Appearance & Personality

Azana is a Miqo'te of the Sun Seeker variety, inheriting the tan complexion of his parents, and his father's dark brown hair. He stands at a 5'7" height, around the average to tall range for a Miqo'te. His long hair is tied back in a plait, secured by a red ribbon given to him by his mother. Although his parents are not Doman, Azana's upbringing in the Eastern country has influenced his sense of style when it comes to his hair and clothing. He bears the cat-like eyes of a Seeker, golden-brown in colour.
Azana is a fairly gentle soul who, as retainer to a Raen nobleman for most of his life has learned to conduct himself in a most courteous manner. He knows how to behave around those he sees as being of a higher status to himself, and his training as a healer has taught him compassion for others. His faults lie in his trusting nature, and this occasionally leads him to fall foul of those who would take advantage of it. He does not take kindly to people who he sees as impolite or disrespectful.

Biography

Origin: Across the Sea of Jade

Born to two Miqo’te house servants of the Kusuri family, A’zana lived among the house staff for his childhood. Although they held no social status as slaves freed from a market in Western Doma, his Seeker parents were treated kindly by their employer, Kusuri no Katakagi, a nobleman among Raen who took them in once the band of slavers who had captured them were imprisoned.

At a young age, the Miqo’te showed proficiency in magicks, and this did not go unnoticed. He was made the personal attendant to the Kusuri family, dropping the apostrophe in his name and taking their surname as his own as a sign of his servitude. He lived happily during his service, a world away from the torment his parents suffered as slaves to their previous masters. Training with the town’s physician, Azana learned much of the ways of Doman conjury and medicine, and was allowed to practice magick in aid of the townspeople of Tanjo.

However, relations with the occupying Garlean forces were worsening, and Katakagi had decided to retreat to the Kusuri family’s ancestral home in the mountains to avoid the coming war and rebellion that had begun to spread across Doma. It was then that Azana was granted his leave by the family, so that he may travel to Eorzea with the masses of refugees that had begun to flee Othard. The young conjurer couldn’t anticipate what would happen in the coming moons, but he hoped to aid those in need once they reached the safe haven of Mor Dhona.

After spending some time in the market town helping with the relief efforts, the Doman community had found their footing in Mor Dhona and Azana decided his job there was complete. He set out for Gridania, hoping to learn more about Eorzean conjury and start a new life as an adventurer.

Wandering Eorzea

For a while after setting out from Revenant's Toll, Azana wandered Eorzea aimlessly, taking odd jobs posted on notice boards to pay his way through, at times helping out at local clinics and guard outposts in exhange for a night's stay. During this time he learned more about Eorzea's realms, from the ale-soaked pirates of Limsa Lominsa to the Ishgardian nobles and their strife with the dragons. Notable among his travels was his stay at Oschon's Grace, a clinic in the residential area of Ul'dah. The Doman teamaster found his extended stay there very enjoyable, lasting almost a full moon before he thanked his hosts for their generosity and went on his way again.

Azana found himself in The Black Shroud next, the sprawling forests a pleasant reminder of the untouched wilderness of East Othard. Bentbranch was his next stop, offering his expertise in the case of an illness spreading among the village's chocobo stablehands. As Azana made preparations to leave once his work was complete, he was presented with a gift as a token of their appreciation: a chocobo hatchling that had an appetite like no other, one that was never going to be suitable for a life of racing. Deciding to accept their gift, and make a companion of this chocobo, he gave it a name: Shibo. Taking his new friend along, Azana set out once more to wander this new and unfamiliar land.
