History

Illira is a rigid and vain woman; following the tenets set forth in law as if they had been carved in stone. She is not liable to give the benefit of doubt to others, just as she does not allow it within herself. While her black and white view of the world may be uncompromising, at least it may be said that she holds herself to as high of standards as she does others. At least she tries to, though her zealotry often clouds her judgement to individual circumstance.

The promotion of law is meant to better society, to make it raise the quality of life for all. Indeed, her intentions are well meant, but she long ago decided that Eorzea bears in it a deep seated corruption that must be uprooted by any means. She has instead chosen to support the Garlean Empire as means to bring order and peace to her native lands. This allegiance is not something that she discusses openly, but its effect on her is apparent to those who knew her as a young woman.

It is unknown what precisely what hardened Illira from an affable, if somewhat naive girl into her present self. Upon some investigation though, it would seem tied into the events surrounding her elder brother’s incarceration. Amaury had been an increasingly prominent face in the Ul’dah political scene, known for his championship of the working class, was markedly outspoken against the Ul'dahic Political Landscape and its lack democratic practices. Shortly after a syndicate member fell severely ill from a bout of food poisoning, charges were levied against him to the count of attempted assassination. The trial was quick, with little concrete evidence pointing to the Amaury.

In her early 30s, Illira found her way into the rank of Captain within the Brass Blades, though it ended up as a rather short appointment, as she began to turn the force’s focus onto Ul’Dah’s Syndicate. Believing that their underground dealings that paved a path for corruption within the city and its people. That their grip and ruling, was a fundamental evil. For her efforts, she soon found herself pushed out of her job, having simply entered her office one morning to find a Lalafell man named Lamandu Tyremandu, occupying the space.

She traveled after that, spending time in the major Eorzean cities, finding different but similarly deep trenched foundations of corruption throughout. In recent times, she has been living in Limsa Lominsa. Perhaps because it at least, has open awareness of what it is and actively tries to tame itself.
