Problematic in both presence and persona, Azelous was bastard-born of House Mestonnant, the unwanted souvenir of an illict and ill-advised tryst between Lord Mestonnant and a lower-rung lady of House Dzemael. Unceremoniously dumped, more or less, on the manor doorstep, Azelous was grudgingly taken in, foisted upon a likely steward and bid make something of himself. Between his father's frigid aloofness and mother's unwavering scorn, Azelous was educated - but not raised. Yet the arts and academia ill-suited his temperment and though his grasp on thaumaturgic theory was sound, the practical application of magic lay just beyond his manicured fingertips. What recourse was left, then, to a fledgling noble desperate to prove his worth in the doubting eyes of his detractors?
