History

A child of the Azim Steppe, Dash spent his early years in preparation for his future marriage to Nigen Dazkar, a girl from much wealthier and well off family. His father passed away soon after he was born, a victim of a chance encounter with a Garlean Scouting party. His mother worked him to the bone, seeing her sons engagement as a means to pocket as much coin as she could. He was not allowed to socialize or leave the Ger for fear of him running off with some other lass, and he was thought the household duties a male Dazkar should find routine. He cleaned and swept from dawn to dusk, and practiced etiquette while being scolded into obedience. He saw Nigen only a few times, himself not caring much for the girl though he knew his own feelings mattered little, his world confined to the circular walls of his families tent home.

On his fifteenth nameday, Dash found himself with an opportunity to venture outside. His mother had gone off to discuss arrangements with the family-in-law-to-be, and feeling himself a want for adventure he decided to take a run across the vast Steppe. He wandered away from the safety of the settlements and caught sight of a infant Mammoth. Having never before seen such an appealing animal before he ran forth to pet the beast- only to be charged at by the animals parent a distance away. Unable to outrun the goliath, he took a heavy blow to the chest. Ribs cracking and face bruised and bloodied. Just as the beast was to deliver the final blow and stomp out the young Xaelas life- a tendril of dark energy struck the enraged animal, wounding it and causing it to flee along with its young in a panic.

Dash came face to face with a towering woman, garbed from head to toe in a dark colored and beautifully engraved set of armor. Face obscured, he could still tell she was an outlander, no woman of her size existed here on the Steppe. She did not introduce herself, but said in a grizzled voice, hollow from behind her helmet "Where are your parents?" Dash, nervous and stammering had the warrior take him back home.

His mother had been searching for him the past hour, when he returned a swift beating was delivered with little care given for the stranger who had brought him back. Harsh words we're exchanged between mother and son, Dash already bloodied from the animal attack. The armored woman said little and watched on, whatever expression or emotion behind her visor was unknowable, but at some point she must have felt the punishment was enough, and she grabbed the mothers hand before she could deliver another blow. The argument the two had- Dash could not hear. Already weakened and fading in and out of consciousness, he could only make out what sounded to be a deal being struck. He woke the next day, bandaged and in pain, on the outskirts of the Steppe amidst a campsite, of which him and one other person were the only occupants. He saw his saviors face for the first time, still wearing her armor but helmet removed, hunched over a pot of stew she was brewing: A green skinned hulking woman, with harsh chiseled features and an assortment of battle scars, a race he would later learn we're called Roegardyns.
