Goals

• Leave a lasting legacy that will help any who need it. At the moment, that involves designing and constructing the airships of tomorrow

Personality

Upon first contact, Jayson comes across as a shy person. He's not really a shy person but more of a calculating one. He will listen and size you up with out a second thought then, if he thinks it's worth it, he'll speak up. Over time, as he relaxes and gets to know you better, he'll be talking and you'll probably start wondering how to shut this guy up.

However, during long conversations don't be surprised if he seems to slip in to his own world. Often times or not, talking with someone would usually give him an idea for a project. He would hold on to this train of thought and mid sentence just go with it. He's been known to abruptly end a conversation because he thought of a way to solve his latest engineering dilemma.

Quirks

Jayson is a notorious daydreamer. Because of this, he has a tendency to get easily distracted by his own thoughts. This happens more often than he would care to admit and often at the most inappropriate times.

His biggest fear is the idea of being alone for the rest of his life. Minor fears or things that give an uneasy feeling include bugs, rats, and small creatures with lots of teeth.

While being a very laid back and relaxing guy in the company of his friends, Jayson is always thinking, always calculating, and always coming up with strategies. He doesn't let it show often but he is actually well educated but hides it as it may raise questions given his past.

In the past, Jayson has preferred technology over magic. This was mostly due to the amount of his magically ability versus his training. It scared him. In the recent years, however, he has been studying with mages and has learned control. His instructors even praised him for being an exceptionally gifted mage. Recently, he's been looking for a way to mix his sword skills and his magical abilities. There are rumors that he's looking into...

Crafting

Jayson grew up learning the secrets of the streets and the forge alike. He learned at an early age how to meld metals into what he wanted. By the time he was sixteen he started working with other materials such as cloth, leather, lumber, liquids, and even foods. ((ICly, while he has spent the last 10 years learning the crafts, his specialties are goldsmithing and blacksmithing.))

Before Dalamud's Fall

Birth and childhood (0-10)

Birthplace: Sharlayan At approximately four years of age, Jayson and a caretaker were sent away from Sharlayan on a small boat. The boat ran ashore on a small island just off the coast of La Noscea. He was obviously alive but his caretaker had parished. He was dropped off at a nearby orphanage where he spent the remainder of his childhood.

Teen Years

Early in his teen years, Jayson was still living in the Orphanage. However, at fifteen, he got into some trouble and was given the option of either facing jail time or enlisting in the Maelstrom. He took the latter. For the remainder of his teen years and the early years of his adult life, he called the Maelstrom Barracks his home.

After Dalamud's Fall

Adulthood

The calamity caused a major up rooting in everyone's life. At the time of the calamity, Jayson was on an intelligence recon mission investigating the advancement of a small cell of Garlean soldiers using the battle at Carteneau as a distraction.

When the smoke from the Calamity cleared, Jayson found himself separated from his team. It took him a couple of weeks to make it back to the closest Maelstrom outpost.

A Realm Reborn (Present)

In the years following the calamity, as the nations began rebuilding, Jayson shifted his priorities. The lack of craftsmen was obvious. He took a transfer from Maelstrom Intelligence to the Research and Development division of the Maelstrom Corp of Engineers who had the current duty of leading the rebuilding effort. First to his fellow Limsans, then to everyone else in the alliance. He spent the next few years traveling, studying, and preparing. Now, at 25, Jayson has trained to be better at all aspects of his life with the sole goal of never having to resort to the life style of his youth ever again.
