Free Paladin of Eorzea: Trained by the Sultan Sworn of Ul'dah, Granamyr serves as an Oathsworn or Free Paladin. As a paladin he works to uphold a strong moral code and be a bastion of light for those seeking solace to rally around in times of need. He works separate from his brothers and sister paladins as most Oathsworn do. Moving about the realm to help those in need and to defend those who cannot protect themselves. Although unlike some of his brethren Granamyr does not possess the zealousness that many paladins have. His past experiences in life give him a realistic view of the world and that sometimes one must pause to better assess a situation before rushing headlong into battle. Though if the situation is known and the outcome of inaction dire, Granamyr is the very first one you will see in the vanguard rushing headlong into battle.

Free Company: Quicksilver Company Currently Granamyr serves as a member of the Quicksilver Company. Although not as active as he once was when he was with the Harbingers, he keeps himself busy working odd jobs in he interim. Likes

  • Is a big fan of tea. He particularly enjoys blends that are located around the Gridanian region of Eorzea. His favorite tea is located from Doma and has a small stash squirreled away that he received from a Domanian refugee who gave it to him as a gift for protecting him and his family.
  • Has a strong sense of family and camaraderie. Certain events in his past has made Granamyr realize that it is the ones we care for that matter the most. Whenever he sees those he works alongside and those whom he cares for deeply are having fun or having a moment of happiness, it makes Granamyr feel the most at home and content.
  • Simply loves being outdoors. He spent much of his youth in the mountains and forests of Ala Mhigo. Although far from his native home, he is often out and about away from the company estate enjoying the nature and splendor Eorzea has to offer.

Dislikes

  • The Garlean Empire in general. Never has he had such tumultuous relationship with anything than with Garlean Empire. What it stands for and it's oppressing philosophy of them being right and everyone else wrong is something that has driven Granamyr over the edge in his past. Those who work for the Empire or try to promote these beliefs are the kind of people Granamyr despises.
  • Slavers, Rapists, and Abusers. These people he has no love or remorse for in the slightest sense. Those who actively seek to harm others only for the purpose of turning a coin or amusement are the kind that Granamyr has taken a dark pleasure of killing in his shrouded past. Now he will gladly knock them around and drag them to the authorities whenever possible.
  • Anyone who harms his family or company mates. As stated he has a strong passion for those he cares about and will place himself in harms way before anyone he cares for gets hurt. Even at the protest of the person he is protecting. As such it has placed him in danger and at times caused those he has protected to look at him with disdain.

Areas of Expertise

  • Martial: Is extremely proficient at utilizing the sword and shield in combat situations. He has spent over twenty years learning how to and fighting in numerous skirmishes and battles. Among the Immortal Flames he is a First Sergeant and often at times many senior leadership will ask him for his advice and expertise. Though being a Free Paladin of Eorzea is his true calling. Understanding how to weave the use aether and melee combat together into a force to be reckoned with is something he prides himself in.
  • Crafting: When he is not gainfully employed in missions for the company or the Immortal Flames, Granamyr takes the opportunity to seek out new areas for prospecting and mining. The swinging of a pickax or hammer keeps his body in prime shape as well as allow him another source of income. He is also proficient in creating simple meals and knows how to fish.
  • Other: He has rudimentary understanding of how his aether works within his body and how it interacts with the environment around him. He has spent some time in Gridania studying conjury. It is something he has told no one about as he likes to keep that to himself. In the event he is unable to be on the front lines he would work to better assist those who cannot help themselves.

Strengths

  • His unwavering sense of hope and faith in his companions is his biggest strength. Granamyr belief in those whom he calls family gives him a wellspring of faith, even those same members fall on rough times. It has continued to move him forward in his life and will continue to be a draw of inspiration for him to reach higher plateaus of understanding and strength
  • His hardiness and vitality to endure some of the most painful wounds and grueling work. He is the kind of man that will endure suffering long before he would let anyone else endure it. For Granamyr he has endured the hardest pain any sane man can endure and came back from it. It is a pain he would not wish even upon his hated of enemies.
  • He has a keen mind when it comes to training soldiers and going over tactics when time allows. Although he is the first to admit that time is usually never in abundant supply when it comes to down to the mission at hand.

Weaknesses

  • The willful and demeaning abuse of a child. It is Granamyr's biggest trigger to lose a rational thought. He has seen the after affects of such treatment and to witness it would set him over the edge. Laws, discretion, and reasoning of any kind will not sway or work on him. He will stop at nothing to end the abuse immediately on the spot. If left to his devices, he will take the offender or offenders and come up with the most creative and gruesome ways to end their lives. As such any missions with which there may be this kind of scenario playing out, he actively avoids.
  • His past haunts him at times. Things reminding him of his daughter Leyna has a strong affect on the highlander. Although it has been easier to cope with over the years, there are some things that remind them of her that causes him to become melancholy and distant. On those days he spends that time alone and quietly to himself.
  • His unwavering sense of hope and faith in his companions is also a weakness of his. As his faith in his companions is strong so is his blindness to those who work from within to cause harm and strife. Granamyr will give the benefit of the doubt even when there may be evidence that the offender is guilty. Many a time he has felt the sting of a companion's betrayal.

Other Notes

Religion

Although he originally was primarily a worshiper of Rhalgr the Destroyer, ever since he became an Oathsworn he has opened his view to the idea that the Twelve should equally be worshiped as they cover multiple aspects of life and that each one is equally as important as the other. To create a balance of the spirit within and to listen to lessons and guidance of each member is important.
