Reading - One would have a tough time prying the older man from a tome once he's buried his nose in it.
History - Halt has an extreme penchant for history, believing it holds an infinite amount of knowledge if one is studious enough to find it.
Simplicity - Not everything needs to be exciting and adventurous.
Thaumaturgy - Be an odd thing for him to dislike seeing as how he's devoted nearly all of his life to the art and it's history.
Friendly Company - Sometimes it's nice to sit and relax in front of an open hearth while mindlessly chatting away with a kindred spirit.

Black Magic and it's Practioners - Halt has a harsh belief in that all who practice such destructive, powerful magicks, only have selfish reasons at heart. He's not fond of its creation to begin with, nor the history that has made it. Perhaps, even with his penchant for history, he realizes that some things should truly be left alone.
Boats - A traumatic experience in his childhood seated the Midlander's dislike for many sailing vessels. The sea is an uncontrollable mistress and he would rather not be caught out in the middle of it trapped upon a floating piece of wood.
Spinach - The taste is one thing, but the texture makes him gag nearly every time.
Boastful Ignorance - Halt finds the act of boasting intelligence when, clearly, the individual is wrong, as something cringeworthy. While he realizes people make mistakes, there's just a certain type that rubs him the wrong way.
