaa: ❦ The opportunistic Xaela herbalist and Rah met in the Quicksand. While complimenting Rah on his skill, she was loathe to understand the gilded chimera's lack of desire for gil and non-materialistic views. Though it seemed that she made an effort to ignore him and perhaps even shut him out, Rah can be quite a persistent devil when he wants to be.
  • L'nela Varya: ❀ Nela and Rahferu met through their mutual employment at the Gilded Pony. Due to her evident admiration for his performances Rah expressing concern for her nervous chewing habits, the two have slowly begun to be friends. He still sure what to make of her entirely, as she arbitrarily bit and hugged him in their first encounter.
  • Apollox Daviron: ☢ The Allagan summoner and chimerics worker encountered a pensive Rah in Azys Lla. Needless to say, he recognized Rah immediately for what he was. Rahferu now finds that admiration for the chimerics worker developing underneath his general fear and inherent reverence of one of his would-be masters, fondly referring to him in private as "Mister Apollox."
  • Zeraia Reynard: ❀ Ever the quiet voice of encouragement for Rah in the background during his time at the Pony, fellow performer Zeraia has fully won Rah's admiration and fully piqued his curiosity by her recent actions.
  • P'ianthe Aliapoh: ☢ Rah met Ianthe through Apollox. Much to his dismay, the royal clone appears to inherently hate and fear Rah for what he is. Nevertheless, these serious setbacks and his own fear don't seem to deter him from trying to prove his worth and win her over anyway.
  • Rhoe'ja Nenlahca: ❀ As a companion of Ravenous Wolf, Rah met Rhoe'ja without knowing much about him, other than his lack of legs and a vague story from Wolf about how that came to be. Rah has managed to procure high-grade Allagan prosthetic for Rhoe'ja as a gesture of sympathy, compassion and hope.
  • Ravenous Wolf: ❀ The ex-gladiator spotted a lurking Rah at the Drowning Wench, flagging him down to come join him as he dined. Rah learned about the fate of his friend Rhoe'ja, for whom he felt passionate sympathy.
  • Alexei Zolotse: ❀ Alexei was the first quiet voice that always offered applause and quiet encouragement for Rah. Initially unsure of his feelings and not wanting to be a nuisance to Alexei, Rahferu eventually come to terms that he has a crush on the latter, and still fervently believes he is never going to be good enough.
  • Waltz Concerto: ❦ The colorful pop-idol Miqo'te has recently earned Rah's fervent admiration in full force and not just as a performer, but as someone who is always beautifully or uniquely dressed. Rah has yet to really converse with Mr. Concerto, and more than several nervous reservations about doing so.
  • Xerxes Achilles: ☢ Cersei is high Allagan nobility, and largely the one reponseible for Rahferu's creation via Project Osiris.. Needless to say, Cersei had actually developed a paternal complex toward Rah prior to him being snatched up by his "mother" and carted off.
  • Ixtoli: ♡ The voidsent has a fiercely maternal attitude when it comes to Rah and as far as she is concerned, he is her child by all rights and is more than happy to brutally murder anyone who dares to argue with her. Though this make peaceful family reunions (as well as introducing potential friends and even lovers) nearly impossible, Rah has an undeniably strong connection to the demoness he calls 'Mother'. The two even share a telepathic link through which they communicate by conveying feelings, thoughts, desires and general emotions.
  • Anna Ryder: ❀ Anna and Rah met in Apollox's small hideout, and Rah genuinely appreciates her for her bubbly demeanor, friendliness and frequently wonders what stage, flamboyant outfit he'll see her in next.
  • Muu Kagon: ❀ Following a trail of beautifully engraved materials, Rahferu at last found this reclusive Xaelan artist heavily cowled and glaring at him viciously from behind a rock. While Muu fervently despises the sun and most who walk in it, he compromised upon feeling endeared to Rah's childish machinations.
  • Rah'ula Teka: ❀ Rah met Tek through Neve, and doesn't yet know him as well as he'd like to. Teka visits sometimes and tantalizes Rahferu with stories of life in Allag, as well as promises of cake.
  • I'rinha Tia: ❀ The curious Miqo'te encountered Rahferu at the Quicksand, who was instantly fascinated by and seemed intent on touching his horns, comparing them to a buffalo's. Rah has a little trouble understanding how the other doesn't know who and what he is, but he isn't really that troubled by it.
  • Lynx Fristelse: ❀ Rahferu has ever wondered about the mysterious masked man who dances for the Gilded Pony. Who is he? Where did he come from? Does he have any hobbies? Rah's growing confusion has yet to be sated, though he has begun to feel that Lynx is wholly approachable...
  • Nameless Seeker:❦ The curious Miqo'te and his chatty bluebird companion encountered Rahferu in Mor Dhona near the Crystal Tower. The meeting was a small exchange of informative and friendly remarks that seem to indicate two will become closer friends in time.

Characteristics

  • Nicknames/Aliases: Rah, Rah-Rah, bird, OSIRIS, The Osiris creature, The Osiris product, TDamn I didn't know the Allagans could make stuff like that. (He responded to the word Rahfel at creation--and the one accredited as his father has more recently adopted a slightly more Raen-sounding take on the name in order to blend in.)
  • Age: Appears to be anywhere from 16-18. (Has physically existed in a tank for an estimated 5,000 years or so.)
    • Nameday: 13th Sun of the Third Astral Moon ((OOC))
  • Gender: Hermaphrodite (Fairly androgynous; identifies and leans toward male bit more in visible anatomical structure.)
    • Sexuality: Naive at present
    • Marital Status: Pending courtship of sorts with Alexei Zolotse.
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral (Lawful evil when angered; borderline chaotic evil.)
  • Height: Shy of six feet tall
  • Weight: Estimated between 120-140 lbs
  • Body: Lissome and soft. A slender torso riddled with hints of lithe, toned muscle tapers into a pair of wide, voluptuous hips and eventually long, shapely legs
  • Hair: (IC'ly) Falls almost to the floor in length. Always coiffured and laden with many jewels or ornaments. Currently a dyed raven black. Naturally, his locks are a stunning platinum blonde or a shimmering off white color depending on the light.
  • Eyes: Large, childlike and almond-shaped. Violet in color, tinged with unnatural hints of red. When threatened or in combat they seem to lack the separation of pupil, iris and sclera and swap to a beady black like an arachnid's, featuring hints of umbral blue toward the bottom.
  • Skin: A dark rosekissed chocolate color--can appear more of a blood red color depending on the light. Very soft; pure and unblemished. Red lines appear all over his skin when he draws on greater, more demanding abilities. ((Similar to a combination of the will-user lines from Fable 2 and the linear patterns on Allagan magitek.))
  • Scales: His scales an off-white or grey for the most part, with hints of pale gold. Their linear position and color does not remain consistent around his entire body, offering a bit of a patchwork or chimerical effect. There are a few patches of plating that are riddled with odd, darker-colored vein designs that seem to lay in differing directions as a gargoyle's or a dragon's might
  • Attire of choice: Generally lamé, black, white or vibrant-colored silks as well as colorful jewelry with intricate and unique, custom engravings. Occasionally, he can be spotted wearing pastel colors. In combat, he wears sophisticated and beautifully-colored sets of Allagan dreadwyrm-style armor.

Abilities and Weaknesses

Abilities

Coils/Tendrils: Rahferu can spawn a number of bladed, whiplike tendrils that can extend to great lengths from his hair. These appendages were initially meant to grapple, feel, grab or stab objects from a distance, and are capable of lashing out at high speeds to ensnare or impale opponents.

Aetherical Suppression: On occasion, Rahferu can for a short time suppress his presence with an immense amount of focus. This ability was meant to trick enemy targets into thinking that he was either not present or nowhere nearby.

Extendable Appendages: He can extend a few of his body parts--particularly his fingers, tongue, arms for combat purposes. There appears to be no exact limit yet gauged to which his limbs can extend. He can extend his fingers at high speed to strike at a range. His arms can also extend, unravel and split into tentacles/ribbonlike appendages that crush and tear his opponents.

Extensive Aetherpool: Rah's aetherical presence was described by Xerxes as feeling like glancing into an abyss, and is the prime source of his more instantaneous regeneration abilities. In contrast to many beings, this even allows him to survive having his limbs hacked off abruptly, provided he has time to grow them back properly.

Neuroresistance: Rah's mind is augmented with Allagan magitek, and can sometimes resist possession or coercion by voidsent as well as damage from some parasitic organisms while sustaining no damage or physical deformation and major changes in personality.

Steeled Dentalia: His teeth are large and serrated, meant for both biting and tearing into enemies when and as needed.

Chimerical Transfiguration: Rahferu's hands are one of his trademark melee weapons. Usually, they mimic the shape of humanoid hands with fingers that are slightly too long and tipped with metallic clawlike nails. His hands usually exhibit two stages during combat, notated as 'Level one' and 'level two'. Under level one circumstances, his hands retain the size of their humanoid form, but the fingers become longer and fully take on the appearance of metallic claws. The backs of the hands develop exterior, scaly plating that is roughly the color of his skin but discernible by having a more rigid texture. When exhibiting a level two, Rah's hands fully adopt the appearance of massive, skeletal claws with a metallic likeness and appear to be grossly disproportionate to the rest of his body as a whole.

Absolute Transfiguration: It has long been suggest that Rahferu has no other form than his humanoid visage, but that simply couldn't further from the truth. Though he is unable to do this outside special circumstances, Rahferu can in fact transform into something that reportedly looks cross between a Gargoyle and an avian creature.

Swift Regeneration: This trait was one that he was specifically altered to posses, and it allows him near-instantaneous regeneration most wounds that are not immediately fatal or serious.

Honed senses: His five (if not six?) senses are heightened to the point where he was supposed to be able to fight instinctively. His hearing is highly sensitive and primarily afforded by a pair of frilled ears that sit just under his white horns. His white horns are also sensitive to soundwaves and changes in pressure, allowing him to sometimes gauge how near or far away something is. Strength: As a result of berserk nature, Rahferu can sometimes rely upon his physical strength alone and fight opponents without the aid of any of his other abilities. This aids in situations in which Rahferu were to face opponents many time his size.

Aetherical Hunger: Rather than deriving nutrients from physical sustenance, Rahferu is far better nourished by the consumption of energy. Effectively, he can 'eat' certain kinds of magics, without necessarily harming the caster. He could also find nourishment consuming the energy from crystals, as many non-synthetic voidsent do.

Weaknesses & Drawbacks

Serious mental instability: Rahferu's childish mindset suggests strong attachments to beings he identifies as 'parents'. This complex can lead to confusion and lapses in personality, and in worst case scenario it could cause him to enter a berserk state in which he would not stop cutting things down until being either pacified forcibly or killed. Tampering with his fragile psyche can even cause wounds that he has previously regenerated to open instantaneously.

Severe lack of control: Since a certain incident, Rahferu cannot control his body very well and can be nearly driven to insanity due the injuries inflicted on him at the time. Exhaustible/mediocre vitality: Like all things, Rah couldn't go on forever in a berserk state and his energy is most certainly not at limitless as it may initially seem. While he hits VERY hard and can move very quickly, he has a difficult time holding out in elongated combat affairs.

The Stigmata: As a result of being a creature composed of the broken, melded existence of many others, Rahferu has two major defects--the stigmata on his knees. They appear to be something like gashes cut into the shape of two evil, ritualistic seals on either kneecap. The wounds never appeal to stay sealed for very long, and sometimes bleed out. The stigmata appear to be painful and sensitive, and interacting with them could cause him to react very negatively.

Incompatible/overpotent genes: Despite his dual gender, Rahferu is fact capable of bearing or creating offspring. Were he to mate with a normal person of today, the likelihood of his offspring surviving or achieving longevity and developing properly are vastly unlikely. The body of your average Eorzean would more than likely not supplement enough nutrients and resources for the developing children, and it has been suggested that bearing Rah's children would end violently for the other party.

Neuropacification/Termination: Rah's mind is linked to various databases (or whatever still remains of them) via the help of his Neurolink, which serves as both his salvation and potential destruction as well. If Rah's energy emissions exceed a certain capacity, the technology immediately begins to tap into his own life energy and convert it to short but considerable bursts of power, which would ultimately land Rahferu in a weakened and pacified state (or dead, worst case scenario.) This also prohibits him from ever harming or attacking--or so much as thinking of harming an Allagan or any of direct descent. Subsequently, he can sometimes sense those of Royal blood when they are nearby.

Hypersensitivity: With great power comes great responsibility--and supernaturally good hearing, comes the sad reality of almost everything being way too loud. Rah's webbed are so sensitive that they can sometimes hear tiny flecks of dust hit certain objects--so as one may imagine, screaming or particularly loud noises startle Rahferu and more often than not develop into a string of semi-perpetual migraines. Particularly bright flashes of light (unnatural or magical, not generated by the sun) can provoke angry reaction from Rah, whose rightfully-black eyes tend to absorb the light. Theoretically, the bright red or orange rings that simultaneously serve as the equivalent to both his pupils and irises are supposed to reflect that light and allow him clarity of vision, but this is not always the case.

Quirks

  • Rah tends to sketch or doodle when left idle in public
  • As an Allagan creation, Rahferu is physically superior in strength and sensory to most mortals
  • Rahferu is perfectly ambidexterous and can be seen swapping hands as he draws or writes
  • He enjoys dancing, singing and telling stories
  • Like almost any entertainer, Rah is a huge people pleaser....or at least, he tries very hard to be
  • Rah is very childish and fidgety; easily distracted by physical items around him, especially dominoes, plushies, cards or toys
  • He's a bit of a glutton, loves junk food and often overeats
  • Rah is vastly sexually naive and romantically oblivious despite the fact that he is a burlesque performer
  • Tends to be overconcious of what other people who are close to him are feeling
  • He's extremely sensitive and highly prone to misinterpreting what people say
  • Hums pleasant-sounding tunes when he's highly impatient, anxious or anticipating something
  • Rah has an extra pair of horns that he snapped off because he felt they are large and cumbersome, like a succubus's or a gargoyle's. Nevertheless, they seem to be in the process of regrowing every time he cuts them off
  • Rahferu's hair grows unnaturally fast
  • He has a very short attention span
  • A good bit of Rah's scales physically appear more like a gargoyle's than an Au Ra's.
  • Rah's tail is extremely long, and nearly hits the floor. It droops when he is upset, and curls into a question mark shape when he is curious or intrigued.
  • ((Most minions I have summoned are IC with Rah. The node minion and any other animal minions around him are usually IC!))
  • A small accompaniment and observation node named Bitter follows Rah around frequently. It usually informs others if Rah is safe to approach and interact with.
  • Rahferu HATES shoes (except the pointy kind, for reasons unknown) and would walk around barefoot for the rest of his life if he knew he could get away with it
  • Rah seldom cuts his hair--but when he does, the trimwork absolutely beautiful.
  • (IC'ly) The gold symbol etched upon his forehead is an intricate dragonlike creature partially enveloped by coiling shapes--likely an emblematic dreadwyrm reference.
  • Nearly anything pertinent to the ancient Allagan, Ala Mhigan, or Ishgardian society fascinates him
  • (IC'ly) Rah is a bit short. ((The shortest the Raen character model gets is 79.9 inches/a bit OVER 6 feet tall. In RP, I'd say that Rah would be at least a good inch or so shorter than that!))
  • Sometimes, he wears large, black gauntlets that appear to be advanced magitek. These gauntlets respond to his will--more specifically the amount and intesity of aetherical disturbance caused when he draws on his darker abilities. The gauntlets also prohibit the transfiguration of his hands for combat and seem to serve as a method of pacification, seeing as they prevent use of one of his most lethal abilities
  • Rah is many, many times physically stronger than he looks

"Awww, yeah! I remember him. He's adorable and he uh, kinda reminds me of a bird. I'll take sixty of him, please!" - Dorbei Kha

"Rahferu is so sweet--I should say that one risks a toothache when speaking to him. May I say that I am honestly surprised to see that some unsavory ghoul hasn't snatched him up already? I mean I would, mind you, if it weren't the fact that he walks in the sun and therefore bathes in mortal SIN!!!" - Muu Kagon

Known Haunts

And sometimes, he's nowhere to be found amongst civilized company...

You might have run into or otherwise know Rahferu from:

  • The floor of the Quicksand
  • Azys Lla, where he can be found dissuading adventurers from messing with his masters' belongings
  • A few venues in the Goblet or the Mist, where is bit of a rare spawn these days
  • The Gilded Pony, where he is a performer and otherwise part-time employee
  • Mor Dhona, meditating near the Eight Sentinels.

Trivia

  • Rahferu's favorite colors are gold, white, royal blue, violet, sky blue, silver and red
  • His name in pronounced rah-FERRU. Birthname RAH-fel (with less emphasis on the 'fel' part)
  • Rah does drink, but seldom. He strongly prefers alcoholic beverages that are laden with fruity or sweet flavors to compensate for the bitterness of hard liquor. Due to his stout gut, the genetically engineered demon displays a high level of alcohol tolerance and does not as easily suffer the effects of alcohol as normal organisms would upon consuming quantities that would be considered excess.
  • Rahferu generally uses his hands and talons in combat, or a two-handed sword. He has the ability to transform or 'awaken' the form of his hands into large, lethal demonic claws for the sake of combat
  • He is easily startled and somewhat excitable, especially when items are being thrown in the air nearby
  • Rah is a folkdancer, tribal dancer and exotic blade dancer by trade, having recently begun to dabble in burlesque
  • Rah's father appears to have been a retired but well-to-do warrior. Both seem to be quite well-off financially on account of this
  • Despite his dual gender, Rahferu is in fact capable of bearing or creating offspring. The likelihood that he would survive birthing is a bit low, and the odds of the children achieving longevity and developing properly are unlikely
  • Rahferu's mother sometimes follows him around, mimicking the form of a tiny, windup female demon. She usually seen hanging on his shoulder and is constantly suspected of whispering advice to her de-facto son's webbed ears.
  • If you see the accompaniment node minion, know that in RP it is a functional piece of Allagan magitek that is meant monitor his condition and emissions.
  • Rah has a notable affinity for most creatures and can befriend a wide range of creatures, be it beastkin or even some beastfolk--hence why a tiny owlet or gaelikitten sometimes can be seen perching on his shoulder.
