Biography

Bang Kruchabun could be considered a mythical city, had it not been cited on many official maps of Nagxia. Temples and castles were often merged, being made of gold on their roof tiles. In the early winter, the sky lit up with floating lanterns and the bright streets were decorated to make way for transgender women seeking the title of beauty queen. It was famous for the festivals and general prosperity that gave it that region of Nagxia the name 'The Land of Smiles'.

A palace that was suited as a Nagxian Hyuran prince's summer home sat north of the river surrounding the city, staffed by several Miqo'te families. One such family had recently bore a daughter, Chaniporn; the name meaning 'blessed daughter' in their dialect of Nagxian. Regardless of her name, some would view Chaniporn as anything but. Even up to the age of four, she was a trickster; studying too little, eating too much, and stealing anything she could. Despite her status as a troublemaker, she was adored by her parents. That memory stuck out the most to her before darkness swelled over The Land of Smiles.

The Garlean Empire encroached on Nagxian land and was swift to claim it, razing the city of Bang Kruchabun for their resistance. Chaniporn escaped to the river, the only things washing soot from her bruised face being her tears and the freshwater that guided her to the village of Suphandao. Her trek lasted two days until she was met, on the verge of collapsing, with what would be her best friend for many decades onward; Somjit Vipavakit. Chaniporn was raised alongside the kathoey - a transgender female - by the Vipavakit family of potters. Oftentimes, she and Somjit were sent to forage for food and gather clay for the Vipavakits to work with. It was during one of these trips in their teen years that they met with a young Garlean conscript who offered to bring them to a better future; to Lat Luari. Though Somjit was reluctant, there were many things Chaniporn wanted to see; the development of the town especially. After some time of Sunan - the conscript - and Chaniporn convincing her, they went together.

It would be the very first time Somjit and Chaniporn had ridden - or even heard of - a train. The journey was something that would stay with Chaniporn forever. Lat Luari developed from a humble town of textile workers to a grand station for the Garlean military. The Garlean governer's base of Castrum Pyrum oversaw the dotted venues below, every other developed plot of land occupied by cabaret venues, brothels, and even casinos. They were supposedly run by Nagxian residents, but a majority of the funds went for paying Garlean debts and supporting the military. At naive young ages, Somjit and Chaniporn found this much better than what Suphandao had to offer.

While Somjit befriended the kathoey that lived in Lat Luari and began her work at a cabaret show, Chaniporn managed in bartending for the same business, until she had lost her position due to her developing a strong taste for the drink. To bring in more money to support her and Somjit's flat, she started working in gambling circles, oftentimes cheating out people on the streets. Where Somjit was admired and had even competed to be a beauty queen, Chaniporn had an unsavory reputation as a double-crosser. Regardless, she worked alongside Somjit for the next two years, building a pool of people of to support them. Albeit, it all came crumbling down when they'd received news that Somjit's dear friend, Sunan, had been slain in the razing of Doma. Utterly broken, the final straw for Somjit was when she refused a persistent soldier's advances, leading herself and Chaniporn to being charged with third degree murder.

With mounting debt and being charged with homicide at just the age of seventeen, Chaniporn took Somjit into hiding with her, making their way to hide in the depths of the city of Chiang Krutang further south. They'd managed to stay in the underbelly for thirteen years, the two working at various bars and casinos at long hours for low wages. It almost seemed a miracle when Doma was liberated from Garlemald's grasp, when the viceroy Yotsuyu goe Brutus was killed in the palace's flooding. Though Nagxia was still under occupation, they could manage to send ambassadors in secret to meet with Doma to discuss their conditions. It was with the number of trains departing from Chiang Krutang with exports that Somjit and Chaniporn eventually snuck on, leaving between railroad expresses to find their way north. Their survivalist skills from living in a rural village assisted them in making it across Doma's border so they could manage a ship to the West. With that, they'd sold all their possessions for fare and rode free across the seas. What's left is their future in Eorzea.

Personality

Attitude

The Races of Man have shown themselves, time and again, to be greedy, close-minded, and selfish. Chaniporn is of the mind that these people are meant to be defeated by wonderful people; in her methods, usually in the form of pranks and being a general nuisance. Good-spirited and compassionate, but a nuisance nonetheless.

Sociability

Extremely.

Expressiveness

Just because her hair covers much of her face, this doesn't hinder her ability to let others know what's up with her.

Notes & Trivia

  • Since she's a calico, being covered in black spots of fur is typical for her, however she has particularly dark lines surrounding her brilliant red eyes. It's not a sign she's evil or anything, though. It just looks cool.
  • She is left-handed.
  • She was fifteen when she became a gambling broker in Lat Luari, mostly working at pugnax-fighting rings and running her own street dice games.
