History/Timeline
Katja was born into relative obscurity in one of Ul'dah's many average neighborhoods. Growing up, she drove her parents crazy with a thousand different exploits, ranging from teasing the neighbors' dogs to pranking the neighbors themselves. It wasn't until Katja's teens (and thus her discovery of the opposite gender) that Olof and Letta realized what a problem they had on their hands. Hoping to cure some of Katja's dreaminess, Letta began to teach Katja a bit of Conjury.
Much to Letta's surprise, her daughter took to Conjury quite well, displaying a natural talent for the craft. It wasn't, however, enough to curb Katja's appetite for excitement. The struggle to reign in the gregarious girl was a daily one, and a losing one at that.
When she turned 17, Katja decided she no longer needed rules. Had her parents known she was going to leave, they might have chained her to her room. Alas, their daughter sneaked out and escaped with a boy she'd been seeing. For two years, they'd lived together in a small flat in one of Ul'dah's seedy back alleys. Their relationship was a rocky one to say the least. One minute they'd be laughing and carrying on like they were the perfect pair, but the next they'd be fighting over Twelve-knows-what.
It was nearing summer when a 20 year old Katja ran from the apartment, a bruise forming under her eye. The boy, whose name she refuses to ever speak again, was already a fading memory as the young woman ran through the rainy alleys looking for an escape. Not once did she consider going back to her parents. No, Katja was determined to return to them a success.
Instead, she lucked into a courier job from one of the local merchants. He had a crate full of jewelry made with cheap stones found in Ul'dah's mines that he'd intended to sell at a premium in another market. Katja had found her ticket out of Ul'dah at last.
As she stepped off the boat in Limsa Lominsa, Katja knew she had found her home. This place fit her. It -WAS- her. Over the years, she's worked a hundred odd jobs to make a living: waitressing, babysitting, house cleaning. Those jobs, though, could not dampen the excitement that each day in the coastal city brought her. Katja spends much of her time at the beach, mingling and socializing with the other beachgoers. In fact, that's where she is now...
