Appearance & Personality

You would see a light-skinned Hyuran girl of average height with light blonde hair and pale green eyes, with a few scattered stars painted underneath her right eye. She wears one side of her hair braided, hanging bells at the ends. She is almost always found wearing her hat, one typical of mages, and with a book strapped to her side. Usually wearing a bright smile, you would notice that she exudes an almost infectious happiness. Easily excitable, upon meeting here she will likely greet you with a wide smile and a happy wave. Depending on the topic of conversation shared with her, her reaction could vary wildly. She's easily embarrassed when it comes to any topic involving 'adult' behavior or profanity, given that she has never been around anything like it before reaching Ul'dah. Given that she's spent six years living largely withdrawn from most of society, meeting people provides her with what is almost an emotional roller coaster. Regardless of what you choose to speak with her about, it will be obvious that she's trying her best to see everything in a positive light and keep on smiling. Elphelt is also very prone to letting her imagination run wild, and given the fuel for it, it is not uncommon for her to cook up unusual scenarios in her head and get lost in her ideas.
On rare occasions, typically when discussing her history, she may begin to seem somewhat sad or withdrawn. Though always one to not want to bring a mood down, upon snapping out of it she will almost definitely claim it was nothing.
Biography

Childhood

As a child, Elphelt never knew her real parents. The day she was born, her care was entrusted to one of the minor houses in Ishgard. The head of the house, Sennault Sebanaux, raised her as though she were his own daughter. Sennault was also the one to choose her birth name, Pyrrha Sebanaux. She was given a childhood typical of one growing up in a noble home, with etiquette training and plenty of access to advanced learning. With Sennault making sure she was never one to go without, she was content with her happy life for many years. Changes started to come about, however, after a man clad head to toe in black visited her family's home. More shocking than his appearance was the fiery being that trailed behind him. From her hiding spot in the house, she watched in great curiosity as the man interacted with her father. As their meeting concluded, she noticed that her father was visibly upset. Deciding she would leave him be, she returned to her room. This was the last day she would have seen her father the way she knew him to be, as changes to the entire house began to show.
Still just ten years old, her training in etiquette and politics greatly intensified in frequency and content. Growing concerned for her father, but rarely seeing him anymore, Pyrrah withdrew into studies of another nature in her free time. She would secretly dive into tomes acquired for her by servants of the house, tomes containing a myriad of both modern and ancient magical techniques. Her concern for the politics of Ishgard ever shrinking, she began to hide from her lessons so that she could continue her private studies. Her unwillingness to attend her assigned practices went unnoticed by her father for nearly two years as he made himself scarce since his meeting with the stranger. Between sealing himself in his study and attending meetings with other houses, Pyrrah saw so little of the man that she was, for a time, practically able to do whatever she wanted. The day of her 13th birthday, however, saw even greater change in her father. Having finally learned of her ignoring her studies in favor of her own personal pursuits, Sennault forbade her from any further study of magic. In an attempt to prevent her likely disobedience, he removed from her possession everything he could find that was even remotely related to magic. Afterwards, he demanded that she attend her designated lessons so she could one day be married off to another house to increase the strength of his own. Shocked by his words and completely convinced that he was no longer the man she once loved as her father, she stormed off to her room only to find several books stacked on her bed. On top of the stack was a note from one of the servants that portrayed his own concern for the direction of the house, and his insistence that Pyrrah continue her private studies of magic. She was immensely thrilled to be able to continue her passion, though never knowing which servant it was that continued bringing her new books as she required them.

Teenage

Her years of study progressed extremely well; by the age of 16 she was able to successfully use several advanced arcane techniques, manipulating aether as if she were born to do it. A little over one month before her 17th birthday, however, she came across something of extreme interest to her in one of her books. In a heavily weathered tome, deep into its contents, she found a crudely drawn picture of the fiery creature she saw behind the stranger whom she believed responsible for her father's drastic change. She dropped all other pursuits and instead focused entirely on the tome containing information on the creature, which she learned to be called an 'Egi'. It was in this tome that she learned more of the primals and how they could be brought about to serve a summoner. Unfortunately her studies regarding primals was cut short on her 17th birthday. She learned that the day had come that she was to be married to a man in another house as a token of good faith for some political deal. Pyrrha did all she could to refuse, knowing that no amount of begging and pleading would change her now all-but-deranged father's mind. Once again storming off to her room, she was met with another surprise. On her bed lay the hat she wears to this day, a traveler's bag, and a note with detailed instructions that claimed that, if followed perfectly, would lead her to her freedom. However, at the bottom of the note, there was a small personal message from the servant that left it:
"Pyrrha, it has been with great honor that I have served you over these years.
Unfortunately it has become overwhelmingly apparent that all good things must come
to an end. You know as well as I that your father can no longer be swayed by reason,
and that should you wish to avoid this arrangement I believe your escape to be the
only answer. You are a very bright and strong-willed young lady, and I believe you
to be more than capable of living outside these crushing walls. I implore you to
follow the above instructions, for they will lead you from this place. It is with
these words that I also beg of you to never look back. A better life awaits you in
Eorzea. Tell no one who you are. Take care of yourself.
                                                                                                                   -E.F."
With tears welling in her eyes, she quickly gathered what she could and went about following the instructions which, after sneaking around the city and hiding where she was told to, eventually led her to a carriage that was standing by to remove her from Ishgard. As instructed, the carriage driver never saw her face, nor did she see his. With that, the carriage began moving.

Present

Now going by the name Elphelt Frixell, she wandered Eorzea to many different points detailed in her tome. Moving from one small settlement to the next, she would spend time using her magic to do small favors for people she met in exchange for food or a place to stay. On her 18th birthday, a small change came about her. She awoke to the power known by those familiar with it as the Echo. This did little to interrupt her lifestyle however, as she thought her visions to be mere daydreams possibly brought on by an extreme change in lifestyle. Too driven by her research, she largely ignored the rather uncommon visions granted by the Echo and continued following along the path laid out by the tome she carried. After roughly three and a half years of her nomadic life, she located a large crystal protruding from the ground that matched a description of one of the crystals in her book. She set up a camp and remained by this crystal for months, practicing and attempting daily to call forth the being she had seen as a child. Though not realizing it, over time her body was attuning itself to the aetheric energies given off by the crystal. This eventually led her to one fateful morning where, though she were nearly ready to give up, she almost by accident summoned a wind elemental, an Egi. She briefly attempted to speak to it, not sure exactly what it was because it looked nothing like the one she saw, or the one that was in her book. Obviously this didn't go well and the Egi attacked her. Using the offensive magic she learned from her years of study, she was barely able to subdue it after a long struggle. Exhausted, she fell unconscious.
She awoke several days later to find herself in a small house as an older woman was tending to a wound on her stomach. After a brief explanation from the woman, she learned that the woman's husband found Elphelt lying unconscious in a field next to a large crystal, covered in blood and bruises. The woman's husband did what he could to gather up Elphelt's things and haul her, along with her belongings, to his home. The couple was kind enough to allow Elphelt to stay with them for a month before she gave them her warmest final thanks and set off again, this time toward Ul'dah and the guild of mages she learned of during her stay. Having not yet attempted to summon her subdued Egi, and vowing to herself to never mention her attempts at summoning, something which she believed to be feared, she entered the first city she had been to since leaving Ishgard.

RELATIONS

Romantic Interest Platonic Love Good Standing Poor Standing

These will all be elaborated on at some point

Sorocan Ura: The first friend she made in Ul'dah. Sorocan did a few magic tricks for her that she clearly can't get enough of. Along with Markus, Soro helped teach Elphelt that true love is terrifying.
Hartwyrst Swarmannsyn: Elphelt met him through Soro. He's a pretty rough looking guy with a rather specific way of speaking, but she thinks there's definitely a really kind person underneath all of that.
Jekyl Mushekyl: Another friend she met through Soro. He's Hart's gladiator match promoter or something, Elphelt doesn't exactly understand what all he does. He seems really nice though!
Markus Valhoun: She met this man in a bar the night after he got married. Her and a couple other friends spent the night celebrating at the Quicksand. She thinks he's a very kindhearted man and was thrilled to make his acquaintance.
Kailynn Shinso: A Miqo'te with a sword larger than she is. Elphelt met Kai after watching her order a mountain of food and getting caught staring. The two talked for a very long time before parting ways, only to meet again. Elphelt feels closer to Kai than most after some emotional conversation.
Kazin Drake: Yet another friend she met at the Quicksand, Elphelt finds him to be a very friendly and stoic person. He seems to her like the type to look out for his friends.
