Personality

She can be very aloof in most situations, but when something piques her interest her focus becomes that of a quill with a fine point. Often lost in thought, her mind is never far from her work. Due to her upbringing she sometimes starts rambling in gobbie-speak. Often scatter brained and thinks out loud regardless of the present company.

Combat

Uses various potions to enhance her combat abilities tenfold. She is very vulnerable while not under the effects of her elixirs with less than average constitution if she is caught off guard before using one of her vials the fight will be decided very quickly. Hotaru created an alchemical weapon with the help of a renowned blacksmith, it shapes itself based on the wielder's will. Hotaru has to use this weapon in conjunction with her serum otherwise she won't even have the strength to wield it regardless of it's form.

History/Timeline

Early Childhood

Hotaru has been an orphan for as long as she can remember, the only thing her family gave her was a name. She spent most of her years barely scarping by and nearly starving to death on a few occasions.

One day Hotaru was traversing the deserts of Thanalan in an attempt to reach an oasis. She underestimated how far the journey was and collapsed into the sand due to dehydration. She resigned herself to fate as her sun baked skin glistened from sweat.

Just as Nald'thal was opening the gates to welcome a new resident of the underworld, a miracle occurred. A traveling band of goblins was passing by and one by the name of Rumshox took pity on the waning Au'Ra. Rumshox removes a single vial from her rucksack and says "Hyurhorns can't naldnap now" as she pours a single droplet upon the downed child. As the liquid reached her lips the heat and fatigue instantly faded away. Hotaru rose to her feet as if awakening from a vivid dream and immediately clung to her savior.

Teens

A few years had passed since Hotaru was saved by her unlikely ally. The group of globe trotting goblins had never fully accepted her as one of them yet Rumshox could never let her go either. Hotaru would often tag along when they did their trading at various villages and outposts but what had really caught Hotaru's eye was Rumshox's alchemy.

The very same profession that saved her life was always the prime focus of her attention. To her it was the thing that could change one's fate. After much poking and proding Rumshox reluctantly agreed to teach Hotaru alchemy. At first she showed very little talent but that never halted her feverent studying. Slowly but surely she begin to improve her alchemical skills.

A few years pass by and Hotaru has improved upon her alchemy immensely. Rumshox starts including Hotaru's potions in their daily trades and customers are very impressed with the effectiveness of her potions. Unfortunately she is a free spirit when it comes to chemical formulae, always wanting to try new reagents, new catalysts, anything and everything is on the table.

One time they had to flee from Limsa Lominsa because Hotaru testing a new formula. She dropped the vial into the water near the docks causing the surrounding water to freeze. None of the ships could dock for the a couple moons. More often than not her concoctions were more volatile than beneficial.

Adulthood

Ten summers had passed and Hotaru has grown into a young woman, her bond with Rumshox has strengthen over the years to that of a mother and daughter but also a teacher. Her alchemy has reached new heights even surpassing anything Rumshox could have ever achieved. While still harboring a deep passion for alchemical mishaps, Hotaru's became legitimate in the eyes of her peers.

She created a rather reckless but effective method of alchemy using her blood as a base and her aether as a catalyst. With this method Hotaru created her crowning achievement called "Soul Serum". It's the soul crystals from heroes of yore in liquid form.

Currently she can harness the power of thirteen different souls but there are still drawbacks. The effects are potent but limited, she can only remain in one form for ninety minutes and since these potions are created using her blood and aether it is extremly taxing on the body. She is often tired due to creating this serum and feverent research that often has her skipping out on sleep for days at a time.

Currently

Hotaru has since parted ways with Rumshox her mother and mentor told her to "Pavemake own lifeway". So she has been gathering reagents and crafting minor potions to sell here and there. For larger undertakings she uses her serum to hunt dangerous beasts earning her the title "Hunter-Alchemist"

She has decided to set up shop in the basement of some sort of lodge unbeknownst to the owners, so caught up in her own devices that she forgot to introduce herself.
