Biography

Long before the rampage of the Garlean Empire and the presence of the Ruby Tithe, the Kojin knew peace. Rasen Kaikyo was home to Shimonada, a city beneath the waves where the Blue and Red clans of Kojin lived side by side. Where the Red were typically made into defenders of the city beneath the waves, the Blue were artisans of the treasure-hunting trade. Though rare, cross-clan unions occurred. One such union involved a Red mikoshi bearer named Gunsen and a Blue musician named Koma. From this union came a nest of hatchlings, both Red and Blue. The first to hatch from the six sisters would survive and be known as Kinchaku.

As Kojin had no concept of marriage and unions were only for mating, Kinchaku's mother wasn't frequent in her life. The times she did appear, it inspired her to take on studies of the shamisen. Under her iemoto father's guidance, she studied tessenjutsu to become a treasure hunter. It was the career path she eventually took when she was about twenty summers old, going to Bukyo to gather what she could. However, Hingashi was freshly out of the Age of Strife. She was accepted into the city reluctantly, though she was soon to become acquainted. It would eventually become apparent that she would not return with physical treasures.

While Garlemald forged an pact of neutrality with Hingashi, only operating out of Kugane, Kinchaku moved to Nagoya in Asanai Province to study music at the Imafuji School of the Arts. Her talent for dance impressed even the most xenophobic of her teachers, leading to the okasan of Ichimitsu Okiya to ask for her presence as a shikomi. She initially refused, wanting to return to Shimonada to check on her father after the divide between the clans of Kojin. Surely enough, Gunsen had been called away to war at the Pool of Tribute, serving as a mercenary. She'd never see or know of his whereabouts since.

Seeing no other route for her and torn from the clans' divide, Kinchaku lived in Shimanada for around thirty years before she finally returned to Nagoya. She returned to Ichimitsu Okiya to discuss the conditions of becoming a shikomi with the new okiya father. When she graduated from to becoming a minarai, she debuted as Ichitomi II, the second of her line of having the geimei meaning 'the town's treasure'.

Ichitomi continued to excel as a dancer, being allowed an apprenticeship as a maiko due to her 'young' age for a Kojin. It lasted for five years before her erikae, which occurred shortly after she had turned fifty-five. She focused closely on her studies, even if many clients were reluctant towards her due to being a non-Hingan. At least, she was considered such at birth until she'd reached fifteen years of her studies. The Imafuji School deemed her fit to become a natori geigi, thus she was granted de facto citizenship to adopt the surname of Imafuji, denoting her as a grandmaster of the school.

By this time, many had left Nagoya due to the outbreak of Red Throat, yet it had no effect on Ichitomi's race. She used her immunity to help the community by making deliveries to suffering families during the day, even releasing some of her funds from the kenban to donate to hospitals instead.

It took Ichitomi four years to finally pay off her debts to gain status as a jimae geigi, cutting the 'wings' of her nemaki. Albeit, she struggled from two years of lost clients due to the pandemic and her race, not at all helped by the tensions of Susano's summoning. Amidst her difficulties, she'd received sent a letter to her old brother, Ichihiko, of whom she'd known since he was a shikomi himself. With his invite to Kugane, she gladly accepted, going to see the west of Hingashi and its wonderful allure.

Personality

Attitude

Ever the optimist, Ichitomi takes advantage of prosperous opportunities as they come by. Using her training as a host, she carries on her kindness to business meetings, sometimes being seen by others as overly generous. However, to underestimate the tessenjutsu and performing arts master is to give her the advantage. At heart, Ichitomi is like a big sister to her peers, correcting them firmly when they step out of line but still expressing warmth to them.

Sociability

Ichitomi grew up in Shimonada, surrounded by other Blue Kojin in Rasen Kaikyo. Their frequent business with the Confederacy after their founding made for a development of Ichitomi's skills with handling other races. She may not understand all of other races' intricacies, but in the same vein, others may not understand her. Regardless, she's made herself well-integrated into Hingan society, so much so that her closest friends barely consider her 'ijin', or a foreigner. She thinly veils her disdain for Hingashi's xenophobia, which reminds her of the Red Kojin's retreat from Kojin society twenty years ago.

Expressiveness

Quite acquainted with the intricacies of Hingan etiquette, Ichitomi's sense of expression is refined. However, Kojin are naturally more open with their emotions, so where she is less prone for an outburst, she's more susceptible to giving a tongue-lashing, though she doesn't enjoy doing so. She'd much rather sort things out diplomatically, always being industrial-minded. She has a tendency in Hingan to use 'uchi' instead of 'atashi' when refering to herself, denoting her gentle demeanor.
