Appearance & Personality

V'ieh stands approximately five feet and one inch tall, with a slim but muscular build, though her legs were very muscular compared to the rest of her build. She has tanned, clear skin and hair a few shades darker than her skin tone. Her hair itself is usually in a messy braid, or rested along her shoulders. Her eyes are a muted amber, nothing out of the ordinary or stand-out-ish for her race and clan. Her lips are usually curled into a sly smirk or sweet smile, dependent on the situation. Her facial markings aren't extreme, but three stripes rest on her cheeks and her forehead, a quiet colour matching to her tanned flesh.

Her ears are pointed and usually relaxed closer into her skull, and her tail is usually slack, letting gravity control it's resting, save for a few flicks every now and then in specific situations. Her nails are usually painted nicely with nail lacquer, usually pastel colours, and are usually pointed in cat-claw like shape. Publicly she's usually seen in simple common or casual clothing and she doesn't spend a whole lot of time on her appearance, and sometimes can look rather messy after being in Gridania's garden. If you see her in her armor, you're likely in for a bad time.

Though she looks like she'll probably stab someone and she packs a bit of a punch when you get to know her. Upon first meeting she might seem docile and timid, not in her proper environment, unless someone she trusts is with her. It's difficult for her to crawl out of her shell with people but she will if given the right advances. She practices a lot of meditation and zen practices, believing entirely in the peace of mind and body to be able to perform to the best of her ability, and is usually very vulgar outwardly. She can be a bit jumpy with loud noises, and it can set off a few uncomfortable emotions for her. She's usually a jokester with people she knows well, and can have quite a raunchy sense of humour. Her vocabulary is extensive, but she adopts a casual vernacular when she feels comfortable and at peace to look more like a commoner.

Biography

Childhood

V'iehessi's upbringing was typical to a little girl who resided in a Seeker Clan, taught to be more submissive in nature to the patriarchal society she was raised in. However, she tended to be more of a clan troublemaker, not adhering to normal Seeker of the Sun Tribe rules. Her tribe resided in the quenching heated desert in Southern Thanalan; a sub-sect of the Vulture tribe, lead under an egotistical Nuhn with many women under his harem. At the time the tribe itself was rather corrupt, relatives of the Nuhn living rather lavish, many of his sons born into subsequent power, and though V'iehessi couldn't speak out about it, she did her best to remember she was her own person.

V'iehessi took a strong liking to plant life and the flora of the dried sandy hills of Thanalan, enjoying nurturing the flowers that bloomed on cacti, learning how to sap water from the prickly roots while she was young and extremely adventurous of her own home region. She took care of a small patch of spring flowers next to a hot spring on the coast of the Thanalan desert.

At the age of 18 the women in her clan were branded with a scalding cast iron "V" on the back of their necks to symbolize that they were a property of the subordinate clan of V, a sub-sect outside of the larger "Vah" or "Vulture" clan. After branding they either pursued a trade craft skill such as textiles or culinary arts to feed their young, Nunh, and Tia men, or, they were women set for breeding with the clan Nunh and the Nunh's hierarchy of valued sons. V'ieh possessed no refined skills, having rebelled against her culture from the get-go. Being prime mating age for V'alag Nunh and his two prized sons, she knew what her fate would be, nothing more than a breeding dump to raise countless children. Her mother had pleaded with her to not leave, telling her the consequences would be severe, but V'ieh had no interest in being a mindless hive-mentality breeding ground.

She left during the night, and hid her face with a silk scarf, but by the sun rise, Tia's were out looking for their missing property. V'ieh was captured. She was knocked out and was brought to a damp, abandoned mining cave. The operation set up there was not only for her, but she knew it was for others before her with her mentality. V'ieh spent a week in starvation, dehydration, hair burning and pulling, cuts between the webs of her toes and fingers that weren't allowed to heal, ripping up the nail bed under her nails, strangulation, and more torture of the like. They had planned in front of her to sexually assault her, and though she was living bare bones, her adrenaline kicked into overdrive to get her out of a situation she wanted to run away from from the beginning. Her wrists were thin enough to escape from the bindings she was in, and she broke a glass wine bottle from the side of her wooden frame she rested on. She has no recollection of the events that occurred, but the Tia men were over-killed, being mutilated and sliced open all over to bleed out. This begins the moment of bloodlust V'ieh feels whenever she is threatened, pushed into a corner, or emotionally compromised.

She escaped holding a string of her life left, a large glass shard tearing into the flesh in her hand as a means to protect herself. She ran free covered in blood, and under a few hours, met Ferathir Dawnbreaker, who emerged from another copper mine nearby. He stopped and tried to lend aid to V'ieh but she automatically thought of him as a foe, as he wielded a sword and a shield and her primal bloodlust prompted her to believe he was a threat. She tried to raise up her glass shard to attack him, but she was slowly coming down from the bloodlust, and was too weak to even hold herself upright. He brought her to a nearby trade village, cleaning her up, tending to wounds and buying her food and water. She slept for what could have felt like an eternity but when she woke, she was groggy and didn't have much recollection of what was going on. They spent the next week together, talking and sharing their woes with one another, and by the end of it all, they both realized they felt they had nothing. They pledged an Oath to each other that day, that they would protect each other under any means necessary. Thus, beginning the Oathsworn Vigil.

Adulthood

Ferathir suggested that when they parted ways, V'ieh go under an alias so the men who wanted to do her harm would have a harder time finding her. She came up with V'ieh Vhessi, a pseudonym for V'iehessi. After Ferathir and V'ieh parted ways, V'ieh took a carriage to Gridania where she was told was in the midst of the most lush forest in all Eorzea. On the carriage she met a man named Hiro, a Doman refugee going from place to place doing bounty contracts. He promised to teach her the art of Ninjutsu, a martial art similar to rogue's work with blades and stealth. They first began by meditating for weeks at a time, not learning any self defense or offensive moves until she found her "zen". V'ieh wasn't partial to the idea but Hiro had the strong suspicion that she needed to learn who she was, and that she needed this after what he assumed was her, living with trauma. V'ieh thrived after a solid few weeks, and they both picked up contract work where V'ieh seemed to flourish in the art of Ninjutsu. The two soon fell in love, and continued to live their lives, travelling from city-state to city-state, taking bounty contracts on people who would seek to do the world harm. She had planned to recite the Oath to Hiro just as she did with Ferathir.

During a contract, Hiro and V'ieh were ambushed by her clan's Tia's. V'ieh seemed to block out the memory of it almost entirely, claiming Hiro was killed by mere Tia's of V'alag Nunh. On the contrary, V'ieh entered her bloodlust state, and managed to kill three Tia's, as well as Hiro, single-handedly on her own, assuming everyone around her was a foe. Of course, she didn't recognize the flaws in her made up story until later on in time. The rest of the Tia's escaped with their life, and V'ieh held Hiro, coming out of her bloodlust, trying to recite the Oath before he passed away in her arms, his last words being "You've grown from a kitten, to a tiger."

V'ieh mourned for some time, abandoning all of her interests, such as Magitek tinkering, meditation, and botany. She continued from city to city taking bounties and earning money to keep her alive and sheltered, as well as having emotionless one night stands with men and women who she avoided thereafter, always. She soon began to feel like she was being watched, and kept her head down when she wasn't drinking wine in Ul'dah or laying the first man or woman to look at her from across the bar.

Present

Ferathir summoned V'ieh to the Lavender Beds after nearly a year, where he introduced her to their newest Oathsister, Minako Obinata. V'ieh was skeptical, and untrustworthy at first but her brain immediately played into the "attractive girl in front of me" mindset. Ferathir announced that Minako would be doing some leatherworking for the company house they would be sharing together some day. This point, was the first time V'ieh heard of the Oathsworn Vigil becoming a company, and seemed confused yet again. She felt the life in a house was too lavish for her, having lived with Hiro room to room in each city.

V'ieh brought up the feeling of being watched with Ferathir, and he too agreed he felt it as well. V'ieh attempted to look into it further but didn't find much. Ferathir and V'ieh met up once again, alone, and they shared their stories on love. V'ieh admitted she was mourning Hiro, and Ferathir admitted he too was mourning still the loss of a loved one, from back when they had first met.

V'ieh attempted to visit her old clan, at night, only to find that the entire village was burnt to the ground, nothing left but ash and broken, burned up frames of housing, as well as bones of the deceased. She couldn't cry about the loss of her family, but she knew whoever did it was still there, the smoke was too fresh. They lunged at her, and V'ieh let the mystery figure attack her to gain trust. She knew she'd find nothing else otherwise if she didn't gain his trust.

V'ieh found a bounty for the man who burnt down her village, Thata'wo Kaatapoh, a Keeper of the Moon. She found him at the Gold Saucer while on a trip with Ferathir and Minako. She attempted to pursue him but it was a false bounty and Thata'wo was simply too meek and timid to be someone who could burn a whole village to the ground.

Eventually, the true mystery man emerged and begged V'ieh to just killed him. He was a Tia in her clan who had no choice but to hurt and maim innocent people, and felt tormented. She did as he asked, and summoned Minako and Ferathir to watch as she put the mystery to rest.

One night while eavesdropping on Minako and Ferathir, who had just become a couple, Ferathir elicited her bloodlust response out of her, almost taking Ferathir's life with her blades against his throat. In that moment, Ferathir seemed to wrangle out of V'ieh that it was her who killed Hiro, not V'alag Nunh or his Tia's. She went into mourning for a while, and gave Ferathir her blades until she felt it was right to have them back again. She spent her time in Costa del Sol, the place both V'ieh and Hiro liked to be the most.

V'ieh promptly decided to forego the Oath, being purposely taunted into her bloodlust by Ferathir during training him.

V'ieh has taken up residence at Nine Lives Inc., where she currently is renting a room, and perhaps looking into some security work for business merchants and traders. She lives in her rented room with Xehn'a Hmyr, her current love interest.

She has also taken under an apprentice, Thata'wo Kaatapoh, a flighty, overzealous fist-fighting Keeper of the Moon, who she knew from the Oath.

Miscellaneous

Since birth, V'ieh has been affected by "Aether Sickness". This prevents her from teleporting, attuning to Aetheryte, and drawing from her lifeforce to another. She acknowledges people's ability to teleport but will rarely talk about it with others unless specifically asked.

V'ieh will back and forth switch between a rugged, roguish accent and a formal, well versed accent depending on situations.

V'ieh can enter a frenzied, bloodlust state when threatened or provoked, or when she believes she's in danger. In this state she is usually unresponsive to diplomacy, vocal queues, and becomes increasingly dangerous and deadly in combat. When she phases back into a calmed state, she has very little recollection of recently past events and occurrences.

Pets and Minions

Mary → Tender Lamb : Mary is a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb. Mary is a little lamb, who's deaf and blind and cute. And everywhere that Mary went, Mary went, Mary went; Everywhere that Mary went, V'ieh was sure to go.

Pobby → Korpokkur Kid : Pobby is a sassy, rather aloof Korpokkur child that V'ieh found on a trip into the Hinterlands that seemed to just follow her around. Every now and again Pobby will emerge from some random corner of wherever she's currently at and watches from afar. Pobby is particularly fond of the rain, and strawberry shortcake crumbs.

Pickles → Gaelikitten : His name is Pickles because when you wrap him up in his green cape wings he looks like a fuzzy pickle.

CURRENT RELATIONS

Romantic Interest Platonic Love Good Standing Poor Standing
Ferathir Dawnbreaker : After finding her in the deserts of Thanalan, beaten and abused, Ferathir took V'ieh under his guidance and protection until she got on her feet. He set her up with some self defensive studies and pushed her onto her way to become peaceful, despite the anger she felt after being kidnapped and tortured for bruising her clan Nuhn's ego. Since then, the two have bonded and are sworn under The Oath that they would protect and help each other by all means necessary. Unfortunately, V'ieh has foregone the Oath out of personal necessity, and for the safety of Ferathir and others under the Oath. However, after regaining contact, they've begun anew, and are working on mending broken ties.
Minako Obinata : Her first Oathsister, and the third in the Oath, she isn't as close to Minako as she'd like to be, but already has sisterly feelings for her after realizing they perhaps have more in common than she thought, being both trained Ninjas. V'ieh is curious as to what she finds romantically in Ferathir, and is proud of Minako for tolerating someone who can be so stubborn.
Xehn'a Hmyr : V'ieh was one day approached by Xehn'a while she was voluntarily tending to Gridania's flowers. Since then, they play pretend and act out scenes in little stories they make up, and have since scarified each other with a triangle on each other's forearm, the alchemical symbol for fire. She is still hesitant in feeling romantically involved with someone, and nothing is "official", but simply in a courting process. She enjoys spending her time around someone who is very free and fiery, the same as her.
Thata'wo Kaatapoh : Falsely accused of burning her village down, V'ieh picked up his bounty until finally pursuing him and realizing he was nothing but a gnat that was pinned as a decoy. Seeing his upbeat personality and scattered brain, this made her drop tracking the bounty and have it withdrawn under false accusation. She attempted to bring him under the Oath but he evaded in every chance. Eventually, she hired him in under as her apprentice, teaching him how to fight, hold his own, and undertake bounties.
Ildalli Lovisa : Leader of the Nine Lives company, V'ieh doesn't know much about the woman who spearheads the company, other than she respects her ability to lead a group of wild mercenaries. V'ieh hopes to get to know Dalli better in the coming years.
