Character
♦ General
Deryk Blackstone is the young ex-pirate. He was originally a resident of Ala Mhigo when his family and friends were slaughtered by the Garlean Empire in 1557 before turning to piracy, though he had no desire or motivation except to pursue treasures of Eorzea , which he did not truly believe in at the time. While raiding a Garlean treasure depository, he met Clef, who was injured, in his attempt to escape with the moggle a soldier returned as he turned around the man swung his blade Deryk dodged just enough for the blade to leave a scar on his face. He ran back back to his captain with the man chasing him the captain took the moogle and handed him a gun and ordered Deryk to kill the man he did as he was told, he dropped the gun shaking as this was the first time he had killed someone.When the Red Pirates were wiped out in a Garlean attack after being betrayed by their crupted Captain Baron Stark, being that Deryk was so young the captain had use for him so he decided to keep him. While he has no idea what the treasure is supposed to be, he makes finding it his only goal in life, eventually they came to a crossroad where as he Deryk was to execute a family and take their belongings he refused and was severely punished by the captain.

Deryk is an unpredictable sort of character who does reckless things to satisfy his curiosity, stating his actions as what any pirate would do in that particular moment, earning the ire guild mates , especially Clef, at times. But his sense of responsibility as a loyal member is still very well intact, as shown when if his friends is ever in mortal danger, he would use his duty as a protector and sacrifice himself, to ensure their safety. He is much stronger than he looks as he is usually seen exercising himself by wearing a heavy bracelet while playing darts.
