History/Timeline

When Del was young he was found by an Elezen man who's wife was unable to conceive. Wanting a child for so long when he saw a 7 year old Miqo'te being chased through the markets of Limsa Lominsa for stealing he knew he had to intervene.

Del's savior came from an Elezen with spiked black hair and a stern face as this Elezen scooped Del up and held him tightly. Del of course thought he had been caught and so he began to bite claw and kick this tall man who had grabbed him so suddenly, but what came next was not what Del had expected. The tall man stopped the merchant that was chasing after Del and said in a stern voice. "This child is mine." The merchant began to raise his voice but it seemed as soon as he had looked up at the Elezen's face he calmed quickly and apologized. Unaware of what was going on all Del could think was "I must get away" as he continued to claw and bite.

After the merchant had gone the Elezen walked into an ally and began to try and calm Del. "That hurts you know" said the man in a softer tone than before. Del began to release his jaw from the man's forearm as the man set him down. Blood still coming from his arm the man calmly wiped it off and asked a very simple question. "Are you hungry?" Del's eyes looked up at the man with suspicion and nodded his head. "Well then let's go see if we can't find you something to eat." The man said. Del, unable to understand what this Elezen's intentions were followed with caution.

The man walked slowly and kept looking back to be sure that Del was following him, every time the man would turn Del would dash behind cover, wicker basket here, merchant stall there. Although he would hide Del felt a bit of comfort every time the man would turn around. Soon the man approached a large house and entered. Del was weary about following into the house because last time he was in a house this large he was in in chains being forced to pour wine for the proprietor of the estate, who also seemed to have a heavy hand when his wine was poured incorrectly. However weary Del was he could smell the aroma of baked fish and popotos, as his stomach gave a grumble he opened the large door with caution.

As he entered the house he saw the Elezen man standing there with a smile on his face. Del tried to look everywhere but at the man's eyes and then out from the other room walked a tall slender Elezen woman with long white hair and bright green eyes. Starring at the beautiful woman who had just walked in Del heard the man say, "Vanelle this young man is rather hungry perhaps he could join us for dinner" knowing exactly what her husband had intended she said "of course dear I would like nothing better." with tears in her eyes.

As they finished dinner the Elezen man looked at Del and said "How would you like to stay with us for awhile..." then stopping to think and then began with "I don't even know your name yet do I?" Del looked at him and softly said "Del". The man sat up straight and laughed, "What a soft way to say such a strong name! Well Del my name is Beamont and this is my wife Vanelle, and we would love for you to stay with us." Still weary Del nodded his head ever so slightly and the the Elezen couple laughed and cheered. The next day Del would enter into a whole new world.

As the morning arose Beamont came in and woke up Del who had the best nights sleep ever. It turns out he enjoyed sleeping on the feather bed he was given much more than the stone sidewalks outside. Beamont had said "Del how would you like to come with me today and see what my day hold?" Del nodded. "Great! Here are some cloths I picked up early this morning put them on and meet me outside." After Beamont had left Del began to change he took off his tattered cloths and began to put on the new cloths. As he put his arms through the sleeve he could feel how soft the material was and began to think, "How are these people able to afford these things, the fish, bed, house, cloths, all of these things took a large amount of gil." After he was dressed he began to walk outside where Beamont was waiting. "Lets be off then Del." He said and Del began to walk along side him. As they walked Del began to day dream thinking of who this man really was. "Maybe he is a wealthy merchant from Ul'dah." after all Del had seen them come and go from the Limsa markets' But as the two approached their destination it became clear just who this man was. Beamont began to walk up a long plank to a huge ship with all manner of crew, large Roegadyn and stout Hyur called out in unison. "Ahoy captain!!" It was then that Del knew exactly who this man was. He was a pirate, and a good one.

As the years went by Del became very close with his new family. His mother would teach him arts and sciences while his father would train him in the ways of battle. Del grew up and became both stout of body and clever of mind. He studied hard and trained even harder every day learning new things and gaining new strengths.

Sixteen years had passed and it was the anniversary of the day Del had met his father and mother. In tradition he had gifts for them both, a set of bracelets for his mother and a new cutlass for his father. He walked in the door with excitement as this was one of his favorite days of the year. As he called out his parents name he found a note sitting on the table by the door. "Come to the docks" is all it had said. Del immediately left and arrived to the docks where he was greeted by his mother his father and 5 of his best friends from his father's crew. Del said "what is going on? Don't you know what today is? I thought we were going to have baked fish and popotos." His father smirked "That can wait I wanted to first introduce you to your new crew... captain." He said as he motioned to Del's friends. Del looked at his father confused and asked what was really going on and his father let out a shout "Show it to him boys!" His father's ship began to move slowly and revealed a smaller ship. His father said to him, "She's all yours Del. Today you become a true pirate."

Another year went by and Del was on top of the world he had a close knit crew and had made a name for himself among the pirates of Limsa. It was 3 days before the seventeenth anniversary of his rescue from the markets that he and his father got the call from the maelstrom. The Garlean Empire had begun to make their move. Del and his father were to fight with the maelstrom to save their nation. Everyone knew the day was coming everyone had seen the moon Dalamund falling ever closer out from the sky. But somehow it didn't feel real till now.

The battle had begun and as Del looked over to his father's boat he knew there was no turning back. Both ships were set up firing artillery twords the coast at the Garlean forces. The battle was going well but what happened next Del will never forget. Dalamund cracked open and a roar was heard across the land. Bahamut had awakened. As the beast tore across the sky he devastated the land and rocked the seas. Both ships were tossed like driftwood in a great storm. Then it happened he watched as his father's ship had been hit by Bahamut. The ship splintered into a million pieces and Del knew his father was dead. He looked up at the massive beast and saw the next shot coming straight towards his own ship. He dropped to his knees in defeat and in slow motion he saw his ship get hit and begin to splinter as his crew wads tossed around like rag dolls. It was right then that a flash of bright light had made everything seem to just stop dead in its tracks. Moments later Del was in a whole new place, but it looked oddly familiar. It wasn't until he saw a passing caravan with Gridanian flags on it that he realized, this was Eorzea but it wasn't the same.

After learning that 5 years had passed for the rest of the world Del could not help but wonder what happened to everyone he knew and loved. Del set on to travel in an attempt to find someone from his past, anyone who he could connect to, but he soon learned that the calamity took everyone from him. When he sat down to try and comprehend how so much destruction could happen and so much time pass in what seemed like seconds for him, he stopped and realized. He was better off alone, he began to wish he had never been saved from that merchant in the markets. At least then he wouldn't feel the pain that he felt at the loss of everyone he knew.
