HISTORY

Clouse Sydonis was raised in his family's heritage; farming. Life was simple. Hard work and long days led to an honest living. The war, of course, was on everyone's minds, even in remote farmlands like the Sydonis stead. Being an only child, Clouse was needed on the farm, not on the front lines. The thought of the skinny boy fighting was almost laughable. He lacked basic combat skills, often seeming to have enough trouble staying on his own two feet. It was a common family joke that without a plow to keep him up, Clouse would fall over. A much safer alternative was for Clouse to stay on the farm, raising the food to feed the soldiers.

The arrangement worked out nicely for both sides, at least until the Calamity struck. In the midst of the terror, stories arose about the fight against Bahamut. Apparently, a sealing had been attempted without first weakening the creature. Clouse couldn't believe the foolishness behind the process. Even childhood fairy tales advised first weakening a monster before trying to seal it away. Clouse felt a calling, and so he set out in search of lost knowledge.

For the five years during the Heroes of Light's absence, Clouse has occupied himself exploring ruins, learning all he can of old lore in hopes that, when Bahamut returns, he will be prepared. Clouse himself has changed; no longer a bean sprout and without the plow to keep him up, he's built muscle and much-needed balance. He runs the risk of being a respectable adventurer at last, though his success leads him to be a little overzealous at times. Clouse has also started tinkering with magick tech, though much of this knowledge is still new to him. Also new to his repertoire is the ability to meditate, during which time he gains access to reading fates. This, he learned when, during a search through a ruin, he met an old DustWight Elezen. From him, Clouse learned about Fa'eleves, and eventually the art of meditation. Unfortunately, Clouse has no sense of direction. Cardinal directions are a foreign language to him and yet, he always seems to end up exactly where he needs to be.

For a long strength Clouse had become an officer in the Facets of Eorzea. A grand company formed around the mystery of a pearl. The company dealt with Garleans and curses. During this time Clouse was cursed with blindness, something that left his depressed for quite some time. A pair of glasses that allowed him to see Aether signatures were crafted and helped him to deal with this issue. Eventually, the curse was cured and Clouse could see normally with no lasting psychical effects. The company lasted long, but eventually feel apart. They were mostly good times while it lasted.

Afterwards, Clouse lost his way and began to hunt those that destroyed his company, the Garleans. He lost himself in battle taking on a mask to haunt his enemies for what they cost him. Clouse probably did this for the better part of a year. Eventually, he started to come back around realizing how empty and barren life had become. Not that he didn't save a lot of lives hunting the enemies, but he was tired of being alone. Clouse eventually found his way to the Oak Inn when taking an extended mission form the Serpents. Most of the time, he worked for the Maelstrom and this was a cooperative mission. One of the few between the two city states. He has been using the Inn as his home for the last sixth months and has made some acquaintances at the Inn.

Clouse has been focusing more of his hunting on voidkin as the Garleans have been quiet as they rebuilt. It was one such hunt that lead, well to his effective Death, as there is no other way of putting. He had finally caught up with this voidriga that found ways to possess children and then set fire in the middle of the night. He has been tracking this particular back when he was hunting Garleans. Still, the bastard eluded him until now. The fight was going in his favor and the Voidriga knew this. It found a chance to open a path way into the void to allow his escape, but Clouse refused to let him go again. He leaped forward tackling the creature causing them both to enter the portal. Lillthi, a wind up Succubus he had found in a lost vault of the Wanderer's Palace brought to consciousness with a Mammet's heart, followed them in knowing better. It quickly closed behind them; however, that was not of Clouse's concern right now. The creature power grew in the void and a simple fight turned into a vicious struggle. Clouse blows with his lance were powerful and accurate, while the Voidriga left slices in the skin that the void quickly infected. After many long minutes Clouse dealt the killing blow, though the void infection was spreading.

For a good bell Clouse walked trying to find his way with Lillith using dark fire to try to stave back the wounds. It was not very effective. As his body was giving out, he saw the most odd thing. A brilliant light in the void? And did he hear the sound of running water. He really didn't know what to make of this as his body collapsed to the ground. His consciousness slipping away barely able to keep eyes open to see a fountain. He thought he heard a voice, but couldn't be sure. Lillith, while mischievous and a bit spiteful, had always been loyal for being reawakened. He could feel water upon his lips looking up to see Lillith delivering him some of the water. It was and wasn't enough. He didn't slip away entirely, but fell into unconsciousness. While he was out, the water infused into his body. The decay of the void and his old flesh sloughed off and dispersed into Aether as a new form was being knitted back together. Clouse awoke in the forests of Grindania with Lillith by his side and not much else. He was alive, but was change. His new formed has scales and horns looking awfully like the Au'Ra that had recently come down from the north. He chuckled as he had asked some of them earlier if they were demons, yet he felt nothing of the void inside of him. No traces of the darkness or the cold remain. This new body felt natural to him.

Now he is rebuilding his life. He has started up his readings once more and is making effort to find more places that he can belong too.
