Hansem Wildsteel
Hansem is the youngest son of a mining mogul that lived pretty much all his life in Southern Thanalan. He is kind hearted and a bit shy, but surprisingly not with women in general. He is confident in his abilities and will often lead the way in a group of people. He is also rapidly becoming quite a capable blacksmith, probably from the passion he has of working with the ore he harvests. His passion for clothes also led him to train under a famous weaving company he met while protecting them on duty with the Immortal Flames, for which he acts as a lieutenant after having been an active sultansworn before his accident, A recent cave-in during one of his father mining.
Back from a hiatus of nearly 3 months after, he is hot on the trail of any clues that might imply that his brother survives, while dealing with his own condition after having been in contact with such a rich pool of aether deep in the ground during the cave-in, all of this on a background of political turmoil in his native lands.

Nickname : Hansem ( mostly used )
Religion: Halone, the fury
Residence: Adventurer, no defined residence but mostly seen in Uld'ah
Marital Status : Single
Hansem is a Hyur that stands relatively tall compared to his brethren Highlanders. He is well built as he spent, like his family, most of his life working the mines of Southern Thanalan to make a living. For him, geology and mining are more than a job, its a passion. Shortly after his arrival in the capital, he pledged his loyalty to the Immortal Flames and started working the echelons to climb in the organization. He is very proud of his progression in the organization and his often referred to for his sound diplomatic advices and also for his innovative strategic views in the never ending war against Garlemald.
Some people in the organization have tried putting him down because of his background, but those who know him knows that Hansem knows much more than mining, having studied with the best teachers money can buy in Uld'ah.
Appearance
Tall and muscular, rugged like you would expect a miner to be, Hansem is well built and in tremendous physical shape. Of course, his age of 29 has something to do with it. He keeps in shape by running and mining, which, under the grueling sun of Thanalan, is often enough to burn whatever excess fat he might have gathered from his numerous meals at the local adventurer's guild. He usually wears expensive clothing that denotes his family fortune, even though he has no privileged status anywhere in the realms, his fortune being self made and his family coming from a rather ordinary background.
Height : 6 fulms, 4 ilms
Weight: 240 ponze
Hair: He has semi long blond hair, often washed but never combed. Thus, he has no recognizable hairdo, as it will change pretty much every time you see him. He likes to say that the wind and the sweat are his hairdressers.
Clothes: Hansem made it quite big with his mining operations, and adding a appreciable number of gils from his adventuring debut, he will often be seen wearing expensive , comfortable clothes when he is not fighting, which he loves because it contrast so much with his usual, uncomfortable working garbs.
Behavior
Even though he does not strive to be the center of attention, more often than not his height and imposing presence will make him so. This lead Hansem to be a generally shy person. He will however help people on a whim, and quite often he will seem touched or moody while doing it. It is as if he was living a painful situation over and over again when he helps others. He is very courageous and sometimes will take decisions that are considered reckless by many, which is why even though he was a great miner, he never really climbed the ladder of the companies he worked for.
Combat
Tendencies
Likes
Mining, a bit of gambling, and women. He also has very strong family ties as it is a chase after his lost brother that lead him to Ul'Dah for the first time.
Dislikes
Losing his time, not finding any precious metal on a mining run ( this will sour his mood for days ), people peeking in his private life, people not respectful of others.
Hobbies and talents
He is incredibly gifted with everything related to mining, like spotting rare metals or mining veins. Its part passion and part family genetics it seems. He is also a naturally gifted athlete, and thus will show impressive stamina on the battlefield. He really likes hanging in adventurer's quarter or tavern, and as stated above, even though he is rather shy, he is at ease with woman, as his demeanors is often interpreted as being "cute".
Relationship
There is no women in the life of Hansem currently, and he is not the kind of person to let someone in easily. However, he is an eternal womanizer, perhaps because of the fact that he is protecting a broken heart. His "White Knight" persona might be ending a fantasy deeply entrenched in his own subconscious.
Family
Brother : Lasfoix Wildsteel, his mining companion and his best friend. He is older than Hansem and has always been a model for him. He went missing during a mining operations that led to a brutal cave-in that killed many men

Enemies
Hooded mysterious man : Someone from Hansem's past that has wronged his family. Hansem being a gallant fighter, both of their meetings ended up in duels, as Wildsteel is trying to right an old family wrong. During their last encounter Hansem has the upper hand and wounded the man. He now has a limp. Only Hansem's brother could clarify who exactly the man is, as the first time Hansem draw steel with him was to protect his brother.

History and Timeline
Hansem's obssession
Hansem, while not being the quiet type, is someone who values efficiency and results. He is not the biggest of talkers, and prefers actions and quick thinking.
He is definitely a perfectionist. This became even more true after a truly regrettable event. He was head of security in a mine during a collapse, where he lost his brother during the aftermath. He is not sure if they are still alive because they were separated during the events. He felt powerless during the incident, and made a vow to never let that happen again. But, is his brother dead?
A miner's dream
Hansem comes from a family of miners. He was always really excited to go to the mine with his dad, and search rocks for precious metals. His family always lived off of the land, and this is why he has great respect for it and would naturally oppose everyone who tries to desecrate it. This is exactly the reason he learned to respect the work of his father, even if he was home very rarely. His father, even though he was raising his family alone, pursued his passion and provided for his family through it. Much of Hansem's desire and drive comes from there.
Another way to exploit a talent
Met this goblin fellow today, and since an adventurer is only really as good as its equipment, I Listened very carefully as he explained to me how to augment weapons and armor through materia. I guess this is what will distinguish me from other rag-tags out there. Anyway, I have already amassed a considerable sum in gear in the limited time I have been an adventurer. So, since I wish to continue doing that, and since I have no sign of my brother yet, might as well try to learn this tricky craft the goblin showed me, called melding. Anyhow, I am still quite dizzy after the cave in, even if it has been 3 months, and those sparks of energy still come out flying of my body from time to time, without me being able to control them. All I remember are bright flashes of light through the rocks, and those rays hitting me rapidly...
Hearing from him…
It had been three weeks since the mining operation me and my brother were working at had collapsed in southern Thanalan. Two brothers divided by fifty tons of rock, with only one difference. He ended up on the wrong side of the gallery. While I was able to escape quite easily, he was not, sadly, as he was stuck in the mine. Of course many air vents were a possible escape route, but it would be extremely difficult for a Hyur to climb there. Rescue team were pilling the corpses outside the mine for days after the collapse, but my brother was never recovered, giving me a weird mix of despair and hope. Until one week ago were I heard that someone fitting his description, who looked to be suffering from amnesia, had just boarded a caravan for Ul’dah….
Tempting fate.
Coerthas is a hostile environment, and Hansem's training led him there for a few weeks. He was really happy to be able to have Korzak, his chocobo, by his side at the time. Now, the harsh climate was a whole enemy by itself, as Hansem struggled to adapt. The wounds he suffered during his stint in the Sunken Temple of Quarn were still very fresh in his mind. However, determination was winning in his soul, and fresh news from the tracks of his brother had him overjoyed. He had just restructured the fabled blade Curtana with the help of the Blacksmith Gerolt, and it was one of the finest accomplishment he had in his career, because the blade, while being very potent, made him an household name that people recognized, and were willing to help in his search.
Laying down the sword (part 1).
Political unrest in Ul'dah after the Monetarists took control of the Crystal Braves and the Brass Blades signaled even worse news for Hansem than for the rest of the average citizens. Since he had commanded his garrison of Immortal Flames to help fight the primals besides the scions of the Seventh Dawn, he was branded a traitor and a Heretic. A moderate prize was put on his head and he had to flee to the remote Coerthas Highlands, site of the cave-in he still did not really remember. There, he needed to find a way to gather his thoughts and lay down a plan of actions.
It had been a few weeks now that someone resembling his brother was seen boarding a caravan, and with the Immortal Flames crest he would be readily identified as the mark on every wall in the city, he had to lay low for a while, and since Ul'Dah was to city of sellswords and adventurers, he just had an idea how to...
Thus, a battle he charged into on the steps of faith to face the dravanian hordes gave him an idea. Since his wounds where still healing, now would be a time as good as any other to submit his body to a different training regime, and also it was also perhaps the time to adapt his fighting technique to his new foes, the invading dragons...
Both would have the added benefit of changing his gears and garment enough so that he could be back in Ul'Dah after the corruption driven coup d'état that just happened. He could resume his search for his brother and bring back his family together. it took quite a while to start remembering what happened in the caves where he was left for dead for many days. The sultansworn, a steady warrior of courage and principles, had been laid waste to in an dominant fashion by nature.
Limsa Lominsa was home to someone who could explain what happened down there, and how to deal with all of the Aether charging through Hansem's body...
