Biography

Early Years

Born in a small encampment just outside Forgotten Springs in Southern Thanalan, and was left orphaned almost immediately, as the entire encampment except for her was slain by an Amalj'aa raiding party, she was only spared because her mother hid her once the raiding party was spotted. Roughly 4 hours after the raiding party moved on, a couple of Hyur adventurers named Richter and Elana Schroeder hear her crying, what they find amidst the carnage is a clearly distressed female Miqo'te newborn clutching a pale blue crystal in her tiny hands. They decide to take the newborn Miqo'te into their care and name her Crystal, due to the crystal she was holding so tightly. Raised as if she was their own child, Crystal lived a life of luxury in Ul'dah, she quickly developed an interest in Goldsmithing and Weaving, watching her surrogate parents ply their trade, at age 5, they were teaching her the basics of their respective trades, and she showed promise in both fields.

Pre-teen Years

By age 10, Crystal was making her own basic garments and jewelry, even making gil from the odd sale that her parents made on her behalf. It wasn't until age 11 that Crystal started to ask why she was a Miqo'te and her parents were Hyur, all she was told was that they took her in after her biological parents were unable to look after her, every time she tried to get more information, they would change the subject, knowing she wouldn't be ready to hear the truth just yet. Shortly before her 12th birthday, Crystal started taking lessons how to dance, after being captivated by the dancers seen in Emerald Avenue, she was off to a slow start, but started to show promise after a few lessons.

Teenage Years

By her 13th birthday, Crystal was a remarkable dancer, even putting her own seductive twist on some of the moves she was taught. She was quickly making money dancing on Emerald Avenue, as she looked and behaved slightly more mature than she was, often mistaken for being around 15-16 at age 13, this also lead to her discovering her sexuality, as she started a relationship with a young Lalafell woman named Honomi Hono, the relationship lasted for 2 years, until they mutually ended the relationship, remaining friends. Shortly before her 16th birthday, Crystal became more persistent in finding out what happened to her real parents, when she heard the truth, that her parents were murdered by Amalj'aa raiders, there was clear anger in her voice when she demanded to be taught how to fight. Although she showed clear promise in the arcane arts, she also wanted to learn close-range combat, showing the most promise with daggers and greatswords.

The year before the events of A Realm Reborn

Now highly proficient in Thaumaturgy, Crystal starts making preparations to head out on her own adventure, driven by two key motivators, to see more of Eorzea, and to avenge her parents and the encampment they lived in. She starts taking on odd jobs around Ul'dah, trying to make enough gil to sustain herself long enough. At one point she decides to spend an entire day dancing in Emerald Avenue in a custom-made outfit she made, her alluring figure and seductive moves draw a crowd, and eventually the nearby dancers pick up her routine and dance with her, all agreeing to split the gil they make evenly, resulting in them all making 2,000 gil that day alone. Spending an entire week with the couple that raised her, Crystal makes sure to make it memorable, not knowing if they'll ever meet again once she departs. On the day before she is to start her adventuring, she encounters a group of drunken thugs needlessly harassing the dancers of Emerald Avenue, she then notices one dancer in tears covering her bare chest, which sends Crystal in a blind rage, snatching the greatsword from the hands of one drunkard, before violently turning him around and pointing the blade squarely in his face, demanding they apologize, leave and turn themselves in, or else. The drunkards refuse, but with three of the four still armed, Crystal decides it's safest to use lethal force to defend herself, as one lunges at her with a knife, she sidesteps it and thrusts the blade into his torso. After a few frenzied minutes, Emerald Avenue is painted crimson with blood, as the drunkards lie dead on the ground, the display caught the attention of the Brass Blades, but for some reason, they say she had no other choice and let her go, but the rest of Ul'dah hears of the incident, and due to the rose-coloured dress she was wearing at the time, she earned the nickname, "Blood-soaked Rose of Ul'dah".

Personality

A quiet and serious individual, but still open to having fun if there's a chance to do so. A clear believer in teamwork, she hates being with cavalier allies who think they can work alone and everyone else will just hold them back, she is more than eager to put people like this in their place, as she sees this sort of personality as a hazard. Her companions see this same serious side, but they also see her humourous side from time to time, which ranges from dark and morbid to quick and witty, even slipping her allies backhanded compliments from time to time.
