Basic OOC Info

Not only am I shy about sudden, unplanned IC interaction, but I also like to make sure that RP styles mesh well to avoid any undue conflicts on an OOC level in the future.
-While I am ERP friendly and Umi is a Courtesan, that is NOT the only aspect of her roleplay I wish to act out.
To discourage people focusing on that one part of Umi, I charge actual gil for her services as listed in the A Courtesan section.
-I AM happy to RP Umi as a mistress to an established/married couple ONLY if both roleplayers consent to those actions OOCly.
Being sneaky behind your RP partner's back is not cool, and I reserve the right to close all contact with those who choose to do that.

Appearance
Umi is an average height for a Sunseeker Miqo'te female, at five fulm one ilm. Her figure is generally sleek and comfortable- minimal, yet still feminine curves. Her bosom, however, is ample and almost always framed with low cut tops and brass bangles. Lightly bronzed, Umi maintains her tanned skin by sunbathing daily and has thus gathered a spattering of light freckles over her shoulders and back.
Z'zhumii's soft, platinum-blonde hair is kept swept up in a classically fashionable updo, the sides braided and left to dangle.
Umi's eyes, with the characteristic slit-irises of the Sunseeker tribe, are a charming periwinkle blue. Often lofted into a dreamy sort of look, Umi's eyelids are often powdered with a lovely cornflower blue color to better enhance her eyes. Her soft, plush lips are painted a rich, deep coral colour, and both her finger and toenails are lacquered with shimmering pearl paint.
Z'zhumii Umi carries herself with the grace that her profession requires; her posture and gait are like that of a woman of wealth and nobility. Almost every step she takes is accompanied by a myriad of tinkling bells, chiming bangles, and jingling coins.
Personality
Z'zhumii Umi is a self-made woman in the city of coin, and she takes great pride in that fact- even if some look down on her for her choice of work.
She is a sunny, cheerful young woman who enjoys playful banter and secduction of both the body and mind. Despite the common perception of women in her profession, Z'zhumii is an intellectual and truly must be in order to be as successful as she is. Studious in political and historical matters, as well as artistic endeavors, Umi tries to keep up on current events so that she may act as confidant and even counsel to her patrons.
Like many other Sunseeker Miqo'te, Umi is a devotee to Azeyma, the goddess of the sun. Pious to a fault, she regularly makes offerings to the goddess and will take pilgrimage to the Sanctum of the Twelve (considering Azeyma's proper temple is no longer a viable option) at least once a year.
A Courtesan
There are many misconceptions regarding Umi's work as a courtesan - that it is unclean, unsavory, and a form of slavery. While slavery in the sex trade is common and tragic, courtesans and slaves are completely different in both nature and practice.
Umi chose her profession- it was not foisted upon her and she was not put into shackles, figuratively or literally, and is quite happy with all the work entailed.
Always wanting to keep up to date on the latest news, dances, and musical compositions, Umi spends much of her day seeking tutelage on current events and fashionable pastimes, never wanting to seem out of date.
Her clothing and jewelry choices, on the contrary, blatantly ignore the current and ever changing fashions that rise and fall in Ul'dah. Instead, Umi prefers classical and timeless clothing that she knows will not suddenly go out of style a week after it had been introduced. All of her wardrobe is finely crafted and made of some of the best fabrics and bangles available.
The services of a courtesan are many. Sex is a part of it, yes, but that is not always the case and not all of her work. Umi attends parties and dances at the whims of her patrons as a sort of “paid guest”, intended to keep the atmosphere lively with music, witty banter, dancing, and light flirtation. She is skilled in the harp and harpsichord, the lute and flute, as well as formal and informal dancing. Her work also demands that she keep on top of political intrigue- both to avoid a possibly disastrous partnership as well as share juicy gossip with powerful clients.

History
Z'zhumii Umi, obviously, comes from one Sunseeker Ziz tribe.
She was raised in the typical tribal manner in the Sangoli desert, with one presiding Nunh, a few Tia, and many strong women. While life was comfortable to a degree, Umi was not fond of having a breeding male 'chosen' for her.
She learned from an early age, due to the mistakes of her mother, that while one Nunh might favor and lavish you with gifts, his replacement might disregard you entirely. Umi wanted to be in some control of who she could be with and what she could get out of them.
At age sixteen, Z'zhumii Umi traveled with a small trade caravan from her people to Ul'dah and upon seeing the sparkling city and some of the street dancing Miqo'te girls, parted from her tribe to join them. There was a sense of freedom witht these women that she had never seen before- she earned her own money, she got to do what she wanted with said money, and most importantly she could be with whomever she chose to be with.
A few years of dancing earned Umi enough to take steps to a higher calling- hiring a tutor so that she could become educated in more worldly things than desert survival, buying her way into the balls of the noble class to make precious contacts, and finally rented a high end loft in the Goblet. She became a courtesan.
