Character

Yloise is a Duskwight, being a Elezen which resides mostly in underground realms. They are nomadic at times, so it is common to move often. She is not part of an official Duskwight Clan at this time. She is currently traveling with a group called the Seven. She grew up in caves in Gridania, and her family are well known goldsmiths, her mother a master of precious metals and her father of carving gemstones.

Note: Yloise does not have the Echo, nor is a part of the Scions. She has no information on anything relating to the events portrayed in the game.

Appearance

Yloise appears as a Elezen woman with light ash grey skin. She stands tall at seventy-eight ilms, and has a lean build with toned, but minimal muscle showing. Her hair is long and black, in certain lights you can tell there is a dark grey mixed into it. She has a knack to wear dressy and feminine outfits and even tho Ul'dah is dusty, she prefers to stay clean, if it is just wiping herself off with a lacy handkerchief. She wears classic flat black ear clasps on each of her ears. Her age is undetermined by looking at her, her skin is smooth and flawless. Her facial features are angled, but not pointed, but rather rounded off. Her ears stand at a good ninety degree angle from her head and are quite long for a Elezen.

Behavior

Yloise is a well spoken, somewhat fragile Elezen woman. She hates conflict and will try to placate any by feigning innocence and/or cowardice. She prefers to get even on her own terms and is patient in doing so. She is intelligent and witty, but not always outspoken in her thoughts, quiet at times and unwilling to share. She seems arrogant at times, as well as narcissistic, but typically this is not very well known among those who have met her. Her motives are not always communicated so she sometimes will surprise you with her intentions.

Yloise is a manipulator, contrary at times, and selfish. Her greed and selfishness is hidden by a thick facade of acting, and placating others around her by asking probing questions and pretending to care. Only very few people in the world currently has seen her true self.

History/Timeline

Yloise was raised in Gridania. She was raised to be as much akin to the Wildwood and revered by many of the nobles for her family's specialty to craft jewelry in exquisite conditions. Some of the pieces that her parents collaborated upon are famous, some are hidden secretly in her family's vault, needed someday to pay or to be used for bartering. From a youngish age, Yloise was taught how to spin gold, hammer silver, and carve gemstones to perfection. As a very small child, she was taught to use the grindstone to polish stones to perfection. Looking back now, she resents her family for pushing her very early into working, and did not have a typical sense of freedom and childhood like anyone else. School and any outside learning besides mining, and jewelry design was not taught. Her reading is rudimentary, and any history or other book knowledge is minimal. Because of the pressure of her family to perform, she had no friends or associates outside the realm of the family.

After moving to Ul'dah to setup a new branch of her family's jewelry store, Yloise has been disappointed by regulations and permits to be paid in full before she could sell any wares. The Syndicate seems to have their fingers in all aspects of Ul'dah. This left her discouraged and disheartened enough to seek work in another way in Ul'dah. She is getting low on Gil so it is beginning to put pressure on her to find a way to make income without needing to succumb to the policy (Bribery) of Ul'dah and the Syndicate.

Having her new founded freedom of being without the guiding hand of her family, she has taken the idea to enjoy what life is truly about, drinking, buying clothes, and being independent. After running low on funds supplied by her family, she now has taken up the task of being a burglar and thievery to support her smithing. She has fallen directly into a trap that she never wanted into her race's stereotype. So far she has been careful, and no clues have been found to implicate her in any open investigations. Yloise has met a few intriguing persons of note (below), she has become more adventurous in taking the task to survive in Ul'dah. Even if it is legal or not...she thinks she has her first target. The twelve only knows if she will succeed in her midnight task.

Yloise has now been caught up with a group of adventurers, traveling through Thanalan. The twelve only know what she really might be up to with them. She has gotten really integrated into the group now, and is essential for keeping the peace within the group by negotiations. Because of her lack of combat skills, Yloise has begun to search for a Monk teacher, to help her learn the art of combat through unarmed fighting.

Recently the Seven have left Ul'dah heading for another location, where Yloise is tagging along and giving up on her quest to set up a shop in Ul'dah. This might be disappointing for her family to hear about but they have no influence on her decisions now. Yloise sent off a letter of her movements to her family, disagreeing with them about setting up a shop in Ul'dah. They in turn sent a notification letter from the family's representative, a family friend to tell her that she has been disowned due to her disobedience. She has not told any of her new friends of this yet, but she does not plan to. She rather not care about her family who has been strict with her in the past. She agrees to break all contact and references from them, unfortunately she has the name to constantly remind her, so she is considering going by another surname in the future.

After a fight atop Rathefrost, Yloise realized that she is not prepared to fight aspects of the gods. Being the cowardly woman she is, she refuses to become a true adventurer and help the Order of the Sword and the Rose in this case. This information is not quite public yet but it will cause a certain amount of strife if they attempt to call upon her for assistance in helping Grimnir.
