Basic Info

A healer through and through, Khuma Relanah is a hard-working adventurer who does her best to be there with a helping hand in whatever way necessary. Whether that way is cooking a meal, crafting medicines, healing those on the frontlines, or by being the frontline, she will find a way to lend aid to all who need it. Though her extreme specialisation to healing magic means her aid is limited, when given a chance to do so, she excels.

Appearance & Personality

Khuma has short, frizzy brownish-red hair, with medium brown skin and red eyes. Her face is freckled, with a mole, and her right ear has a clasp of pale yellow. Her tail is the same texture and colour as her hair, and is of a medium length. She requires glasses, due to near-sightedness, and wears no makeup. Her fashion sense errs towards the simple, preferring a long-sleeved tunic or vest, trousers, and comfortable boots instead of skirts or dresses in all but the most formal of situations.
She is an extraordinarily happy and optimistic person, to a fault. Khuma places the well-being of others above her own at all times, and devotes herself to learning how to better someone else's life and happiness with all that she does. Staying idle ill-suits her, and she does her best to keep apprised of the situations of everyone around her, ready to pounce at the first sign of discontent. Expressions aren't Khuma's area of expertise, in any sense, but she does her best to make sure people understand her meaning and emotions regardless through sheer enthusiasm if nothing else. Khuma is never able to admit defeat or recognise a lost cause, and is entirely genuine when she says that she can not see anything going wrong until happens. She has complete unyielding trust in her friends and their abilities even if a situation points to the contrary.
Following certain events, what was originally a very small lingering feeling following the Calamity blossomed into a horrible sense of survivor's guilt, as multiple people she has held dear abandoned her, have gone missing, or died, almost always in efforts to help her, and the effects of this have shaken her to her core. Khuma has managed to turn her propensity for healing and want to aid into a weapon, allowing fine control over aether for offensive purposes. Though she still struggles doing so against enemies which have not harmed those she cares about, the instant a threat from them is raised, she is ready to raze them to the ground. Also following these events, she took up a strict regimen in order to wield a sword and shield, which is far less natural for her and is still a work in progress. Khuma believes with all her heart in many things, but her deepest belief is that she is alive to help other people, with very few other purposes. Despite all of this, her trademark optimism has not faltered.
When in battle, she will fight until her last energy is exhausted, and will always prefer her own death to giving up in the face of an unjust adversary.

Biography

Childhood

Khuma had a fairly simple childhood. Born in the region now labelled South Shroud in the 1557'th year of the Sixth Astral Era, her home group consisted of herself, her relatives, and five other extended families, comprising 30 members. She would explore the Twelveswood, minding herself to stay clear of areas in which the elementals' wrath was greatest, and dream of becoming an exceptionally skilled hunter to help feed those she lived with, though the actual killing part still sat wrong. Though her true passions leaned towards tending plants, she knew that if she did so, she'd be depriving everyone else of a reliable source of food. She was nevertheless comfortable with the Keeper lifestyle until she was roughly nine winters old, at which point an experience completely changed her opinion on the sun, making her dissatisfied with both the Seeker of the Sun and Keeper of the Moon philosophies. Khuma was far more willing to hear adventurers and merchants out when they wandered too close to the camp, despite the adults meeting each of them with a cold distrust.

Teenage

She began her training with knives in earnest at twelve winters old proving competent in both stealthily stalking her prey and landing a killing blow. She wandered less, and helped her older sisters barter with the strangers appearing in her camp more, but could never get thee hang of it, due to being too sympathetic to every story that she was told.
At fifteen summers old, the Calamity happened. Following her clan's supplies being stolen by a stampede of those fleeing the inevitable, her family had accepted their fate and, despite Khuma's protestations, refused to seek shelter in Gridania. In an extraordinary stroke of luck and generosity, a group of six adventures delivered them what they needed to escape, including chocobos and building materials to settle once they had reached far enough. One of them, a healer themselves, inspired Khuma towards healing herself, as it seemed to be everything she had ever dreamed of doing. The other Miqo'te escaped, and they reached the seas surrounding Mazalya the day the Battle of Cartenu occurred. However, those six adventurers became Warriors of Light, and she became unable to recall who they were beyond their existence and what they had done, and even that was only through her having written all of it down for posterity. Undaunted, she then withdrew from hunting training (as it was mainly unneeded on the island), and began studying techniques of conjuring out of books, and got to put her budding botany skills to work as the newly-founded village found themselves in a position of needing to farm. Thanks to the sheer amount of supplies they were given, the displaced Miqo'te had enough of a buffer for several moons, and from there clawed their way into comfortable living territory.

Present

Five years after settling onto the island, six very particular chocobos disappeared from the now-village without a trace. Those six going missing, on top of rumours that the Warriors of Light were returning, sprung Khuma's plans for returning to Eorzea in earnest. Taking as few things as she could, she left on a ship heading to Eorzean shores. After wandering confused for several bells, she found herself at the Conjurer's Guild and found her name already registered, with a drawing of her next to the name. Shortly following that, exhilarated by having concrete proof that she was on the tight track, she literally bumped in to a member of a more experienced adventuring party, and from there began her journeys in earnest.
Khuma follows the Warrior of Light storyline (The Main Story Quests) for the majority of her adventures, as well as the class quests for her particular jobs. She hates being called a Warrior of Light, however, and will try and dissuade anyone who applies the title to her, as she knows that there are those who have actually earned it. In between, she spends her time wandering the zones, looking for those in need to offer help or to do tasks to progress her own abilities. If for some reason she can find nothing to do, she will instead challenge whoever she can to Triple Triad to test her (admittedly terrible) deck.

RUMORS

Some of these rumors are untrue or are greatly exaggerated. Please feel free to add your own rumors under PC!

◢ Common Rumors (Easily overheard)
■ "She keeps coming by to give food to the new arrivals. it's always 'I had some left over, would you like any?', but who makes a pantry's worth of spare steak?" Confused Airship Receptionist
■ "I hear she took down Ifrit all on her own, then sawed off his horn for a sword!" Over-Excited Ul'dahn Gladiator
■ "Her? She helps sometimes when Brother E-Sumi-Yan is too busy to lecture. She stumbles over the words, but always makes sure that everyone understood what she meant. The younger conjurer's adore her, though that could be because of the candies she hands out after demonstrations." Stillglade Fane Hearer
■ "If you wait long enough, you'll see her around. She keeps running back and forth as if she's looking for something, but that "something" always seems to be someone who was dying that she leads back to camp. Wish I knew how she found them, but she never waits for anyone to ask before running off again." Falcon's Nest Guard
◢ Moderate Rumors (Moderately difficult to overhear)
■ "She's one of my best customers! Comes by every other sun, on the dot, and buys up all the soil she can reach, and some more besides! She never stops talking about her newest projects if you give her a chance, so watch yourself if you bring it up." Richly Dressed Retainer from the Gridanian market
■ "Thought I was a goner, I did, but suddenly this Miqo'te smaller than my axe charged in, sliced everything to bits in a flash, then healed my wounds to boot! Didn't look like she'd be able to carry that sword, but apparently, the pirates didn't think so, neither." Roegadyn Yellowjacket Captain, stationed in Lower La Noscea
■ "She came by Dragonhead a few moons back with some gigantic boxes, three on her and four on her chocobo. They were each scorching hot meat pies the size of a scutum, and deeper than the See's coffers. It was thanks for something or other, but she never really brought up what. Served them, too, ran around handing out huge slices to those of us still on duty. What I wouldn't give to have another one... Pass me the karkaul jerky, would you?" House Fortemps Guard
■ "Friendly one is familiar to this one, yes! This one remembers seeing them before the forest burned, jumping to and fro from the trees! This one recalls them being a smaller one, though." Cheerful Little Solace Sylph.
◢ Rare Rumors (Very difficult or rarely overheard)
■ "I think she's lying about being powerful, and is just taking the credit from someone else. No one with that much power could be content with that pauper lifestyle." Hushed conversation in the Platinum Mirage.
■ "Something about her is unnerving. None of her smiles ever seem right, it's like watching a moving mask. Don't... tell anyone I said that." House Dzmael Knight
■ "I don't trust her intentions. Her grandmother was fighting the Woodwailers for 30 years to stay where they did, tooth and claw, and her mother did the same after we stopped sighting her. Practically poachers, the lot of 'em. Who's to say she isn't in league with the new breed?" Disgruntled Gods' Quiver Member
■ "A whole regiment of us was wiped out fighting those winged bastards. I was dead, and I know it, I can remember how it felt. Everything went dark, but then, my throat was untorn when it hadn't been, and the man I'd seen get bitten in half was stirring, except whole. And she, she was just standing there in the center of it all, bathed in light, staring the dragons down. Then after it faded, she saw me looking, winked, waved, and stabbed through their eyes with beams of light." A Temple Knight's testimony, following the defeat of Vishap.
