Originating from Doman peasantry, Aguri, a self proclaimed artist, values the importance of living life to the fullest above all else, vowing to never settle down and constantly keep moving. Unfortunately for her though this eagerness is usually short lived by her wallet, as many times she has been caught bumming the streets of city states; either looking for hand outs or trying to sell her work.
The short Raen has a repeating characteristic; looking relaxed and carefree. From the way she moves, to the way she dresses, even the way she does her hair. It's like she puts no heart into her appearance and it definitely shows as from head to toe as she has that "I just woke up" look to her.
However, she's rather dull beyond that with nothing else being strikingly apparent besides her raggedy, purple robe.
Aguri's personality wholly reflects her appearance as she commonly speaks using a lax voice, full of warmth and kind words.
She's also akin to an optimist with a habit to point out solely the good things in a situation whilst outright ignoring potential danger (which sometimes leaks into her decision making).
Born of little background and youngest out of seven, childhood quickly became synonymous with misery as her family plummeted further into the hole of poverty, which eventually led up to Aguri's perhaps foolish decision to leave home at a young age.
Life as a vagrant urchin child wasn't entirely bad though. She made due with what she had and soon realized home was neither a place nor a feeling; the back of someone's wagon, an old alleyway, or even the vacant homes of travelling nobles. It always worked and not before long she became a self-proclaimed master of opportunity knowing when and where a, sometimes literal, window would be open for her. However self-proclaimed titles are usually self-proclaimed for a reason. In truth Aguri wasn't very good at her style of living and this was made apparent soon enough as she found herself face-to-face with the noble-born owner of the house she was trespassing in. Though for some odd reason he didn't respond with hostility. Instead, the man accepted Aguri into opens arms and considered her an honored guest, vowing to assist her in getting her life on track, and that's exactly what he did. He showed her art, taught her etiquette, explained to her things she never even dreamed of; like student to teacher, or father to daughter. They shared this relatively unknown relationship for nearly a decade, and outside of friends and family, kept mostly to themselves.
No one is quite sure what happened between them after that. Some believe Aguri branched off from him long before the desecration of Doma in hopes to pursue a life of her own, while others say they simply lost each other when trying to escape to the mainland of Eorzea. Whatever the case may be, Aguri did indeed land in Eorzea without him and has been there for the past few months, fulfilling her wanderlust and sharing little of her past life.
- Perhaps out of shame, Aguri shares little of her Doman past and rarely indulges even good friends with it.
Having recently completed another one of her cross-continental trips, going from Gridania to Ul'dah, Aguri is now restocking and resting while waiting for another opportunity to go North presents itself.
