Childhood
Gailen was born into a lower middle-class family to Marion Lannis, a blacksmith and veteran of the Dragonsong War, and Eamon Lannis, a merchant of all things between spices and fine cloth. While his older brother Arn was being taught by their father the way of the trade, Gailen took no interest in trading or smithing, which often led to many a heated arguments with his brother and father over his future. No matter what though, he could always go to his mother for support, especially after one of his father's beatings.
