"Never forget the name you were born with, for it marks your very soul." -Baatar

Khoradi Himaa is a Xaela born from a generation of auri shamans within the Himaa tribe.

Appearance

Standing at a towering seven feet, Khoradi is pretty much like every other Au Ra in all respects. He sports a pair of large horns, a thin tail on his back, and scales that dress his entire body. Due to family tradition, black tattoos mark his entire face and shamanistic charms adorn his neck to help ward off malevolent spirits and evil creatures. He has a long mane of midnight black hair tucked behind his pair of horns that's kept upright with the help of animal grease. His yellow, glowing eyes stand out the most out of everything else, giving off an eerie appearance to strangers especially at night.

History

Childhood

Khoradi grew up immersed in the tribal lifestyle, pursuing the family tradition of shamanistic teachings like his father and grandfather before him. Like all tribesmen, he was taught how to hunt and kill. However, it became apparant that he was falling short compared to the other youths, including his sister. His eyesight was beginning to develop into nearsightedness, which was a rare occurance amongst those living in tribal life. Because of this he was never trained to be a rider, though he has killed his fair share of beasts alongside his tribesmen utilizing tactics rather than brute force.

Eventually he came of age and began to answer the call of his ancestral heritage and began his tutelage as a shaman for the tribe. Khoradi's father versed him in the traditional rituals of his people while the young child watched his father in awe. At the age of seventeen Khoradi had already proven himself a capable hunter with each of his kills offered in the name of the Dusk Mother who adhered to the old ways. For years, Khoradi was stricken with incoherent visions as he dreamt, showing him images that he could not make sense of. One in particular was of his father departing the tribe and walking into a blizzard with no end. When he consulted him about this, the shaman ushered him from their home towards the outskirts of a cavern. They came upon a carving on the wall, lined with various fetishes and symbols that depicted the ancient legends of generations who lived before him.

Adulthood

Under the tutelage of his father and other elder shamans, Khoradi's abilities prospered as he progressed along his path towards shamanism. However, this caused his visions to occur more frequently and more vividly. Everytime he was suffering from his catatonic state, his mind became overwhelmed with nightmarish fear. Only when his father's stoic voice permeated through his mind did he regain his composure and return to reality.

With each passing day, Khoradi came closer to his destined path as a shaman like his father was sculpting him to be. Before he could receive the full extent of his training however, the vision of his father became a reality as his father went out hunting and never returned. The leader of the tribe sent out hunting parties tasked with thinning out the numbers of beasts that were massing at the last known location of his father. The search was fruitless as there were only scraps of cloth and the remnants of a campsite long abandoned. Khoradi had struck a wall in his life; he was lost without direction. Shortly after, the remaining shamans of the tribe had foretold of a dark omen that was sweeping their land. The wild animal herds were getting thinner, neighboring tribes were being wiped out and the Garlean Empire was becoming more aggressive. Khoradi and his family were finally forced to immigrate into Eorzea to avoid the bloodthirsty carnage that eventually swept up their homeland.

Present Day

With nothing but meager supplies and the company of his twin sister, Khoradi set off towards the border of Mor Dhona in search of their lost father. They were initially met with hostility from the town of Revenant's Toll, but after proving their worth to the adventurers' guild there, they found lodging and made a short living off of working contracts and odd jobs. With a small fortune, Khoradi started his career as an adventurer and grew fond of the art of thaumaturgy and arcana. By this time, his sister Khaidu was already a capable fighter and she used her skills to protect him as he pursues his everlasting hunger for knowledge. Because of this, she sometimes has to remind him of why they left their home in the first place to help steer him back into the right direction.

Currently, the two of them reside within the confines of the Vylbrand Academy in La Noscea. Khoradi strives to become a student there in order to strengthen his mastery of controlling the aether.

Personality

Khoradi is generally respectful and somewhat easy to approach. While he sometimes tend to be selfish and maybe a bit greedy, he never hesitates to share what he owns with those in need. He is marked by a streak of kindness and benevolence that stems from his personal philosophy that every living individual has a divine right to live the way they choose to. He has a distaste for laws and regulations that would otherwise infringe on personal freedoms, and this has caused him to be at odds with more civilized cultures. He believes that these people are being dictated by society on how to live their lives instead of making their own decisions.
