Biography
Lemurés has long been thought to be a harsh yet stable plain of existence for the aegyl, a race of winged Hyur-like beings. The sky continent was surrounded by a barrier that kept the aegyl in and intruders out. Land disputes were practically nonexistent, given aegyl being sorted by pedigree and disagreements settled by holy scripture. To all aegyl, whatever happened to Lemurés happened. Clydwyn had never found anything wrong with this way of life.
Clydwyn's childhood was uneventful to an aegyl. Born to a line of sky soldiers that rarely stepped out of line, obedience was all they knew. Even when reprimanded for neglecting training to study botany instead, they accepted it. The aegyl made allies, but there was no real connection among them. Clydwyn had little to no friends outside of their family, but felt no despair about this. Even when they lost their mother, Carys, to a beast at the age of fourteen, they shed no tears.
It was in thanks to the presence of Yarhi - or espers, as the Dalmascans would call it - running rampant on their island, the land was ever dangerous. Clydwyn was constantly on the frontline to defend themself and their village. Yet the aegyl did not experience fear. They did not war. They did not anger. There was nothing, even when the barrier of Lemurés was broken.
Those keen few sky pirates with access to the espers swarmed to Lemurés, under the guidance of the mysterious ship, the Galbana. The isle of Zephyr found itself ravaged for auracite, a material found in abundance where the aegyl lived. Aegyl were either slaughtered or taken to be made into slaves. Clydwyn was no exception from the latter.
Aboard the Beelzebub, Clydwyn was worn and chained after many suns spent in Bosco Pampa's mines. It wasn't until an intervention with another ship, the Adamance, that Clydwyn was given a chance at escape. Though scarred in the process, they found their freedom. However, their freedom would only be won at a treacherous cost; being cast into the 'Underworld' of the world below.
Chapter One
The admiral of the Midnight Sun Fleet was Waggi, a Bangaa heading the Adamance as well as a Dalmascan resistance cell. Clydwyn is introduced to a variety of persons far more colorful than they're used to dealing with. They consider this no higher than the curses of the Underworld, intent on returning to Lemurés as soon as they could. They donned a cloak to conceal their wings, living under he guise of a Hyur from a Purvama such as Bhujerba or a group of airship nomads, depending on the tale woven.
The luxury of exploring the new world was not Clydwyn's to have. Sjlfa - Waggi's chief provisioner - took Clydwyn to a hide-out in Dravania, finding a link between Lemurés and the murderer of one of her clients; Enqu Gosaqu. Gradually bonding with the residents there, they are sent to Bozja to stop the supply chain of auracite, provided by the house of Enqu's wife, Vivisha. With the evidence they gathered leading them back to Lemurés, Nymeia's Garden is capable of finding both Enqu's murderer and Clydwyn's kidnapper; Ba'Milok, captain of the Beelzebub.
Personality
Attitude
Though they have a seemingly bleak outlook, this is not out of depression. Growing up and seeing their mother taken from them by the Yarhi, they've developed a hardened shell to the outside world, even compared to other seemingly emotionless aegyl.
Sociability
Despite openly interacting with most folk, Clydwyn has difficulty connecting with others, especially those of the 'Underworld'. Ironically, they get along best with boisterous people, but don't appreciate those who speak on their behalf.
Expressiveness
Clydwyn is relatively blank-faced, seeming cryptic to a great number of non-aegyl. Body language of aegyl is elusive and hard to detect for the grounded Races of Man, especially given their distinct lack of wings. Regardless, Clydwyn doesn't seem to have a filter when giving their input.
Notes & Trivia
- They are left-handed.
- Their favorite foods include fresh meats and Allagan melons.
- Due to their former residency of Ceridwa Temple, devoted to literature preservation, Clydwyn is fluent in some High Ivalician.
