[edit]
Elli'a grew up as the only son in a family of four daughters, a mother who would often be too consumed in political and territorial dealings to be home, and their father who looked after him and his sisters. The few times their mother would return, she would shower her affections on her daughters rather than Elli'a. As the Moon Keeper grew, so did his resentment towards his family, and others as a whole. He actively rebelled, and donned himself with a cloak of cold indifference and cruelty. The cold cage he put his heart in he hoped would protect it from anymore harm.
However, one night in his 18th year, he had a vision of Menphina come to him in his dreams. She approached him, tears running down her cheeks, and embraced the boy in a hug that warmed him to his very soul. The years of pain and misery he inflicted on others washed over him, bringing him to tears as he sobbed and muttered apology after apology to the deity. The entire time he confessed his transgressions of the heart, Menphina merely held him close and brushed her fingers through his hair, as a mother would to an upset child, listening intently. After the Miqo'te had finished, she held him at arm's length with her warm hands on both his shoulders, a proud, comforting smile beaming from her kind visage. She kissed the palm of her hand, and placed it onto his chest next to his heart. An overwhelming feeling of love and compassion flooded through him. The xenophobia as so common in his clan was gone, and the idea that one and all were worthy of life, love, and happiness was planted firmly in his mind. She pulled the boy in for one last hug as she stood up to her full height, and slowly backed away, dissipating into motes of light as he awakened. Elli'a awoke on his simple cot, he stood at the window of his room, looking out at the shadowed wood of his family land. What was once dark and depressing, he could now fully appreciate how the heavy forest canopies made it possible for all manner of beautiful flora and fauna alike to thrive. As the day progressed, he journeyed around the wood to track down his family members who were either hunting or performing various chores to sit and speak with them about his regrets of his past actions, and his true feelings of love for them. When he approached each family member, he would note a curious various colored aether around each, which as he apologized and begged forgiveness, would change to a pearlescent white as they would embrace. A gift from Menphina which he would later learn was the empathic ability to read the true emotions of individuals in aetheric form. After he was finished with the final family member around his homestead; his father, he asked him where his mother was so he could speak with her. Elli'a's father told him she was on the far end of the woods, speaking with the Matriarch about a potential alliance in order to gather healing herbs in a particularly dangerous section of the forest. He gathered some rations, and a simple wooden spear before setting out on his journey to the far clan where his mother was. As he walked, he gaped in awe at all the sights that he had seemingly been blind to in the past, almost as if he had never opened his eyes in 18 years of his life and was finally given the gift of sight. He was snapped out of his wonder by a large boar that charged him from the underbrush and knocked the young male off his feet. As he sprung up in a battle-ready stance to dispatch the boar, he felt frozen. An aether he hadn't seen in any of his family members: crimson red with black tendrils, flared from the creature. As he gripped the spear haft tightly, he willed himself to thrust the sharpened flint spearhead into the hide of the creature, to save himself from the imminent attack, but the very idea made him sick to his stomach. A task he had performed so easily before, harming another creature, now seemed like a far flung impossibility. He looked deep into the boar's wild eyes, and he tossed down his spear, and sat on the ground. The mighty creatures gave a few territorial huffs, and dragged its hooves through the loose dirt, threatening a charge with its dagger-like tusks. Elli'a simply bowed his head and closed his eyes and whispered. "Do what you must. This is your home, and I have invaded." His heartbeat and mind were both calm as crystalline water. After a few moments of absolute silence, he felt the hot breath of the creature snuffle at him, mere inches away. He slowly opened his eyes to see the aether of the boar slowly meld into a pinkish hue that slowly transformed white. He looked deep into its calmed chestnut eyes until he heard a rustle from the nearby brush. As his eyes snapped to it, two small piglets wandered out and investigated the strange Miqo'te. He realized the creature didn't attack from mindless rage as he had assumed, but rather as a desperate mother protecting her offspring. As he slowly stood and smiled at the family, he intentionally left his spear laying on the forest floor, vowing it be the last time he ever lay hands on a weapon. After an afternoon of travel, he finally came across the homestead of the Matriarch. Respecting their customs, he put an ear to the door to hear if his mother was indeed inside, rather than dare to barge in on Matriarchal matters. He heard his mother's kind, yet stern voice, in negotiations and proceeded to sit on a nearby stump to wait for her. The sun had begin to set, bringing an even more absolute darkness to the already dim woods. The door of the wooden cottage opened, and the lantern light illuminated his mother stepping out, running a hand through her thick hair, heaving an exasperated sigh as she closed the door behind her. As her eyes adjusted to the darkness, she spotted her son sitting on the nearby stump. Her eyes narrowed as she spoke. "Elli'a? What are you doing away from our home? Can't you wait until I'm back before you launch into another of your tirades of how terrible your life is, or whatever drivel you wanted to mewl and cry about?" A red and blue aether that swirled into a deep purple was observed. Two which he knew for certain at this point: anger, and sadness. He stood up, swallowing the lump in his throat before managing to croak out a response. "I... I love you." His mother's eyes snapped open wide from the words. The red energy was slowly consumed by the blue as she seemingly measured her next response. "W-What did you say...?" He gave a small smile and repeated himself "I love you, mother. I've been wrong to treat you the way I have, and I needed to let you know... I love you as my mother, and respect you as our Matriarch." The blue aether swelled in intensity as it began to shift to a lighter, sky blue. Her normally stoic eyes welled with tears, the faint beams of moonlight peeking through the canopy gave them a gem-like shimmer. She stood motionless as her fists clenched, and her face contorted, trying her best not to let the flood of emotions overtake her. She grimaced and let out a small sob as the tears began to run down her cheeks. She rushed forward to hold her child. She wrapped him in her strong arms and swayed with him while she openly cried. She ran her fingers through his hair, stirring memories of the dream of Menphina he had the previous night. He returned her hug, his own tears staining her travel clothes as he rested his head against her shoulder and took comfort in his mother's embrace. The hazy view of her emotional aether through his tear-blinded eyes became the comforting white he was familiar with. He closed his eyes to revel in the loving embrace of his mother, feeling like a lost child who was finally reunited after years apart.
Elli'a strives for an androgynous appearance, finding towing the line between masculine and feminine helps him best to connect to those he wishes to interact with or help. Often time it skews more towards feminine thanks to the help of his sisters assisting with his appearance. While hesitant at first to wear makeup, he has now found it enjoyable to apply himself, and has gotten quite skilled at it. Originally being born with amethyst purple eyes, they have shifted towards a pink hue through time. Whether it's an affect of his aether reading abilities, he is unsure. He is often garbed in simple travel clothes, or plain dresses, depending on the individual he is currently assisting, or just his own personal taste for the day. His shoulder length black hair with red dyed fringes is in stark contrast to his paler than average skin; an unusual color among Moon Keeper males.
Aspects That Stand Out:
An extreme empath and devout pacifist. His life's goal is use his emotional aether reading abilities to assist in mental healing and generally helping those around him. Whether they be friends, acquaintances, or even complete strangers. Through his travels he's become extremely open to all sorts of experiences and tastes, including his own sexuality. His empathy has proven to be an issue with individuals who are willing to try and use it to their own advantage. Though he can physically see when they are deceiving him, he keeps trying to push through and help them. Can be seen as hopelessly optimistic at times, but tries his best to stay grounded in reality, although he never lets pessimistic thoughts enter his mind. He always believes in the best of someone, and is determined to make them see it as well.
