Clay Enterprises

Founded in 1205, Sixth Astral Era, just over two centuries after the Sultan first became sworn in, Clay Enterprises, originated as The Clay Trading Company, grew from a simple trading stand into what it is known today: A heavy supplier of all trades and crafts for new and old merchants alike, including arms and armaments for needed war efforts. They are open and willing to help new businesses get on their feet and strive to keep renewal one-hundred percent through dedicated trade. Primarily based in Ul'dah, it has spread to the other City-states through partnerships and trading whenever possible.

The History of Clay Enterprises

The Clay Trading Company was founded by a simple man who would never dream of what it would truly become. Trevor Clay, 1205-1220 ((years as Headmaster)), loved all aspects of crafting to the point he wish he could have learned them all. The first generation was low in profits as with all companies, Trevor only headed the company for fifteen years before his oldest, Aldwin, succeeded.

Aldwin, 1220-1253, was just as ambitious as his father and helped Clay Trading continue in its expansion in Ul'dah to become one of the main businesses there. He is solely responsible for getting Clay Trading's name into the great range of Ul'dah's market. His son, Trewin, 1253-1269, would succeed and have an uneventful head for the company.

Vicker, 1269-1313, succeeded a few years prior to the Ul'dahn war against the Sil'dah civilization. He was the first to show the capabilities of The Clay Trading Company's assistance in war. Not only did he spearhead the company in its armament manufacturing, he personally advised wisdom and strategy in the war during his long forty-five year reign as headmaster. He sadly would not see the end of the long war, passing at the old age of seventy-one.

Stannis, 1313-1338, continued to his father's goals in the war effort but lacked the strategic knowledge and wisdom to assist in the war. Instead he sought to increase production to prove that The Clay Trading Company was more than just for trading. His son Gylbert, 1338-1362, succeeded as the long war refused to be settled in over sixty years.

This would be the first and only one of two generation skips when Glybert's son, Gauwin, became a casualty of the Sil'dah War. His grandson Hennessy, 1362-1397, took the reigns then at his grandfather's passing at the young age of twenty-six. The war finally ended in what was said that the Sil'dah civilization became swallowed up with sand.

Hennessy sought to expand The Clay Trading beyond the walls of Ul'dah, looking to open trade with Limsa Lominsa. It took years and he would just barely see his goals succeed before his son Wineburg, 1397-1413, became headmaster. This was a difficult time for The Clay Trading as Wineburg was not as strong in business than expected. The company almost saw its end till his son Tommen wrestled the company into his hands at the behest of a new board of directors.

Tommen, 1413-1436, brought what it is now known as, Clay Enterprises, back to the top quickly at a strong and rough reorganization. It would remain at this state rest of its generations. His son, Alfgar, 1436-1468, who was known for a kind heart and generosity knew no bounds, married a lowly beggar whom he loved dearly. Though many expected the company to become bankrupt, his charity only helped expand and increase affiliates.

Jolde, 1468-1497, allowed the charity of the company to continue in honor of his father. Again, Clay Enterprises proved it could handle military operations providing Ul'dah and the Grand Companies assistance in the short Autumn War against the Ala Mhigans.

Godwin, 1497-1511, saw a relatively short, uneventful reign when his youngest son, Auron, 1511-1566, succeeded at the age of twenty-five.

Auron would see the longest reign and only enhanced Clay Enterprises already strong hold on the markets. He provided support against the Garlean invasions up until his passing. His fifty-six year reign ended at the amazing age of eighty years-old.

The second generation jump would occur in our generation when Sheldon, 1566-Current, youngest grandson of Auron, succeeded at the youngest age of all headmasters, only twenty-two years old. He is a business man to no end, truly a worthy descendant of such a great line of headmasters. He spends much of his time overlooking all work done through Clay Enterprises. He is a cautious and cunning headmaster that only makes the best decisions for the company.
