A common sight amidst the bustling port city of Kugane, Akeno Asukai made a name for herself well before the influx of Eorzean blood to Hingashi soils. Born into one of Hingashi's prominent Clans, Akeno was afforded a number of opportunities during her childhood -- effectively grooming the woman to take her place as Clan Lord, were it not for the fact that she'd been born a woman. A treachery which allowed her younger brother, Kazuari, to take the mantle of Clan Lord when their father fell ill during Kazuari's tenth name-day. It is a slight Akeno has never quite recovered from and the very moment which set the head-strong illusionist on her path of vengeance.
A woman gifted with a cunning ability to manipulate the world around her, Akeno seeks to reclaim the mantle which she believes to be rightfully hers -- regardless of the sex between her thighs. It is this path which points the seething, serpent of a woman West to the port-city of Kugane and the distant shores of Eorzea herself; what better place to acquire mercenaries and blood-thirsty savages, hm? Now, raising her station as the "crowned monarch" of the Asukai Clan, Akeno seeks to amass her own army -- filling sacred ranks with Western blood in the hopes of besting her baby brother once and for all. But such is a dangerous path and Akeno flirts with danger at every opportunity. The community she builds is malicious and every individual who falls so willingly into the spun web becomes a weapon to be used against any who'd dare to call themselves her enemy.
Standing at a full height of four foot, nine inches Akeno Asukai does not strike the most threatening of poses when compared the company she keeps. However, there is something murderous and wicked resonating from deep within the tawny skinned monarch of Hingashi descent. A crown of deep, melted chocolate is forever warring with the streaks of bright, platinum blonde -- the highlights persisting throughout the mid-shoulder length hair. Often styled to one side, Akeno favors a rather disheveled fringe -- preferring to keep the lowest portion of her hair curled loosely.
Hingashi born and a thoroughbred specimen through and through, Akeno shows favor to her homeland as well as her station with her manner of dress and presentation. Typical poised with her hands folded neatly together at the front of her abdomen, the small statured Raen carries herself with all the makings of a ruler. Clothing is kept neat and tidy, with a variety of outfits designed to emphasis the monarch's particular assets. Long coats are favored, while most gloves are finger-less to allow painted talons breathing room.
Exceptional care is taken when keeping the pale beige scales of her ancestry groomed properly. Oils are applied frequently and massages in to prevent the armored growths from drying out and becoming brittle or discolored. This same ritual and care is taken in regards to the woman's skin -- ensuring that the supple tissues remain youthful well into the coming years. Perhaps it is this degree of care and consideration, or the woman's deep devotion to her heritage and traditions which set Akeno apart from the vast majority of her kin.
