Appearance

Hair: Inky black and thick, her hair falls past her shoulders in subtle waves. Her locks shine in the sun, and seem soft to the touch—provided there is no notable humidity in the region.
Eyes: Her eyes are large, the dark amber color of her irises adding warmth to her features. Dark, thick lashes frame each eye, giving her a doe-eyed appearance.
Build: She stands at 5 fulms, 6 ilms; a remarkably average height for a woman. She is toned-- due to her her years spent dancing for coin-- though not without ample curves.
Complexion: Thanks in part to her genes and moreso to the desert sun of Ala Mhigo, Maya has not known a fair-skinned day in her life. Her skin is a dark tan with warm undertones, smooth and unmarred by any noticeable scarring. It would seem that the desert maiden takes good care of her skin, likely from her upbringing in an environment notoriously harsh on it.
Scent: Often, the light scents of the oils from her beauty regimen linger close to her skin. One might pick up the subtle scents of coconut and clove if they sidled up close to her.
Sounds: When she is not dressed for travel or combat, Maya wears bangles on her wrists with tiny bells, and anklets with the same tinkling trinkets. Each step is accompanied by the soft jingling of those bells, calling attention to the dancer.

Personality and Behavior

Damayanti has many layers. This is not to say that she has different personalities (though it might seem that way in extremes), but rather that she is complex, like most living human beings. How she acts and feels vary depending on whom she is talking to and what situation she is in. In most situations she is amiable and kind, portraying an openness that is not actually there.

She is no stranger to small-talk and flirtation, though one would be hard-pressed to get any further with the secretive woman. Whether in conversation or physical motions, she is uncomfortable with intimacy. This has left Maya to rely solely on herself and her own talents to get by in the world, and she feels that she is better off that way. Even when at times she is clearly not.
